Below, you can find various tidbits of NFL Draft rumors and information offered by Mike Mayock, Michael Lombardi and the rest of the Path to the Draft crew on the NFL Network. I posted these in my forum, but I thought it would be better to keep all the draft rumors together in this section. I'll be tweeting these during Path to the Draft at @walterfootball.
Mike Mayock: Muhammad Wilkerson will be chosen 20-32, but won't get past that. His upside is too high.
Mike Mayock: "You see Nick Fairley take an awful lot of plays off. If you don't buy into him, he's not even on your board."
Michael Lombardi: "Some teams have Jake Locker as a 3rd-4th rounder. Some teams have him in the top 10."
Mike Mayock: "Akeem Ayers is most natural with his hand in the dirt, rushing the passer."
Who is this guy on NFL Network saying the Texans are going to draft Von Miller or Phil Taylor with the 11th pick? Horrible.
Mike Mayock: "One of them (Blaine Gabbert or Cam Newton) HAS to go to Carolina at 1."
Mike Mayock: "Blaine Gabbert is looked at as the cleaner of the two picks. The teams I talked to think Gabbert is the cleanest."
Mike Mayock: "Julio Jones is a more natural West Coast receiver than A.J. Green. It wouldn't surprise me if CLE or CIN took Jones."
Mike Mayock: "I believe that today, Julio would go before A.J."
Mike Mayock: "I was blown away by Buster Skrine at the Combine (but) he got beat 3 times vs. Auburn in the first quarter. 5th-6th"
Mike Mayock: "Will Rackley is a SOLID third-round guard."
Mike Mayock: "I don't think Kenrick Ellis is going to get out of the second round."
Mike Mayock: "Nate Solder is a 1- to 2-year project. I think Solder goes in the early 20s."
Michael Lombardi likes Nate Solder's "short trunks" (not that there's anything wrong with that).
Rockies and Diamondbacks fail yesterday, at least the Astros and Nats came through. For today: Closing two pars with Red Sox-178 in one and Nats -+169 in the other. In another ongoing par going in the second tier spot of a four team par will be the Astros -205. Start up par with the Dodgers -163, (Kershaw), two open. Still thinking about the Yankees in a start up. GLTA today.
