NFL Power Rankings 2025: Chiefs Out of the Top 10

My current NFL Power Rankings for the 2025 NFL season. Chiefs Out of the Top 10.

I’m going to use these rankings as the order for my 2026 NFL Mock Draft during the early stages of the 2025 season. Follow @walterfootball.

NFL Power Rankings updated Dec. 8, 2025

    Group A:

  1. Los Angeles Rams Los Angeles Rams (10-3) – Previously: 1.
The Rams were never going to move off the No. 1 spot based on what happened in Carolina last week. They lost to the Panthers in a pathetic display, but they outgained them in total yards and yards per play. They only lost because of three fluky turnovers by Matthew Stafford. This reminded me of the Eagles’ near loss to the Panthers late last year, which would have actually been a loss had Xavier Legette not dropped a touchdown on the final play.

If you haven’t visited the site in a while, you may have noticed the new look. Yes, after nearly two decades, we’ve finally re-designed our site to be more modern. This was not done on a whim, but rather out of necessity because of what occurred during the 2023 NFL Draft. Our site crashed during the entire first day of the draft, which was disastrous for our revenue stream because we make more money during the draft than any other time. The site crashed because a line of code conflicted with the old format of the site, so we had to transition to this new look.

Because we lost so much money during the draft, I want to point out that you can really help support the site by paying for the ad-free version of it. It’s $7.99 per month, but you’ll get a super-fast site with no ads. My developer will be adding new features to paid subscribers as well, so look for that in the near future. If you don’t want to pay, please spread the word about the site through word of mouth. That would also be a big help!

  2. Buffalo Bills Buffalo Bills (9-4) – Previously: 2.
The Bills have rebounded nicely in two games since their loss to the Texans. Josh Allen was incredible in the second half, while the run defene has been better. We’ll see how good they are in their rematch against the Patriots in Week 15.

  3. Seattle Seahawks Seattle Seahawks (10-3) – Previously: 3.
The Seahawks can look very good at times, but the level of competition is definitely a factor. They played only one team above Group C, which was a loss to the Group B 49ers back in Week 1 (when San Francisco was healthy enough to be in Group B.) The Seahawks have gone against four Group C teams and eight teams worse than that. They haven’t beaten anyone above 18th in these power rankings Still, they’re 10-3, and they had an impressive wins lately. The game against Atlanta was an obvious flat spot, yet the Seahawks slaughtered the Falcons.

  4. Philadelphia Eagles Philadelphia Eagles (8-4) – Previously: 4.
What a pathetic showing. The Eagles played with zero effort against the Bears, ruining things for those who picked them in the Circa Survivor. Those people should send an invoice to the Eagles, requesting some sort of payout.

  5. Green Bay Packers Green Bay Packers (9-3-1) – Previously: 6.
The Packers were underwhelming earlier in the year in losses to the Panthers and Browns, and near-defeats to the Cardinals and Joe Flacco-led Bengals. However, they’ve been much better over the past three weeks. They won in a blowout over the Vikings, held multiple 10-point leads in Detroit, and were able to soundly beat the hot Bears. With all of the receivers back on the field – minus Tucker Kraft, of course – the Packers can move into Group A.

  6. Group B:

  7. New England Patriots New England Patriots (11-2) – Previously: 7.
The Patriots are for real, as evidenced by their outright win in Buffalo. They would be 12-1 right now if they didn’t blow the Pittsburgh game with all of their stupid fumbles. It’s amazing how much of a difference great coaching makes, as Mike Vrabel has made all the right moves thus far.

Unfortunately for New England, the team suffered a huge loss against the Bengals with Will Campbell getting carted off the field. They were able to beat the Giants without Campbell, but we’ll see how they do versus Buffalo and Baltimore after the bye.

  8. Detroit Lions NFL Power Rankings Detroit Lions (8-5) – Previously: 8.
The Lions managed to stay alive with a win over Dallas, but they are not in good shape. They desperately need home-field advantage because Jared Goff simply can’t play in poor weather conditions, especially when going up against a team that can generate tons of pressure. Given the Lions’ 8-5 record, it’s highly unlikely that they’ll avoid playing outside come January. They may not even make it to January, given that their record. Their pass defense has been atrocious.

