2012 NBA Draft Scouting Report: Fab Melo
Position: Center
Size: 7-0, 244
School: Syracuse, Sophomore
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Summary: Melo is still very much a work in progress but has already shown great growth from his freshman to sophomore season. At this point, his size is his biggest asset but as he continues to develop his all-around game, he will only help his draft stock. Based on size and potential alone, he would be a first-round pick in the 2012 NBA Draft.
Player Comparison: DeSagana Diop. Diop was a top-10 pick based on size and potential alone. Melo likely won’t be taken that high; any team that drafts him will be selecting based on his upside. Diop has become nothing more than a big body in the NBA, which is what Melo will ultimately be if he doesn’t groom his entire game.
