Some GMs see Top-20 Ability for Jermond McCoy

With the college football coming to a close, one of the top prospects for the 2026 NFL Draft has gone under the radar due to an injury that caused him to miss the season. However, Tennessee cornerback Jermod McCoy has such good tape from the 2024 season that there are a lot of evaluators who are really high on him. In speaking with one NFC general manager, he thinks McCoy is a first-round pick and has top-20 ability.

Of course, the medical evaluation could cause a change in where McCoy gets drafted. The Combine medical check and other exams will be critical for McCoy to not get ruled out medically. McCoy had an excellent sophomore season with 44 tackles, four interceptions, and seven passes broken up. He played well in 2023 at Oregon State with 31 tackles, two interceptions, and seven breakups. The 6-foot, 190-pounder has quality size to go with speed.

In my latest 2026 NFL Mock Draft, I have McCoy cracking the top-20. With good tape, that opening projection seems like a good chance of happening if his medical evaluation goes well.
