2012 NBA Draft Scouting Report: Darius Johnson-Odom
Position: Shooting Guard
Size: 6-2, 215
School: Marquette, Senior
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Summary: If Darius Johnson-Odom were 6-5, he would be a sure-fire first-round pick due to his scoring ability. However, Johnson-Odom is 6-2 and not capable of running the point at the next level which makes him an undersized two guard. He will certainly get plenty of second-round looks and could sneak into the first round.
Player Comparison: Keyon Dooling. DJO faces the same challenge that Dooling did when entering the league in being an undersized shooting guard. Dooling was known for his athleticism coming out of college, and DJO has that same bounce but is a better outside shooter. Teams have tried to turn Dooling into a point guard and it has been rather unsuccessful, and the same thing will likely happen with Johnson-Odom as his natural fit is at the two.
