2014 Fantasy Football Rankings - Quarterbacks (Aug. 30):
Top 10 | 11-20 | 21-35

  1. Jake Locker, QB, Titans. Bye: 9.
Jake Locker will get a chance to start next year, and he figures to be better under Ken Whisenhunt’s tutelage. There are still questions about his durability, but I kind of like Locker as a QB2 sleeper.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 3,200 passing yards. 20 passing TDs. 12 INTs. 300 rushing yards. 3 rushing TDs.
Projected 2014 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 232.

  2. Joe Flacco, QB, Ravens. Bye: 11.
Hurt by losing Anquan Boldin and not having Dennis Pitta on the field, Joe Flacco threw more interceptions than touchdowns for the first time in his career. He’ll rebound a bit, but Ozzie Newsome did him no favors by failing to upgrade the receiving corps.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 3,900 passing yards. 21 passing TDs. 14 INTs. 80 rushing yards. 1 rushing TD.
Projected 2014 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 226.

  3. Alex Smith, QB, Chiefs. Bye: 6.
Alex Smith coasted in 2013, thanks to a ridiculously easy strength of schedule. Things will be much more difficult in 2014 because the Chiefs have to take on the NFC West.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 3,100 passing yards. 20 passing TDs. 11 INTs. 360 rushing yards. 1 rushing TD.
Projected 2014 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 224.

  4. Carson Palmer, QB, Cardinals. Bye: 4.
Carson Palmer was responsible for more turnovers (25) than touchdowns (24) in 2013, but he was still a decent spot starter because of his ability to post 300 yards or two scores. Unfortunately, battling the NFC West foes six times per year takes him out of high QB2 range.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 4,100 passing yards. 23 passing TDs. 18 INTs. 20 rushing yards. 0 rushing TDs.
Projected 2014 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 222.

  5. Blake Bortles, QB, Jaguars. Bye: 11.
Blake Bortles is a big quarterback who can move around and pick up rushing yards. He won’t be completely useless in dynasty leagues, but there’s no reason to own him in a standard format. He’s not a bad QB3 in 2-QB leagues.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 2,900 passing yards. 16 passing TDs. 18 INTs. 340 rushing yards. 4 rushing TDs.
Projected 2014 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 202.

  6. Shaun Hill, QB, Rams. Bye: 4.
Shaun Hill will start for Sam Bradford, who is out for the year. He’s not much of a fantasy option.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 3,300 passing yards. 21 passing TDs. 15 INTs. 70 rushing yards. 0 rushing TDs.
Projected 2014 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 193.

  7. Eli Manning, QB, Giants. Bye: 8.
AUG. 29: Eli Manning, who at this stage resembles a rotting carcass, went 1-of-4 for zero yards in the preseason finale versus players who won’t be in the league much longer. One of Manning’s passes was dropped by Rueben Randle, but another attempt to Randle wasn’t even close to him. Manning was then way wide of Victor Cruz on a routine, short throw. Part of the problem is the offensive line, which can’t protect Manning to save its life. However, that doesn’t explain why Manning looks like he’s aged 10 years in a single offseason. He’s undraftable in all 12-team formats.

AUG. 17: We’ve seen Eli Manning in three preseason games now, and he hasn’t shown any signs that he can still be a functional quarterback. His pass protection is abysmal, but even when he has time, he’s not doing anything with it. Manning was especially brutal against the Colts, going 1-of-7 for six yards. It’s fair to wonder if he’s even a QB2 at this point.

JULY 22: All Giants are getting a slight bump down in the rankings today in the wake of Chris Snee’s retirement. The offensive line was a big issue for the team last year, and it appears as though that’ll be the case once again now that it’s clear Snee won’t be returning.

Many things went wrong in the worst full season of Eli Manning’s career, but the Giants will rebound next year. Keep in mind that of Manning’s 27 interceptions, 15 came in the first six weeks of the year. With Odell Beckham on the roster to bolster the receiving corps, Manning is a buy-low candidate.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 3,850 passing yards. 20 passing TDs. 23 INTs. 30 rushing yards. 0 rushing TDs.
Projected 2014 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 191.

