2013 NBA Draft Scouting Report: Michael Carter-Williams
Position: Point Guard
Size: 6-6, 185
School: Syracuse, Sophomore
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Summary: After waiting his turn as a freshman, Carter-Williams has broken onto the national scene as one of the top point guards in college basketball. He is a pure point guard with a tremendous ability to distribute the basketball and affect the game with his unique size for the position. If Carter-Williams continues to play at such a high level this season, he will be a lottery pick and perhaps the first true point guard taken in the 2013 NBA Draft.
Player Comparison: A taller Rajon Rondo. Rondo is a point guard first, a scorer second. Carter-Williams is an identical type of player. Both guys are one of the top distributors at their level, impact the game in a variety of ways, and are at their best in transition or attacking the tin, but struggling shoot the rock from the outside. It’s a stretch to say Carter-Williams will be as productive a pro as Rondo, but the former’s 6-6 size gives him a unique attribute that few point guards possess.