  9. Dallas Cowboys Dallas Cowboys (6-6-1) – Previously: 9.
I said the dumbest thing of all time last week, save for when ESPN DEI hire Mina Kimes opined that Geno Smith was a top-10 quarterback heading into 2025. I mentioned that the Cowboys were a team that others were potentially scared of heading into the playoffs. What a fool I was for forgetting how Dak Prescott is the least-clutch quarterback in the NFL. The defense didn’t help matters, obviously.

  10. Houston Texans Houston Texans (8-5) – Previously: 11.
The Texans continued their great play on Sunday night, albeit only defensively. C.J. Stroud was anemic at times against a defense that entered the week ranked 27th in defense. Still, Houston is now 8-5, and happens to be looking for a potential playoff run.

  11. Jacksonville Jaguars Jacksonville Jaguars (9-4) – Previously: 17.
The Jaguars are better than what they’ve been earlier in the season. Jakobi Meyers is such an important presence for Trevor Lawrence because Lawrence has never had a professional receiver in his career. He’s played with talented receivers, but all of them were either mistake-prone or fragile.

  12. Kansas City Chiefs NFL Power Rankings Kansas City Chiefs (6-7) – Previously: 5.
Now that the Chiefs have a losing record, I feel obligated to move them out of Group A. And frankly, Group B might be too much for this dreadful team.

  13. Chicago Bears Chicago Bears (9-4) – Previously: 13.
The Bears had a tougher time against the Packers than the no-effort Eagles. However, they’re moving up in these power rankings because they’ve gotten some key defenders back from injury. I’m also very impressed with their offensive line.

  14. Group C:

  15. Denver Broncos Denver Broncos (11-2) – Previously: 12.
The Broncos are 11-2, but you can’t really take them seriously as a Super Bowl contender with their close wins against the Raiders, Jets, Giants, Titans, and now the Redskins. Bo Nix was awful in the Thursday night victory versus Las Vegas. He was so inept that he must have thought he was battling the ’85 Bears instead of the terrible Raiders defense. Nix came back to beat the Chiefs, but Kansas City continued to underwhelm. Nearly losing to Washington should just result in a loss.

  16. San Francisco 49ers San Francisco 49ers (9-4) – Previously: 14.
The 49ers have too many defensive injuries to make a deep playoff run, but perhaps they can win one postseason game if Brock Purdy and the rest of the offense remains healthy. They won by 18 points against the Browns, but couldn’t outgain Cleveland in terms of total yards or yards per play because the Browns constantly gave them short fields because of stupid mistakes.

  17. Baltimore Ravens Baltimore Ravens (6-7) – Previously: 10.
So much for the Ravens running the table. They had a very disappointing Thanksgiving night loss to the Bengals in which they turned the ball over five times. After that, Lamar Jackson and the defense played terribly against the Steelers in a pathetic display. It looked like the Ravens would be a force entering the playoffs, but they may not even get there.

  18. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-6) – Previously: 15.
The Buccaneers simply cannot beat top-tier competition. They’re 0-4 against Group A teams this year. They couldn’t even beat the Saints in a completely embarrassing defeat. The same thing nearly happened in Week 18 last year, but the Buccaneers won that close game against the Spencer Rattler-led Saints.

  19. Cincinnati Bengals Cincinnati Bengals (4-9) – Previously: 16.
That’s exactly why I moved the Bengals up from 26 to 17 because of Joe Burrow’s return. They went toe to toe with the Bills in snowy Buffalo, but lost where two plays were really the only difference. This loss probably means that the Bengals won’t make the playoffs, but they’ll be fun to watch down the stretch.

  20. Los Angeles Chargers San Angeles Chargers (8-4) – Previously: 19.
The Chargers beat the Raiders by 17, but we still don’t know if their issues are fixed because games against the Raiders barely count as wins in the standings.

  21. Pittsburgh Steelers Pittsburgh Steelers (7-6) – Previously: 20.
The Steelers retained sole possession of first place in the division with their inexplicable win in Baltimore. They allowed 300 rushing yards to the Bills, but easily clamped down on the Ravens. Aaron Rodgers, meanwhile, somehow looked like he was in MVP form again.

  22. Minnesota Vikings Minnesota Vikings (5-8) – Previously: 27.
I’m so pissed that Jayden Daniels returned this past week because I loved the Vikings when Marcus Mariota was expected to start. This was J.J. McCarthy’s easiest matchup in the pros because he hadn’t battled a defense worse than 14th in EPA since he returned from injury. The Redskins are dead last in defense and were exhausted from their overtime game against Denver.

