Below, you can find various tidbits of NFL Draft rumors and information offered by Mike Mayock, Michael Lombardi and the rest of the Path to the Draft crew on the NFL Network. I posted these in my forum, but I thought it would be better to keep all the draft rumors together in this section. I'll be tweeting these during Path to the Draft at @walterfootball.
Mike Mayock: There are still questions about Da'Quan Bowers. He fatigued during the position drills. I had him in the high 4.9s.
Mike Mayock: Jarvis Jenkins is a 2nd-round defensive tackle, worst case scenario. There's a buzz about this kid.
Charley Casserly: Da'Quan Bowers has entered more doubt into people's minds.
Michael Lombardi: There's going to be a lot of medical questions. No one's going to be comfortable with Da'Quan Bowers after this workout
Bucky Brooks: Da'Quan Bowers needs to work out well over the next couple of weeks to salvage this Pro Day.
Michael Lombardi: Da'Quan Bowers can still improve himself. It's going to come down to the final moments.
Michael Lombardi: Teams drafting from 11-20, maybe 25, are back in the Da'Quan Bowers race so they'll be doing their homework.
Michael Lombardi on the PFW report: I don't think it's racial. Ryan Mallett faces similar criticisms.
Tom Kowalski: The Lions are expecting big things about Jahvid Best. His injuries were under the radar last year.
Tom Kowalski: Prince Amukamara could be pushed down the draft. The Lions will take a hard look at him.
Tom Kowalski: I think they will go offensive tackle. It's a long-term need. Tyron Smith can develop; can play RT if Cherilus is hurt.
Michael Lombardi: The offensive line is where they need to start. I think they'll certainly go there.
Charley Casserly: The Lions are desperate at corner. If Prince Amukamara is there, they'll take him. They may even trade up.
Charley Casserly also mentions Nate Solder at No. 13 and Daniel Thomas in a later round.
Michael Lombardi: The Lions can find a way to utilize Aldon Smith. They're not going to let a blue-chip player fall past them.
Da'Quan Bowers: "My knee felt fine - 100 percent."
Charley Casserly's mock draft: 1) AJ Green. 2) "Marcellus" Dareus. 3) Patrick Peterson. 4) Blaine Gabbert. 5) Von Miller...
Charley Casserly's mock draft: 6) Robert Quinn. 7) Prince Amukamara. 8) Nick Fairley. 9) Tyron Smith. 10) Aldon Smith.
Charley Casserly: If I was betting on it, I don't think Carolina takes a wide receiver (so why mock Green to the Panthers?)
Michael Lombardi: It's a concern that Da'Quan Bowers thinks he had a good workout. That's as troubling as anything.
Charley Casserly agrees with Michael Lombardi - Teams in the 10-20 range need to do their homework on Bowers because he'll be there.
Michael Lombardi: Dallas is spending a lot of time with Tyron Smith. I think that's the position they want to go.
Charley Casserly: The best place for Ryan Mallett to be is in a non-pressure situation. He's my No. 2 QB behind Blaine Gabbert.
Michael Lombardi: Ryan Mallett's group at the Combine seemed to gravitate toward him and saw him as a leader.
Bucky Brooks: Greg Little will sneak into the bottom of the second round.
Steve Wyche: Da'Quan Bowers was so-so. 40 was disappointing; drills were solid. It comes down to the medical reports.
I like your write up on Trubisky. I also like the gutsy move of Mahomes at #2 especially with Garrett on the board. However, there are glaring mistakes elsewhere. No way, the Saints draft a RB in 1st round after paying Peterson to be the primary back up to Ingram. Plus, they desperately need talent on the defensive side of the ball. Also, the Browns 2nd pick wouldn't be a rush OLB when they are converting to a base 4-3 and have Jamie Collins at the Sam.
