As the 2025 college football season progressed, one of the breakout stars in college football was Ole Miss quarterback Trindidad Chambliss. After leading Ferris State to a championship at the Division II level, Chambliss transferred to Ole Miss, and an injury led to him taking over as the Rebels’ starting quarterback. Chambliss made the most of the opportunity, leading the Rebels deep into the college football playoffs, including an epic win over Georgia. In 2025, Chambliss completed 66 percent of his passes for 3,937 yards with 22 touchdowns and three interceptions. Chambliss ran for 527 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground. While Chambliss (6-0, 200) is undersized, he had a similar style of play to a young Russell Wilson. Chambliss tried to apply for another year of eligibility, but the NCAA denied the request. The lawsuits are ongoing, but NFL scouts did reports on Chambliss to be prepared for him to be in the 2026 NFL Draft. In speaking with multiple team sources, they provided a draft range for Chambliss based on their team’s grades and the draft class as a whole.
One NFC general manager said he thought Chambliss could go as high as the second round and wouldn’t fall lower than the fourth round. An NFC director of player personnel said they had Chambliss graded on day three, but they thought he could go higher in the weak 2026 quarterback pass. An AFC director of player personnel texted he thought Chambliss would go as high as the late second round and as low as the early fourth round.
In my latest 2026 NFL Mock Draft, Chambliss lands with a team in need of a starting quarterback, and he may end up being a steal like Wilson was in the 2012 NFL Draft.
