Fantasy Football Start Em, Sit Em

2016 Fantasy Football: Start Em, Sit Em: Week 2

Rather than quickly listing start em and sit em players on my Week 2 NFL Picks page, I thought I'd devote a new page for this. Follow @walterfootball for updates.

Houston Texans (0-1) at Cincinnati Bengals (0-1)

Start Em:
  • Obvious Starts:
HOU: WR DeAndre Hopkins, Texans Defense.
CIN: WR A.J. Green, TE Tyler Eifert, Bengals Defense.

    Sit Em:
  • Bengals Running Backs
A three-headed platoon behind a poor offensive line is not something I'd like to be involved in.

Tennessee Titans (0-1) at Jacksonville Jaguars (1-0)

    Start Em:
  • Corey Davis, WR, Titans
I'd try Corey Davis this week. He saw 10 targets in the season opener.

  • Obvious Starts:
TEN: RB DeMarco Murray, TE Delanie Walker.
    JAX: RB Leonard Fournette.

    Sit Em:
  • Eric Decker, WR, Titans
Eric Decker isn't a big part of this offense yet.

  • Blake Bortles, QB, Jaguars
This should be a low-scoring game, meaning Blake Bortles won't have opportunities for garbage-time fantasy points.

Cleveland Browns (0-1) at Baltimore Ravens (1-0)

    Start Em:
  • Corey Coleman, WR, Browns
The Browns could generate some garbage-time fantasy points in this game, so Corey Coleman's stats could be bloated.

  • Obvious Starts:
    CLE: RB Isaiah Crowell.
    BAL: Ravens Defense.

    Sit Em:
  • Ravens Passing Offense
Joe Flacco can't seem to get the ball downfield at the moment, so any long passes will be fluky.

Buffalo Bills (1-0) at Carolina Panthers (0-1)

    Start Em:
  • Obvious Starts:
BUF: RB LeSean McCoy, Bills Defense.
CAR: RB Christian McCaffrey (PPR), TE Greg Olsen, Panthers Defense.

    Sit Em:
  • Cam Newton, QB, Panthers
Cam Newton doesn't look completely healthy yet, as his accuracy is way off.

New England Patriots (0-1) at New Orleans Saints (0-1)

    Start Em:
  • Mike Gillislee, RB, Patriots
I don't want to make assumptions about New England's rushing attack, but it seems as though Mike Gillislee will serve as the goal-line back.

  • Danny Amendola, WR, Patriots (if he plays)
If Danny Amendola clears concussion protocol, he should reprise his role as Julian Edelman's replacement.

  • Obvious Starts:
NE: QB Tom Brady, WR Brandin Cooks, TE Rob Gronkowski.
NO: QB Drew Brees, WR Michael Thomas.

    Sit Em:
  • Saints Running Backs
The Saints are using a three-headed platoon, so there aren't many fantasy opportunities here.

Arizona Cardinals (0-1) at Indianapolis Colts (0-1)

    Start Em:
  • Carson Palmer, QB, Cardinals
Carson Palmer has a great matchup versus a truly awful Indianapolis defense that just surrendered 300 yards to Jared Goff.

  • Kerwynn Williams, RB, Cardinals
Kerwynn Williams won't be recommended as a start often, but the Colts have such a bad defense.

  • Obvious Starts:
ARZ: WR Larry Fitzgerald, Cardinals Defense.
    IND: None.

    Sit Em:
  • John Brown, WR, Cardinals
John Brown has been ruled out.

  • Frank Gore, RB, Colts
It'll be difficult for Frank Gore to run against the Cardinals' stout front.

Philadelphia Eagles (1-0) at Kansas City Chiefs (1-0)

    Start Em:
  • Carson Wentz, QB, Eagles
I like Carson Wentz a lot this year, and he's getting a defense missing a its star safety.

  • Alshon Jeffery, WR, Eagles
Alshon Jeffery had to deal with Josh Norman last week. The Chiefs have Marcus Peters, but he doesn't shadow opposing No. 1 wideouts.

  • Obvious Starts:
PHI: TE Zach Ertz, Eagles Defense.
KC: RB Kareem Hunt, WR Tyreek Hill, TE Travis Kelce.

    Sit Em:
  • LeGarrette Blount, RB, Eagles
LeGarrette Blount might get a touchdown, but that's what you'd be banking on; the Eagles haven't been impressed with him thus far.

Minnesota Vikings (1-0) at Pittsburgh Steelers (1-0)

    Start Em:
  • Obvious Starts:
    MIN: RB Dalvin Cook.
PIT: QB Ben Roethlisberger, RB Le'Veon Bell, WR Antonio Brown, Steelers Defense.

