The Falcons have opened the window for WR Beaux Collins to return from injured reserve, according to Daniel Flick of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Redskins WR Jaylin Lane had surgery to repair his fractured and dislocated ankle on Oct. 9, according to a source. The procedure was successful, and Lane is expected to be cleared for football activities just before OTAs. (Tashan Reed, The Athletic)

Broncos coach Sean Payton said Jonah Elliss's injury is not season-ending, but it sounds like IR later this week for Elliss.

Jonah Coleman, designated for return from IR after an ankle injury, was back at practice for the Broncos on Wednesday.

Buccaneers WR Emeka Egbuka is in concussion protocol and has a foot injury.
Our Take: We had Egbuka projected for 11 fantasy points at Carolina in our Fantasy WR Rankings, noting that he would benefit from Baker Mayfield returning.

Panthers head coach Dave Canales says OLB Jaelan Phillips will not play this week against the Buccaneers, and the team will "see" about the quick turnaround next week at Green Bay. Canales said the Panthers have to take care of Phillips' hamstring: "The MRIs, the findings, this is something we're gonna have to treat more intensely."

The Redskins have hired Steve Wilks to work with the defensive coaches under Dan Quinn and Daronte Jones. The decision to hire Wilks was made last month, and he started last week. Wilks will help with game planning but won't be with the team on game days. (Mike Garafolo, Ian Rapoport)

Patriots coach Mike Vrabel says five players are out for Thursday's game against the Bears: starting LG Alijah Vera-Tucker (hamstring), starting RG Ben Brown (knee), starting CB Carlton Davis III (neck), and reserve CBs Karon Prunty (hamstring) and Channing Canada (hamstring).
Our Take: In our Week 7 NFL Picks, we said we would consider a small wager on the Bears if New England was missing key offensive linemen on a short week. Both starting guards are now out.

The Rams placed DE Kobie Turner on injured reserve.
Our Take: We already moved the Rams down a spot in our NFL Power Rankings after they lost Turner and Poona Ford, among others.

Giants CB Paulson Adebo was practicing Wednesday, so the team is opening his window to return from IR.

Ravens CB T.J. Tampa is practicing, which means his 21-day window to come off IR has started. He injured his knee in the season opener.

Dolphins S Kyle Louis will have his practice window opened and is returning to practice today after several weeks without practice. "We've got to see," Jeff Hafley said. "I have to see how he practices and how he feels."

Per a source, the Giants plan to start J.J. McCarthy on Sunday vs. Houston.
Our Take: Don't be fooled by McCarthy's numbers last week. The Saints benched their starters, and most of his production came in garbage time. We project him for just 16 fantasy points at Houston in our Fantasy QB Rankings.

Saints rookie WR Jordyn Tyson will not practice this week, per GM Mickey Loomis. His debut will come, at the earliest, in Week 9 after the bye. Loomis said it's not the same injury Tyson had before and that he is improving: "we feel like we're getting closer."
Our Take: We gave the Saints an A for landing Tyson at No. 8, since we saw him as the top receiver in the class. His injury history was the one concern, and it's keeping him off the field. When he does return, he should cut into the other Saints receivers' targets.

Bills DB Sam Franklin Jr. has been suspended without pay for one game for spitting at an opponent during Sunday's game against the Raiders. Per sources, Franklin denies the allegation and will appeal.
Our Take: This doesn't help a Bills defense that already needs to improve. Buffalo is still the best team in the conference, but that side of the ball is what could hold it back.

Rams TE Terrance Ferguson, who is eligible to come off IR next week, is not expected to be ready at that time. His recovery, in the words of a source, "will take some time."

The NFL lifted Dre Greenlaw's suspension and granted the 49ers a one-day roster exemption for him that expires Wednesday. San Francisco already released DT Naquan Jones to make room on the 53.

The Packers signed DT Mazi Smith to their practice squad and released RB Damon Bankston from the practice squad.
