Since being the No. 1 overall-pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Jacksonville Jaguars defensive lineman Travon Walker has been a solid pro and a dependable presence for the Jaguars defense. Jacksonville has had a lot of change during his time, but Walker has adapted and shown versatility. After the third season, Jacksonville picked up his fifth-year option, and now sources say they plan to give Walker a contract extension in the next year to keep him from hitting free agency.
Walker has had solid production in his career, but has not been prolific. In his second season, Walker totaled 10 sacks and followed it up with 10.5 sacks and 61 tackles in the 2024 season. Last year, his sack total dipped to 3.5, but sources say that Walker did a lot for the team that did not show up on the stat sheet. Sources say that Walker is excellent at setting the edge. Steadily causes disruption in the backfield and is consistent in putting pressure on the quarterback. He is also very versatile, being able to line up as a nine, seven, five, or three technique.
The Jaguars could use more help on defense to take the next step in the competitive AFC. In my latest 2026 NFL Mock Draft, I have the Jaguars taking some defensive help in the second round. Losing a quality starter like Walker would set them back, and sources say Jacksonville is planning on extending Walker this year.