  23. Arizona Cardinals Arizona Cardinals (3-10) – Previously: 21.
The Cardinals are seven plays away from being 9-3, which is crazy but true. Arizona got blown out by the Rams, which resembled what occurred against the Seahawks and 49ers recently. The Cardinals have shown that they can be competitive against mediocre teams, but they’ve gotten crushed whenever playing up in competition.

  24. Group D:

  25. Carolina Panthers Carolina Panthers (7-6) – Previously: 22.
Somehow, some way, the Panthers are 7-6. If they make the playoffs, they could end up being the worst team to ever make the playoffs in NFL history. They have a negative point differential and were extremely lucky to win many of their games this season.

  26. Miami Dolphins Miami Dolphins (6-7) – Previously: 26.
The Dolphins were outgained by the Redskins in total yards and yards per play. They were about even with the Saints in yardage. I’ve moved the Dolphins to Group D because they have Darren Waller back from injury, so they have another threat. Their win over the Jets was nice, but Tyrod Taylor’s absence prevented the Jets from mounting a comeback.

  27. Indianapolis Colts Indianapolis Colts (8-5) – Previously: 18.
I compared the Colts to a seemingly hot girl at the bar, but when the lights go on, she’s revealed to be a hideous beast. Now, without Daniel Jones, the Colts are even worse. What’s worse than hideous beast? Rosie O’Donnell is the only thing that comes to mind.

  28. Atlanta Falcons Atlanta Falcons (4-9) – Previously: 23.
The Falcons have a Group B roster – now downgraded with Michael Penix Jr. being injured – but a Group F head coach. Raheem Morris is the worst head coach in the NFL. Do you think the Falcons could have used some rest following their 11-hour flight home from Germany when the Panthers were mounting a comeback against them? Why didn’t Morris take the bye after playing in Europe? And it was no surprise that they suffered a letdown after beating the Saints. It was also no surprise that they fell apart against the Seahawks following an impressive first half against them.

  29. Cleveland Browns Cleveland Browns (3-10) – Previously: 24.
It’s hard to believe that the Browns once again lost with the great Shedeur Sanders, who actually put together a great fantasy performance in the defeat to the Titans. Still, a loss to the Titans should warrant a demotion from the NFL to the CFL.

  30. New York Giants New York Giants (2-11) – Previously: 25.
The Giants would have played closer to the Patriots if it weren’t for all the special teams gaffes they had. It didn’t help that Mike Kafka made a million coaching mistakes throughout the evening.

  31. Group F:

  32. Washington Redskins Washington Redskins (3-10) – Previously: 28.
Surprise, surprise, Jayden Daniels suffered another injury. Why did the Redskins bring him back so soon?

  33. New Orleans Saints New Orleans Saints (3-10) – Previously: 30.
There might actually be one first-round quarterback in the 2026 NFL Draft if Ty Simpson and Dante Moore return to school, so the Saints could go with Tyler Shough again next season. Shough finally showed some promise against a decent defense, beating the Buccaneers.

  34. New York Jets New York Jets (3-10) – Previously: 29.
New York’s 3-10 record is especially remarkable because it’s gone against Group C-F teams in 10 of its 13 games. The only teams they’ve battled all year that are above average are the Bills, Patriots, and the Ravens. All three of those games were decided by double digits.

  35. Tennessee Titans Tennessee Titans (2-11) – Previously: 32.
The Titans are now 7-26 against the spread since Week 1 of last year. They covered three in a row before the Jacksonville game, but two of those came because of Chimere Dike punt return touchdowns. Tennessee went back to its covering ways against the Browns, who inexplicably forgot how to play defense.

  36. Las Vegas Raiders Las Vegas Raiders (2-11) – Previously: 31.
The Raiders inched closer to being able to select a quarterback near the top of the 2026 NFL Draft. Of course, ESPN DEI hire Mina Kimes will argue against this because she insists that Geno Smith is a top-10 NFL quarterback.

2025 NFL MVP Projection:

1. Drake Maye, QB, Patriots
2. Matthew Stafford, QB, Rams
3. Josh Allen, QB, Bills
4. Jaxson Smith-Njigba, WR, Seahawks
5. Jordan Love, QB, Packers
