Path to the Draft: April 7, 2011

Below, you can find various tidbits of NFL Draft rumors and information offered by Mike Mayock, Michael Lombardi and the rest of the Path to the Draft crew on the NFL Network. I posted these in my forum, but I thought it would be better to keep all the draft rumors together in this section. I'll be tweeting these during Path to the Draft at @walterfootball.

  • Mike Mayock: Kyle Rudolph had a workout today worthy of a first-round tight end (4.82 40).

  • Mike Mayock: Remember, when Kyle Rudolph runs a 4.82, he's only three weeks removed from injury. His only issue is durability.

  • Mike Mayock: I believe Kyle Rudolph will go anywhere between 24 and 40.

  • Charley Casserly: I see him the same as Mike, Kyle Rudolph is a late 1, early 2; needs to improve his strength.

  • Charley Casserly: Give Alex Smith a chance with a new staff.

  • Charley Casserly: I don't see an outside linebacker there in the top 10 that the 49ers would be happy with. Amukamara, sound pick.

  • Charley Casserly has Blaine Gabbert ahead of Mark Sanchez, Joe Flacco and Josh Freeman ahead as prospects.

  • Charley Casserly only ranks Sam Bradford, Matthew Stafford and Matt Ryan ahead of Blaine Gabbert over the past couple of years.

  • Charley Casserly: Matt Ryan's edges over Blaine Gabbert - senior season, pro-style offense.

  • Charley Casserly: You can go back and forth between Blaine Gabbert and Matthew Stafford. Accuracy is identical.

  • Charley Casserly: Blaine Gabbert can read a defense. He made all the throws in the Iowa game. Smart guy, leader. Can be a star.

  • Charley Casserly: I have people telling me that Blaine Gabbert took snaps from center in practice.

  • Charley Casserly: Blaine Gabbert made reads in his spread. He made decisions, went from 1 to 2. Sam Bradford had to learn, and he did it

  • Charley Casserly: I would take Blaine Gabbert at No. 1. He's not the best player, but Carolina can make a quick jump with a QB.

  • Mike Mayock to Kyle Rudolph: End of the day, a 1st-round pick? Rudolph: I think so.

  • Charley Casserly: Akeem Ayers solidified his position at the end of the first round (Ted Thompson seen talking to Ayers)

  • Charley Casserly: Mikel Leshoure has more talent than Mark Ingram. I compare Leshoure to Steven Jackson.

  • Charley Casserly: I think Ingram and Leshoure are late ones, but not a lot of teams need running backs.

  • Mike Mayock: Ian Williams is a Round 4-6 pick, a 3-4 nose tackle.

  • Charles Davis: Many scouts say Jimmy Smith has the same ability as the top two corners in this draft class.

  • Jason La Canfora: The Redskins are looking at Tyron Smith.

  • Jason La Canfora: Ben Ijalana is generating some attention. Wouldn't surprise me if he sneaks into the first round.