    Sit Em:
  • Vikings Passing Offense
Stefon Diggs might still be OK, but I'd rather sit all of the Vikings with Sam Bradford out.

Chicago Bears (0-1) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-0)

    Start Em:
  • Tarik Cohen, RB, Bears
If you picked up Tarik Cohen, feel free to use him, especially in PPR leagues. He seems to be the next Darren Sproles, and Chicago is going to give him lots of touches.

  • Jameis Winston, QB, Buccaneers
Jameis Winston seems like he has a nice matchup against a poor Chicago secondary.

  • Obvious Starts:
    CHI: RB Jordan Howard.
    TB: WR Mike Evans.

    Sit Em:
  • Jacquizz Rodgers, RB, Buccaneers
The Bears' rush defense just shut down Devonta Freeman, so Jacquizz Rodgers' matchup doesn't look great.

Miami Dolphins (0-0) at Los Angeles Chargers (0-1)

    Start Em:
  • Philip Rivers, QB, Chargers
Philip Rivers almost has to be considered an obvious start each week while most of his supporting cast is healthy.

  • Chargers Tight Ends
The Dolphins have a weak linebacking corps, so I could see both Charger tight ends performing well.

  • Obvious Starts:
MIA: RB Jay Ajayi, WR DeVante Parker.
LAC: RB Melvin Gordon, WR Keenan Allen, Chargers Defense.

    Sit Em:
  • No one of note

New York Jets (0-1) at Oakland Raiders (1-0)

    Start Em:
  • Obvious Starts:
    NYJ: None.
OAK: QB Derek Carr, RB Marshawn Lynch, WR Amari Cooper, WR Michael Crabtree, Raiders Defense.

    Sit Em:
  • Jets Offense
With Bilal Powell and Matt Forte inexplicably splitting touches, there's no one worth starting on the Jets.

Washington Redskins (0-1) at Los Angeles Rams (1-0)

    Start Em:
  • Cooper Kupp, WR, Rams
Cooper Kupp is worth starting, as Jared Goff loved throwing to him in the preseason. Kupp had a strong debut.

  • Obvious Starts:
    WAS: TE Jordan Reed.
LAR: RB Todd Gurley, Rams Defense.

    Sit Em:
  • Robert Kelley, RB, Redskins
The Redskins aren't blocking well for Robert Kelley, who will be going up against a stout front.

  • Terrelle Pryor, WR, Redskins
Kirk Cousins and Terrelle Pryor don't appear to be on the same page just yet.

Check out Weekly NFL Fantasy Football Rankings for more analysis

Dallas Cowboys (1-0) at Denver Broncos (1-0)

    Start Em:
  • Jason Witten, TE, Cowboys
Jason Witten is 35, but he'll look like a 25-year-old against the Broncos' linebackers.

  • Obvious Starts:
DAL: QB Dak Prescott, RB Ezekiel Elliott, WR Dez Bryant.
    DEN: RB C.J. Anderson.

    Sit Em:
  • Terrance Williams, WR, Cowboys
I'm listing Terrance Williams because he was Dallas' leading receiver in the season opener. That was a fluke, and he has a very difficult matchup this week.

San Francisco 49ers (0-1) at Seattle Seahawks (1-0)

    Start Em:
  • Obvious Starts:
    SF: RB Carlos Hyde.
SEA: QB Russell Wilson, WR Doug Baldwin, TE Jimmy Graham, Seahawks Defense.

    Sit Em:
  • Seahawks Running Backs
It's unclear what the Seahawks plan on doing when Thomas Rawls returns, and it's not known how healthy he is right now.

Check out Weekly NFL Fantasy Football Rankings for more analysis

Green Bay Packers (1-0) at Atlanta Falcons (0-1)

    Start Em:
  • Randall Cobb, WR, Packers
Randall Cobb looks healthy for the first time in a long while, so he can be started until further notice.

  • Obvious Starts:
GB: QB Aaron Rodgers, RB Ty Montgomery (PPR), WR Jordy Nelson, WR Davante Adams, TE Martellus Bennett.
ATL: QB Matt Ryan, RB Devonta Freeman, WR Julio Jones.

    Sit Em:
  • No one of note

Detroit Lions (1-0) at New York Giants (0-1)

    Start Em:
  • Evan Engram, TE, Giants
Evan Engram is worth a shot this week versus Detroit's shaky linebacking corps.

  • Obvious Starts:
    DET: RB Ameer Abdullah.
NYG: WR Odell Beckham Jr. (if he plays), Giants Defense.

    Sit Em:
  • Lions Receivers
Golden Tate is fine in PPR, but I'd avoid the Detroit receivers otherwise because of New York's terrific secondary.

  • Paul Perkins, RB, Giants
The Giants can't block for Paul Perkins at all.
