2021 NFL Free Agency: Star rating is out of five. Age listing as of Sept. 1, 2021.

  1. Corey Linsley, C, Packers. Age: 30.
Signed with Chargers (5 years, $62.5 million)

Corey Linsley is one of the top centers in the NFL. His absence was felt in the middle of the season when the Packers struggled to blow out the opposition. His only downside is that he has entered his 30s, but that’s not a big deal.

  2. David Andrews, C, Patriots. Age: 29.
    Re-signed with Patriots (4 years)

David Andrews is coming off a down year because he dealt with an injury. He should be able to rebound in 2021 and reestablish himself as one of the better centers in the NFL.

  3. Alex Mack, C, Falcons. Age: 35.
    Signed with 49ers

Alex Mack was once the best center in the NFL – I argued he should have been MVP in the Super Bowl prior to Tom Brady’s comeback from down 28-3 – but at 35, he has regressed in recent years.

  4. Ethan Pocic, C, Seahawks. Age: 26.
    Re-signed with Seahawks (1 year, $3 million)

Ethan Pocic is a young center who has improved each year. He has plenty of upside as a 26-year-old.

  5. Ted Karras, C, Dolphins. Age: 28.
    Signed with Patriots

Ted Karras filled a need for the Dolphins in the middle of the offensive line. He wasn’t exceptional, but he blocked well, particularly in pass protection.

  6. Austin Reiter, C, Chiefs. Age: 30.
Austin Reiter was a solid center for the Chiefs last year. His pass protection is much better than his run blocking.

  7. Austin Blythe, C, Rams. Age: 29.
    Signed with Chiefs (1 year)

Austin Blythe has done a good job at center for the Rams, particularly when it comes to run blocking. His pass protection must improve a bit.

  8. Ben Garland, C/G, 49ers. Age: 33.
Ben Garland has played well the past couple of years for the 49ers. He’s capable of starting at both center and guard. However, he’s now 33, so he could begin to decline in the near future.

  9. Nick Martin, C, Texans. Age: 28.
    Signed with Raiders

Nick Martin has been a mediocre starting center at best for the Texans over the past four years. Houston would’ve kept him if he weren’t overpaid.

  10. Tyler Shatley, C/G, Jaguars. Age: 30.
    Re-signed with Jaguars

Tyler Shatley performed well as a backup interior lineman for the Jaguars. He could be a passable starter somewhere.

  11. Matt Skura, C, Dolphins. Age: 28.
  12. Russell Bodine, C, Lions. Age: 29.
  13. Mike Pouncey, C, Chargers. Age: 32. — Announced retirement
  14. James Ferentz, C, Patriots. Age: 32.
  15. A.Q. Shipley, C, Buccaneers. Age: 35.
  16. Brett Jones, C, Vikings. Age: 30. — Signed with Broncos
  17. Daniel Kilgore, C, Chiefs. Age: 34. — Announced retirement
  18. Hroniss Grasu, C, 49ers. Age: 30.
  19. Tyler Larsen, C, Panthers. Age: 30. — Signed with Giants
  20. B.J. Finney, C, Bengals. Age: 29. — Signed with Steelers
  21. Cameron Tom, C, Saints. Age: 26.
  22. Joey Hunt, C, Colts. Age: 27. — Re-signed with Colts
  23. Marcus Martin, C, Patriots. Age: 32.
  24. Tony Bergstrom, C, 49ers. Age: 35.
