2009 NFL Draft Pro Day Results

Pro Day Date: March 26, 2009

Ole Miss

Peria Jerry, DT, Ole Miss
Height: 6-2. Weight: 290.
Projected 40 Time: 4.94.
Combine 40 Time: DNP.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.98.
Benchx225: 28. Vertical: 31.
Projected Round (2009): 1-2.

1/10/09: Peria Jerry continued to overpower his opposition; he concluded his senior campaign with 18 TFL and seven sacks.

11/23/08: Peria Jerry has dominated the line of scrimmage this year. He has 39 tackles, 10.5 TFL and three sacks.

5/9/08: A 305-pound defensive tackle who runs a mid-4.9? Stop the presses!

Maurice Miller, G, Ole Miss
Height: 6-3. Weight: 325.
Projected 40 Time: 5.32.
Combine 40 Time: 5.46.
Pro Day 40 Time: 5.38.
Benchx225: 24. Arm: 34 1/4.
Projected Round (2009): 7-FA.

Michael Oher, OT, Ole Miss
Height: 6-5. Weight: 309.
Projected 40 Time: 5.19.
Combine 40 Time: 5.32.
Pro Day 40 Time: 5.16.
Benchx225: 23. Arm: 33 1/2.
Projected Round (2009): Top 6-16 Pick.

3/29/09: Michael Oher promised us a great 40 time, and he finally came through at his Pro Day, running a 5.16. It’s hard to imagine him falling into the bottom half of Round 1.

2/22/09: Michael Oher has slipped a bit, thanks to concerns about his intelligence and consistency in pass protection. I can’t see the Chargers passing on him if he falls to No. 16.

Jamarca Sanford, SS, Ole Miss
Height: 5-10. Weight: 209.
Projected 40 Time: 4.49.
Combine 40 Time: 4.54.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.43.
Benchx225: 29. Vertical: .
Projected Round (2009): 4-5.

3/29/09: Jamarca Sanford may have caught Al Davis’ eye with a 4.43 at his Pro Day.

12/14/08: Had 80 tackles and four TFL as a senior.

5/19/08: Jamarca Sanford should be able to catch on as a solid special teams player in the NFL.

Rutgers

Kenny Britt, WR, Rutgers Scouting Report
Height: 6-3. Weight: 210.
Projected 40 Time: 4.50.
Combine 40 Time: 4.48.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.47.
Vertical: 37. Broad: 10-4.
Projected Round (2009): 1-2.

2/23/09: Kenny Britt continues to have a strong combine. He ran a 4.48 at 6-3, 218. Pretty impressive. He could sneak into Round 1.

2/22/09: Not that the bench press means anything for recievers, but it’s worth noting that Kenny Britt put up 23 reps of 225.

10/19/08: Kenny Britt has 37 catches and 464 yards in six games, including a 12-reception, 151-yard performance at West Virginia.

7/26/08: If Kenny Britt runs a 4.4 at his size, he might become a lock to go in the first round. Britt had 62 receptions for 1,232 yards and eight touchdowns as a sophomore, earning a spot on the All-Big East second team. He won’t even be 21 when the 2009 NFL season kicks off.

Kevin Brock, TE, Rutgers
Height: 6-6. Weight: 255.
Projected 40 Time: 4.76.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.64.
Benchx225: 23. Vertical: 34.
Projected Round (2009): 6-7.

1/5/09: Kevin Brock finished his senior campaign with 26 receptions, 300 yards and two scores.

10/26/08: Inconsistent – Kevin Brock has caught at least four balls in three games, but has two or less receptions in his other contests.

Jason McCourty, CB, Rutgers
Height: 6-0. Weight: 193.
Projected 40 Time: 4.44.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.30.
Benchx225: 15. Vertical: 36.5.
Projected Round (2009): 4-5.

3/29/09: Jason McCourty just ran a 4.30 at Rutgers’ Pro Day. He also had a 36.5-inch vertical.

12/13/08: Jason McCourty had an excellent senior campaign for Rutgers. He had 59 tackles and six passes broken up.

Mike Teel, QB, Rutgers
Height: 6-3. Weight: 225.
Projected 40 Time: 4.83.
Pro Day 40 Time: 5.13.
Projected Round (2009): 5-6.

1/13/09: An awesome finish to his senior year has vaulted Mike Teel up these rankings. In his final three games, including the PizzaHut.com Bowl, Teel threw for 1,125 yards, 10 touchdowns and just one interception. He also completed 68.8 percent of his passes in that span.

Tiquan Underwood, WR, Rutgers
Height: 6-1. Weight: 178.
Projected 40 Time: 4.41.
Combine 40 Time: 4.41.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.36.
Vertical: 41.5. Broad: 10-9.
Projected Round (2009): 5.

1/4/09: Tiquan Underwood saved his best for last, catching nine passes for 139 yards and three touchdowns in the final two games of the year.

10/19/08: Tons of drops and lacking production (14 catches before the Connecticut game on Oct. 18) has dropped Tiquan Underwood’s stock. His 40 will still intrigue some teams. 5/22/08: Tiquan Underwood had six games of more than 100 receiving yards, totaling 1,100 and seven touchdowns for the entire year.

Jamaal Westerman, DE, Rutgers
Height: 6-2. Weight: 257.
Projected 40 Time: 4.72.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.78.
Benchx225: 20. Vertical: .
Projected Round (2009): 7-FA.

