2009 Free Agency: Star rating is out of five. Age listing as of Sept. 1, 2009.

Jahri Evans (RFA), Saints. Age: 26.
Re-signed with Saints (1 year, $2.792 million)

Jahri Evans, one of the top guards in the league, is due for a monstrous contract. He has no weaknesses in his game, he’s started all 48 games he’s played in his career, and he’ll be only 26 in August.
Brandon Moore, Jets. Age: 29.
Re-signed with Jets (4 years, $16 million)

An elite run-blocker, Brandon Moore was cut because the Jets couldn’t afford his $7 million bonus. He also gave up just two sacks in 2008.
Harvey Dahl (RFA), Falcons. Age: 28.
Re-signed with Falcons (1 year, $1.545 million)

A monstrous run-blocker. Michael Turner should buy Harvey Dahl and Tyson Clabo new homes for the lanes they opened up this season.
Derrick Dockery, Bills. Age: 28.
Signed with Redskins (5 years, $26 million; $8.5 million guaranteed)

Derrick Dockery can stock run block pretty well, but he was completely lost in pass protection last year, giving up 8.25 sacks. He was also whistled for five penalties.
Nick Cole (RFA), Eagles. Age: 25.
Re-signed with Eagles (1 year, $1.545 million)

Starting in relief of Max Jean-Gilles, Nick Cole has played pretty well during Philadelphia’s postseason run. At just 25, the 350-pound Cole has shown too much promise not to be retained.
Cooper Carlisle, Raiders. Age: 32.
Re-signed with Raiders

Cooper Carlisle’s age is a factor here, but he has started all but one possible game in the past four years.
Stephen Peterman, Lions. Age: 27.
Re-signed with Lions: 5 years, $15 million ($5.5M guaranteed)

The Lions can get away with having Stephen Peterman at right guard; they have way more pressing needs to address. Peterman gave up four sacks in 14 games.
Chris Kemoeatu, Steelers. Age: 26.
Re-signed with Steelers (5 years, $20 million)

Despite receiving praise this offseason from several coaches, Chris Kemoeatu struggled in 2008, surrendering 7.5 sacks and getting whistled for six penalties.
Pork Chop Womack, Seahawks. Age: 30.
Signed with Browns

One of the better backup linemen in the NFL, Pork Chop Womack was thrust into the lineup because of injuries this season. He started 14 games.
Mike Goff, Chargers. Age: 33.
Signed with Chiefs

Mike “Chip & Putt” Goff has plenty of starting experience… and a cool new nickname. That’s about it.
Kendall Simmons, Patriots. Age: 30.
Signed with Bills

Not a promising free agent; Kendall Simmons, 30, is coming off a torn Achilles’ tendon.
Russ Hochstein, Patriots. Age: 31.
Re-signed with Patriots (1 year)

A spot starter for the Patriots, Russ Hochstein saw action in 15 games and was in the opening lineup for two.
Mike Wahle, Seahawks. Age: 32.
Mike Wahle has a bum shoulder and could retire. If he signs somewhere, he’ll be a solid backup – but nothing more at this point in his career.
Pete Kendall, Redskins. Age: 36.
The Redskins can get away with having Pete Kendall as a starter if he continues to play the way he did in 2008. However, he’s 36, so there’s a good chance he could really regress. Washington needs a long-term solution at left guard.
Richie Incognito, Rams. Age: 26.
Claimed by Bills

Featured in a story that sounds like it came right out of the 2013: Emmitt on the Brink, Richie Incognito was criticized for sitting out a game for a fake illness. Jim Haslett was so frustrated that he actually slapped a candy bar out of Incognito’s hands on the sideline. If Incognito can’t find a job, perhaps he and JaMarcus Russell can start the Eating on the Sidelines Appreciation Society.
