With the 2019 NFL Draft in the books, it is only fair to dish out some awards for a job well done by a number of teams across the NFL. It also doesn’t hurt to look at which teams may have made regrettable picks.

Best Value Pick Day 2: Carolina Panthers: Greg Little, OT, Ole Miss
This pick was a tough choice between the Jaguars landing right tackle Jawaan Taylor, the Panthers taking left tackle Greg Little, and the Buffalo Bills selecting right tackle Cody Ford. I ended up going with Little for a couple of reasons. One, he is a true left tackle with a first-round skill set, which is very hard to find. Two, Little is going to one of the best offensive line coaches in the NFL with Carolina’s John Matsko.
There are a lot of natural strengths to Little. He has ideal height, length, weight, quickness and athleticism. The 6-foot-5, 310-pounder has quick feet that allow him to get depth in his drop and neutralize speed rushers. Little should be an asset to take on the fast edge rushers because he can get off the corner and prevent them from running the loop around the edge. Via his quick feet and his ability to bend at the knee, Little doesn’t have to reach after rushers and is not a waist bender. With his size and strength, Little has the potential to handle power rushers while contributing as a run defender. He could be a very valuable for Carolina in protecting Cam Newton against fast edge rushers.
Little needs to become more consistent, but he has the skill set of a top-16 pick. Matsko has worked wonders with developing offensive linemen in the past, including some mid-round offensive linemen who Matsko turned into good pros for Carolina. That group includes Trai Turner, Daryl Williams, Andrew Norwell and Taylor Moton. I think Little could end up becoming a franchise left tackle under the direction of Matsko, and that would prove to be a massive value from the 2019 NFL Draft.
