Weaknesses:
Summary: In 2020, Booth took on a bigger role for the Tigers and had a solid season with 27 tackles, two interceptions and four passes broken up. He was the best corner for a Clemson team that made it to the College Football Playoff. As a junior in 2021, Booth collected 37 tackles, three interceptions and three passes broken up.
For the NFL, Booth is a well-rounded cornerback with a versatile skill set. He has the size and length to be a press-man corner. With his functional size and strength, Booth can reroute receivers and disrupt the timing of the play. Booth is solid in off-man coverage and can smartly read the play. With good instincts, Booth does an excellent job of breaking on the route to eat up any separation. He is skilled and natural at running the route with receivers.
Booth could fit pretty well playing lots of zone because he has good speed to eat up ground in a hurry. He will need a little more development for finishing plays and playing the ball. In terms of ball skills, Booth is solid, but unspectacular. He can be a little slow to react to passes some times. Booth’s instincts and awareness are okay, but not great. Sometimes, he shows very good anticipation, but is not always consistent.
In 2021, Booth showed the ability to contribute to the ground game and was a willing tackler. He could be a steady corner who supports in the ground game as a pro and is not a liability as a tackler downfield.
There are some projections of Booth going in the first round. While that is possible, he probably is more likely to be a second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Player Comparison: A.J. Terrell. Booth reminds me of Terrell coming out of Clemson in 2020. Both have good skill sets with upside. They didn’t always play consistently or up to their potential in college, but they clearly were ascending players. Terrell (6-1, 195) and Booth are virtually the same size, and they play the game very similarly after being developed by the same college coaching staff. Terrell has turned into an excellent corner for the Falcons, and if Booth receives good coaching, he could be a good corner early in his pro career as well.