1/9/09: Jamaal Westerman tore his bicep in December. Pretty bad timing.

11/16/08: Jamaal Westerman has 10 TFL, six sacks and a blocked kick this year.

2007: Jamaal Westerman, who made some noise as a sophomore (eight sacks), has decent speed considering his 256-pound frame.

Southern Miss

Ryan McKee, OT, Southern Miss
Height: 6-6. Weight: 296.
Projected 40 Time: 4.94.
Combine 40 Time: DNP.
Pro Day 40 Time: 5.03.
Benchx225: DNP. Arm: 33 1/2.
Projected Round (2009): FA.

Gerald McRath, LB, Southern Miss
Height: 6-2. Weight: 228.
Projected 40 Time: 4.56.
Combine 40 Time: 4.61.
Pro Day 40 Time: DNP.
Benchx225: 21. Vertical: .
Projected Round (2009): 2-3.

2/22/09: Gerald McRath put on a much-needed 11 pounds, weighing in at 231.

1/5/08: Gerald McRath is probably the top weakside linebacker in this draft – only he’s not a weakside linebacker. Confused? McRath plays middle linebacker at Southern Miss, but he’s way too small to play that position in the NFL. Thus, he’ll have to learn a new position, bulk up a bit and run a fast 40 at the Combine. That’s a lot to ask. McRath may have been better served trying to fill out in his senior year, but if he takes care of business, he has nothing to worry about.

5/16/08: If he declares early, Gerald McRath will be the top-rated weakside linebacker in this class. McRath, the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore, notched 139 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks and three passes broken up.

Rice

James Casey, TE, Rice
Height: 6-4. Weight: 243.
Projected 40 Time: 4.66.
Combine 40 Time: 4.78.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.79.
Benchx225: 28. Vertical: 36.
Projected Round (2009): 3-4.

2/22/09: James Casey had the second-best vertical for tight ends at the 2009 NFL Combine with 36 inches. His 40 was slower than expected, however.

2/21/09: James Casey tied Travis Beckum for most bench press reps at the 2009 NFL Combine with 28.

1/5/09: It appears as though Casey, 24, will declare as a true sophomore. He finished the 2008 campaign with 111 receptions, 1,329 yards and 13 touchdowns.

10/26/08: James Casey is having a great sophomore year. He has 67 catches, 803 yards and six touchdowns through just eight games. Because of his age, Casey must declare ASAP despite being just a true sophomore.

7/27/08: Let’s see… James Casey had 46 catches for 585 yards and four touchdowns as a freshman despite not registering a single reception until Week 4. He runs a solid 40. So, why is he so low on this list? Well, he turns 25 in September 2009, so there’s not much more room for growth.

Jarett Dillard, WR, Rice
Height: 5-11. Weight: 187.
Projected 40 Time: 4.51.
Combine 40 Time: 4.53.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.50.
Vertical: 42.5. Broad: 10-11.
Projected Round (2009): 5-6.

1/4/09: As expected, Jarett Dillard posted incredible numbers this year – 79 receptions, 1,224 yards and a whopping 19 touchdowns.

10/19/08: Jarrett Dillard has at least seven receptions in every game this year. Pretty amazing. His size and lacking 40 time kills his stock.

5/22/08: A lot like DeSean Jackson without the blinding speed. How is Jarett Dillard going to get off the line of scrimmage at the next level? That has to be a concern despite his 79 receptions, 1,057 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2007.

2007: I don’t care whom you play against – production is production. Jarett Dillard caught 91 passes for 1,247 yards and 21 touchdowns in 2006.

Marshall

Darius Passmore, WR, Marshall
Height: 6-1. Weight: 189.
Projected 40 Time: 4.48.
Combine 40 Time: 4.51.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.46.
Vertical: . Broad: 9-3.
Projected Round (2009): 6-7.

2/21/09: I had Darius Passmore at 6-3, 190. The Combine has him at 6-0, 188. Looks like someone was wearing high heels at Marshall weigh-ins…

1/4/09: A mid-Day 2 prospect if he keeps his 40 to a high 4.4 or low 4.5, Darius Passmore notched 56 receptions, 945 yards and seven touchdowns as a senior.

10/19/08: Darius Passmore opened some eyes this year with a 7-catch, 95-yard outing at Wisconsin. He has improved, and even registered 165 yards at UAB on Oct. 18.

San Diego State

Russell Allen, OLB, San Diego State
Height: 6-3. Weight: 230.
Projected 40 Time: 4.69.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.63.
Benchx225: 24. Vertical: 33.5.
Projected Round (2009): 7-FA.

12/6/08: Russell Allen earned an All-Mountain West honorable mention thanks to 107 tackles and 9.5 TFL.

5/11/08: If it seemed like Russell Allen was in on every San Diego State tackle last year, that’s probably because he was. He even had 22 tackles in game. Poor Utah Utes.

2007: As a sophomore, Russell Allen was San Diego State’s leading tackler with 88.

Lance Louis, OT, San Diego State
Height: 6-3. Weight: 303.
Projected 40 Time: 5.05.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.76.
Benchx225: 30. Arm: .
Projected Round (2009): 6-7.

3/29/09: I know 40 times mean nothing for offensive linemen, but a 4.76 for a 300-pound guy is really impressive.
