2025 NFL Draft Stock Up
Travis Hunter, CB, Colorado
A week ago, it looked like Hunter could slip to the fourth or fifth pick in the draft. With Cam Ward the likely No. 1 pick and Shedeur Sanders in play for the Giants at No. 3, it appeared that Hunter could slide to the fifth pick considering the Patriots just signed veteran cornerback Carlton Davis to go with Christian Gonzalez. But once the Giants signed veteran quarterback Russell Wilson, that makes it very likely that New York will pass on Sanders. Hunter now is likely head to the Big Apple with the third-overall pick in the draft. The Giants could use more cornerback talent and Hunter is a plug-and-play upgrade. Hunter looks very likely to be a top-three pick after the Wilson signing.
Trey Amos, CB, Ole Miss
The big question that scouts had with Amos was his speed. Amos is a big corner with good tape from his time with the Rebels and Alabama. He is a gritty corner with impressive coverage ability, but teams wondered if Amos was speed deficient for running with pro receivers. However, Amos addressed those concerns with a fast 40 at the combine. With a good skill set and tape, Amos is in the running to be the third cornerback drafted after Travis Hunter and Will Johnson.
Jalon Walker, OLB, Georgia
As we reported in the Hot Press, Walker is the slight favorite to be the second pass rusher drafted after Abdul Carter. Walker has versatility to rush off the edge or play off the ball linebacker. Along with having pass rush skills, Walker is said to have good character and leadership skills. Walker could go in the top-10.
Jahdae Barron, CB, Texas
Barron is another cornerback that is in the running to be the third cornerback drafted. Barron was a steady and consistent defender.
Tyler Shough, QB, Texas Tech
Shough has had a strong spring with impressive performances at the Senior Bowl and NFL Scouting Combine. In terms of skill sets, Shough could have the best set of tools of any quarerback prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft. He has good size, a big arm, and athleticism. Early in his career at Oregon, Shough looked like he could become a potential high first-rounder but injuries took away a lot of playing time. Shough has great upside, and he could be a sleeper steal in this draft.
2025 NFL Draft Stock Down
Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado
The Giants signing Russell Wilson was a significant blow to Sanders going high in the first round. If Aaron Rodgers signs with the Steelers, that would add another lost landing spot for Sanders on the opening night of the draft. After these free agent additions, Sanders has the potential to have a significant slide.
Savion Williams, WR, TCU
The 2025 NFL Draft is not loaded with receiving playmakers, and Williams is one of the most physically gifted players. He has an excellent combination of speed, size, strength, and athleticism. However in speaking with team sources, they have concerns about Williams learning the playbook. That could really hurt him and cause him to slide out of the early rounds.
