@8900ll Booby Griffin could never read a defense, never get his footwork right on drop backs, and wasn't even that good despite running a gimmick offense built just for him. Wentz played in a real offense in college and is already 10x the pocket passer that Sir Cheats-A-Lot ever was.
Below, you can find various tidbits of NFL Draft rumors and information offered by Mike Mayock, Michael Lombardi and the rest of the Path to the Draft crew on the NFL Network. I posted these in my forum, but I thought it would be better to keep all the draft rumors together in this section. I'll be tweeting these during Path to the Draft at @walterfootball.
Charley Casserly: No quarterback is a franchise quarterback in this draft.
Brian Baldinger: If the best player on the board is Patrick Peterson - and he's my favorite player in this draft - I don't know why he can't go No. 1 or thought of as going No. 1.
Charley Casserly: I have no problem with taking a cornerback with the first pick in the draft. But I don't think Patrick Peterson is the top player. I have Von Miller and A.J. Green ahead of him.
Brian Baldinger: Offensive line is Baltimore's No. 1 need. Jared Gaither is off the board for them - they can't count on him. There's a glaring hole at right tackle.
Brian Baldinger: If Gabe Carimi is there at No. 26, the Ravens would take him. Derek Sherrod could go in there if Carimi's off the board.
Charley Casserly: Akeem Ayers and Brooks Reed have some pass-rush ability for the Ravens.
Charley Casserly: A.J. Smith has been aggressive in the past. History says he could move up to take a defensive end.
Charley Casserly: The Lions should trade over Houston and Washington to get Prince Amukamara.
Charley Casserly: If I'm Tampa Bay, and St. Louis is on the clock, I go to the Rams to jump over the Jaguars to take a defensive end.
Charley Casserly: Da'Quan Bowers is a good player, a top-10 player, but not an elite player. On the medical, it's said that Bowers won't have a long career. I would have to pass on this guy in the first round.
Brian Baldinger: All football players get hurt, but this is a bad year to get injured especially with all of these defensive linemen in the draft. It's very hard to look at Bowers and take him with all of those other opportunities.
Brian Baldinger: When you look at Aldon Smith, I think he's going to fit in perfectly in Wade Phillips' defense in Houston. Smith is very similar to DeMarcus Ware.
Brian Baldinger: I think you can plug this in right now - Aldon Smith will be Wade Phillips' guy with the 11th pick.