  8. E.J. Manuel, QB, Bills. Bye: 9.
E.J. Manuel proved to be a huge fantasy disappointment in 2013, rushing for just 186 yards and two touchdowns in 10 games. He’s not even a QB2.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 2,500 passing yards. 15 passing TDs. 14 INTs. 300 rushing yards. 4 rushing TDs.
Projected 2014 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 186.

  9. Matt Schaub, QB, Raiders. Bye: 5.
Matt Schaub’s confidence was shaken with all of those pick-sixes last year. We’ll see if his mentality improves this year. He’s not someone you’d want to own regardless, as he could be yanked in favor of Derek Carr once the Raiders are officially eliminated from the playoffs.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 2,700 passing yards. 15 passing TDs. 13 INTs. 20 rushing yards. 0 rushing TDs.
Projected 2014 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 165.

  10. QB Jets No. 8, QB, Jets. Bye: 11.
The Jets signed QBDK, and he will be their starting quarterback – until he suffers an injury and misses a handful of games. His rushing ability continues to disappear, so don’t bother rostering him.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 2,200 passing yards. 10 passing TDs. 14 INTs. 300 rushing yards. 2 rushing TDs.
Projected 2014 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 142.

  11. Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Vikings. Bye: 10.
Contrary to popular belief, Teddy Bridgewater is not a rusher. Thus, even if he becomes the starter, he’s not much of a fantasy option in the near future.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 1,900 passing yards. 13 passing TDs. 11 INTs. 90 rushing yards. 1 rushing TDs.
Projected 2014 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 121.

  12. Matt Cassel, QB, Vikings. Bye: 10.
Matt Cassel will probably start some games to kick off the season, but he won’t last very long.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 1,700 passing yards. 11 passing TDs. 9 INTs. 50 rushing yards. 1 rushing TD.
Projected 2014 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 105.

  13. Geno Smith, QB, Jets. Bye: 11.
Geno Smith is unlikely to start many games this year, so there’s no reason to own him.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 1,500 passing yards. 8 passing TDs. 9 INTs. 170 rushing yards. 2 rushing TDs.
Projected 2014 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 101.

  14. Johnny Manziel, QB, Browns. Bye: 4.
AUG. 23: Mike Pettine has discussed the possibility that 2014 could be a redshirt season for Johnny Manziel. There was already no reason to draft Manziel.

AUG. 21: Brian Hoyer has been named the starting quarterback for the Browns. Johnny Manziel, meanwhile, continues to struggle with the team’s playbook. Maybe he shouldn’t have rolled so many $20s in shady bathrooms. For more on how much Manziel sucks, check out the Rookie Quarterback Rankings.

JULY 7: Days after being asked to tone down his act, Johnny Manziel was photographed rolling money in a bathroom in a Las Vegas club. Manziel clearly is not taking his profession seriously, and if he keeps going down this road, he’ll be out of the league in a few years, and he’ll no longer have any money to roll. In the meantime, it’s now hard to imagine Manziel winning the starting job right away.

Johnny Manziel is the top rookie quarterback in both standard and dynasty formats. He has no receiving corps, but Manziel will make up for it by picking up tons of rushing yardage on the ground. He projects as a decent QB2 this year.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 1,200 passing yards. 5 passing TDs. 9 INTs. 250 rushing yards. 3 rushing TDs.
Projected 2014 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 93.

  15. Derek Carr, QB, Raiders. Bye: 5.
Derek Carr probably won’t start many games this year, so he’s only an option in dynasty formats.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 1,200 passing yards. 6 passing TDs. 8 INTs. 50 rushing yards. 1 rushing TD.
Projected 2014 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 67.

  16. Sam Bradford, QB, Rams. Bye: 4.
Torn ACL. Out for the year.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 0 passing yards. 0 passing TDs. 0 INTs. 0 rushing yards. 0 rushing TDs.
Projected 2014 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 0.
