During the summer and fall, there was a lot of buzz about Miami safety Kamren Kinchens. With the Hurricanes, Kinchens was a prolific ball hawk who notched six interceptions in each of the past two seasons. Kinchens also was a hard-hitter and a good tackler. He is also known as a high-character individual. Despite being very productive in his final season, Kinchens slid with team evaluators. Sources from multiple teams said they see Kinchens as a second-day pick for the 2024 NFL Draft.
“He doesn’t have an early-round body and won’t test real well, but he is a heck of a football player,” said an NFC director of college scouting. “I love the ball skills, but he will out-hit his body.”
Kinchens had a scary head/neck injury in Week 2 of the 2023 season against Texas A&M. He was carted off the field and checked into the hospital, but returned to play in early October. Sources from multiple NFL teams said Kinchens needs to run fast at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine and workout well in the field drills. In my latest 2024 NFL Mock Draft, I have Kinchens going in the second round, and he needs to have a strong combine this week to make that happen, according to multiple team sources.
