2012 NBA Draft Scouting Report: Patric Young
Position: Power Forward
Size: 6-9, 245
School: Florida, Sophomore
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Summary: Young has really become a threat on the inside due to his pure strength and hustle. Life won’t be that easy in the NBA when he goes against players who are just as physical, and even taller and longer. At this point of his career, Young is nothing more than a role player at the next level which makes it hard for me to believe a team will use a top-10 pick on him if he declares for the NBA Draft. He could still be a lottery pick though with a team hoping his offensive game develops.
Player Comparison: Reggie Evans. Limited in what he can do on the offensive end, Evans has made a living in the NBA with his rebounding and physicality. Until Young becomes a more well-rounded player with the ball in his hands, he will have to follow a similar path as Evans being a role player who defends and attacks the glass. Young is a much better athlete and more explosive than Evans, but those opportunities only come in transition or while cleaning up the glass.
