Many in the scouting community feel the 2026 NFL Draft could be an underwhelming year for talent. Every draft produces some good players, but some drafts have a more bountiful group of talent coming out of college football. Some in the media have projected San Diego State cornerback Chris Johnson as a first-round pick. While there could be some teams that are high on him, multiple team sources say they have Johnson with a mid-round grade.
“Way too high,” texted an NFC national scout. “Depending on what he runs, he’s a mid-rounder for me.”
In 2025, Johnson had a productive season for the Aztecs. At the end of the regular season, Johnson has 48 tackles with four interceptions, eight passes broken up, one sack, and one forced fumble. With Johnson producing quality numbers, some teams might be higher on him. But multiple team sources said they did not have him graded as an early-round prospect for the 2026 NFL Draft.
