Follow me @walterfootball for updates.

  1. Brian De La Puente (RFA), C, Saints. Age: 28.
    Tendered by Saints (2nd round)

An undrafted free agent in 2008, Brian De La Puente has become one of the better centers in the NFL.

  2. Fernando Velasco, C, Titans. Age: 28.
    Tendered by Titans (2nd round)

Fernando Velasco seemingly came out of nowhere to be a very effective center for the Titans in 2012. He also played some left guard.

  3. Todd McClure, C, Falcons. Age: 36.
    Announced retirement

Todd McClure is still getting the job done despite being in his mid-30s, but he could completely drop off soon.

  4. Dan Koppen, C, Broncos. Age: 33.
Dan Koppen was released by the Patriots because he wasn't able to get on the field after suffering tons of injuries. He was healthy at the end of this season, however, and performed pretty well for Peyton Manning.

  5. Phil Costa (RFA), C, Cowboys. Age: 26.
    Re-signed with Cowboys (2 years)

Phil Costa is a serviceable starting center, but he's coming off foot surgery and may not be ready for the start of the season.

  6. Evan Dietrich-Smith, C/G, Packers. Age: 27.
    Tendered by Packers (original)

A capable lineman who's versatile enough to play all three positions on the interior. He was an upgrade over the decrepit Jeff Saturday.

  7. Rob Turner, C/G/OT, Rams. Age: 29.
    Signed with Titans

Rob Turner had a decent 2012 campaign for the Rams. He played center and guard, and he's capable of lining up at right tackle as well.

  8. Brad Meester, C, Jaguars. Age: 36. -- Re-signed with Jaguars (1 year)
  9. Kevin Matthews (RFA), C/G, Titans. Age: 26.
  10. Chris Spencer, C, Bears. Age: 31. -- Signed with Titans (1 year)
  11. Dylan Gandy, C, Lions. Age: 31. -- Re-signed with Lions (1 year)
  12. Mike Pollak, G/C, Panthers. Age: 28. -- Signed with Bengals
  13. Joe Berger, C, Vikings. Age: 31. -- Re-signed with Vikings (1 year)

2013 NFL Free Agent Positions:
QB | RB | FB | WR | TE | OT | G | C | DE | DT | OLB | ILB | CB | S | K/P | FA Grades | Winners/Losers

With the exception of QuotesChimp health insurance obtained through work, most people buy their insurance directly. But who sells it and under what circumstances? Let's take a look.

You might want to update the list to reflect that the Broncos re-signed Dan Koppen.

Costa really was imploding in the pre-season before he was injured. He was blowing snaps and his blocking has never been that great. I would have thought he was a 1.5 star. He may be re-signed, but he's probably going to get replaced this off-season.

Might interest Walter (and anyone else) to know that in 2010, with the Rams, Jason Brown had the 5th highest pass blocking efficiency amongst all NFL centers. That's playing in 672 pass blocking snaps (2nd most of those in the top 10 in PBE). He was towards the bottom of the league last year.

I'm pretty confident that Brown's downfall is closely related to the constantly changing line around him, poor play of his teammates and an utterly demoralized team atmosphere. His benching was said to be for "mental lapses" and penalties, both systematic of a team spiraling out of control and both changeable.

The team that lands him will probably be getting a great deal on a quality center who was brought down by a crumbling team

Chris Myers has been underrated for years. Before this season I began to doubt myself, I thought that I may be overrating him. Then he emerged in the national media and was recognized for his major contributions to the running. It isn't often when you watch Arian Foster play that you see him make a huge play "on his own", his big plays are usually a result of excellent run blocking.

Wells excels in all areas? He doesn't excel in any area. He just does it all fine.
