Thanksgiving football is here, and this year’s slate gives us three games to chew on between plates. The day kicks off with Green Bay vs Detroit, followed by Kansas City taking on Dallas in the afternoon spot, and the night wraps with Cincinnati at Baltimore under the lights. It’s a solid mix of rivalry energy, playoff stakes, and a few teams looking to prove they belong in the conversation.
For bettors, this is one of the best days of the regular season. With games spread almost perfectly throughout the holiday, you can build same-game parlays for each matchup, chase live lines after big plays, or roll a three-leg moneyline parlay across the entire day. Player props also get interesting on Thanksgiving since usage can spike in statement games or divisional matchups. Luckily for Kansas City fans who live in their home state, Missouri betting apps are going live next week.
Whether you’re tracking every drive or casually sweating a slip from the couch, this slate offers plenty of angles. Good football, all day, with more than enough to keep your phone in hand while the turkey cools.
Typically, I do a game pick and then three player props for the TNF game. However, this week, since there are three Thursday games, we’ll look at my game picks (against the spread) for each.
So far, we’re 5-0 against the spread on this series, so hopefully, turkey day keeps us hot!
Game Pick: Lions -2.5
Neither of these NFC North rivals has looked particularly good as of late, dropping unexpected games and struggling against lesser teams. However, I think both will show up to play for this one. The main reason I’m going Lions on this one is that I think Dan Campbell has a lot of tricks up his sleeve for a Thanksgiving game. The Packers’ defense is stout, so it will likely take some trickery to gain the chunk plays the Lions have become known for. This is the best matchup of the day, with huge implications for the division and wild card. The Lions play every year on Thanksgiving and will be the ones to show out in this early matchup.
Game Pick: Cowboys +3.5
This is an interesting matchup. Dallas boasts one of the best offenses in football, while also having one of the worst defenses. The question is, will we see the version of the defense that allowed 21 early points to the Eagles last week, or the one that shut them out in the 2nd half? Kansas City’s offense lacks the explosiveness it once had, and has shown they are more beatable in close games (1-5 in 1 score games this season). The Chiefs are fighting for the playoffs, and likely win this game, but I think the Cowboys can generate enough offense between their star wide receiver duo to keep this one close.
Game Pick: Bengals +7
The big storyline going into this one is the return of star QB Joe Burrow. It will be his first game since a turf toe injury sidelined him for what was expected to be the remainder of the season. He will be joined by Jamar Chase, returning from his one-game suspension. The two have been known to bully the Baltimore secondary every time they play. I expect nothing less in a potentially high-scoring game. The Ravens have let bad teams hang around the last few weeks, so it seems reasonable to believe the Bengals can stay within a touchdown.
