2012 NBA Draft Scouting Report: Kyle O’Quinn
Position: Center
Size: 6-10, 240
School: Norfolk State, Senior
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Summary: O’Quinn made a name for himself on the national stage in helping 15th-seeded Norfolk State knock off Missouri in the opening round of the 2012 NCAA Tournament. Because of his size, length and toughness, he should get second-round looks as a potential backup big man in the NBA.
Player Comparison: Adonal Foyle. Foyle came from a small school (Colgate) and never lived up to his potential of being the eighth-overall pick 1997 NBA Draft. Still, Foyle’s size alone allowed him to have an 11-year career as a pro. O’Quinn will also face a major challenge in adjusting from playing against low-level Division I talent to NBA players. Like Foyle though, O’Quinn has the size to be an asset on a team’s roster.
