Too straight up when going into breaks; doesn't sell
Struggles to separate
Below average speed
Lacks deep speed
Unimpressive vision after catch
Summary: I just don't see a natural receiver whatsoever when I put on tape of Thomas, who is considering declaring for the 2010 NFL Draft as a junior after his big season. He lacks speed and there is simply too much development needed to warrant a high second-round pick. Don't buy the hype. Thomas is a projected third-to-fourth-round pick.
Player Comparison: Michael Clayton. Clayton occasionally loses focus and lacks the speed to be a playmaker in the NFL; both set the tone as run blockers.
I think Walter Football is giving the Jets the grade they deserve. While others are crying because we didn't take an o-lineman or Cb or QB, the Jets got at least 5 starters out of this draft (FS, SS, WR, WR, and TE, a special teams guy and situational pass rusher, a RB that fits the west Coast system as a pass catcher and occasional runner on draws and delays, and two project CB's. Decker, Gilchrist, J Marshall, Middleton, Ronts Miles, and Sheldon Richardson are gone. I can't wait to see what Hackenburg can do with the talent around him, I think the Jets will surprise some people this year!! J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS
