NFL Draft Mailbag Notes: These are not actually e-mails. They are comments left on the comment board in my 2011 NFL Mock Draft. I've included some of these comments and my responses to them.

2011 NFL Draft E-mails - Crackhead Mail

  • From Ark:

heres the top ten Top ten 2011 1 Carolina - Dareous 2 Denver - Petersen 3 Buffalo

    --> I think I speak for everyone when I say that's one hell of a top 10.

  • From Tbone:

top ten mistakes in your draft 1 chris culiver at 198 how about gone at 94 2 denarius moore at 194 how about gone at 159 3 chimdi chekwa at 162 how about gone at 74 4 shareece wright at 146 how about gone at 94 5 joe lefeged at 142 how about gone at 124 6 niles paul at 131 how about gone at 94 7 kenrick ellis at 126 how about gone at 74 8 dontay moch at 96 how about gone at 74 9 demarco murray at 96 how about gone at 74 10 ras i dowling at 81 how about gone at 60

--> You have four players "gone at 74" - Chimdi Chekwa, Kenrick Ellis, Dontay Moch and DeMarco Murray. Naturally, the Patriots are drafting at No. 74, so Bill Belichick must be using one hell of a camcorder to get all of those guys on his team.

  • From 1788:

Dude your round 6 sucks!!!! Same for your OG rankings. UNLV guard Matt Murphy had an awesome pro day!! Do some research!!!!!!!

--> Well, at least my Rounds 1-5 don't suck.

And who the hell is Matt Murphy? I took your advice and did some research. CBS ranks Murphy as the 630th best player in this class. ESPN doesn't rank him at all. So there you go. I did some research!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • From SheepHearder:

Baaaaaaaa. Keep on following Walt! And by that I mean keep up the good work of your cut-n-paste mocks! Isn't it nice to have a subscription to "IN" on Makes your "job" a whole lot easier, huh?!

--> What the hell is a "sheep hearder?" And for someone who makes fun of ESPN constantly, I'm very disgruntled that someone thinks I "cut-n-paste" from their site.

  • From John:

the charges are going to draft julio jones.there not going for wilkerson.wilkerson will come in the second round.thats my opinion.

--> What? How the hell are the "Charges" going to get Julio Jones? And saying "Wilkerson will come in the second round" sounds kinda dirty.

  • From Nunua:

what are u talking about with the jags?

--> Weh? What are you talking about about talking about with the Jags? Ouch, I just made my head hurt.

  • From TT:

Could you possibly hate on the Titans any more than you do in this mock draft? Each of the first three picks, you mention something about how they don't care about character, if anybody will take this guy the Titans will, they don't care about the major red flags, etc. I just think you're being ignorant in acting like the Titans are the only team that has taken risks on players in the past. At the end of the day, talent trumps character the majority of the time. This strategy backfires sometimes, (see Talib from the Bucs getting arrested this week. Why no Buc hate?) but to act like Tennessee is the only team that is ever willing to take these risks is beyond narrow minded.

--> Umm... here are some write-ups from my Bucs picks:

"One team that will ignore Clayborn's character concerns is Tampa Bay."

"Jabaal Sheard is a late first-round talent, but will probably fall into the middle of Round 2 because of a previous arrest. The Buccaneers, however, have a tendency of looking past these things."

As our good friend 1788 would say, "Do some research!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Walt, what do you think would be the perfect draft for the Browns?I would say they could somehow get AJ Green in the first, and maybe a Cameron Heyward in the 2nd,then they could also maybe pick up Chimdi Chekwa and in the later rounds get another QB to help develop.Holmgren does like to draft a QB every year. What do you think?

I'm a Boise State fan, and while I can say that Kellen Moore is a legit 6 foot (actually stood by him on the blue field after a game) and is extremely intelligent and accurate, he has a noodle arm, pitiful size, and may very well be the least athletic QB I know of currently in D-1. Put Moore's head in Mallett's body and you have Peyton Manning Jr. But as it is, both would epically bust if drafted high in the NFL.

I like Ryan Mallett as like a friend but not a quarterback. Maybe he's just goofy. There have been other jerks that have succeeded in the league I'm sure.

Love how people just ramble when half of you don't watch college football. You read info on the Internet than come here spitting it back out. Firtst Walt is dead on with mallet and his character issues. It doesn't have toe legal issues you morons, his work ethic and leadership are in question. And it isn't illegal to post once convicted offences on the Internet used to like mallet guy you idiot. Walt if I were you I would remove the message board your only getting dumber by having these half wits give you their two sense. Even if it is amusing to read about kellen moore the 5ft 10 qb with a noodle arm being a "real" franchise qb.

I really wonder about who this Aaron guy is. I am a student at Indiana University so I saw Chappell play live a lot and if any NFL team drafts him it will be one of the worst picks in Draft history...Most of our linemen were more athletic than him

Doss's grade is just fine he will be a solid slot receiver but nothing more because he lacks any sort of top end speed.

Who's Walter? The guy....who created this site.......? Are you serious with that question.

Nobody gets every draft prediciton right. Mel Kiper blew it on Mike Williams (although Williams finally shed some lbs and had a nice year this year), Sun Tan Man blows it (that's what she said) several times a year, and I'll never forget that dude on ESPN in 1983 predicting Dan Marino would be a complete bust in Miami right after the Dolphins took him.

Hell, several "experts" said Barry Sanders and Emmitt Smith were too small to play every down in the NFL before & after they were drafted.

Everybody needs to calm down. It's just predicting based on the info available. That's why Walter changes his mock continually. He's going with the most current info available.

Jimmy Di Dago: Shhhhhh...Keep the buzz about Cam Jordan on the I have the Skins @ 10 in my message board's annual mock draft, and I'm hoping he slips to me.

Im surprised that you didn't catch the Vikingsfan's comment how he spelled retarDed and quaRterback wrong. Haha. And Ian, Colin Kaepernick is going to be higher on mock drafts soon. He was actually the only impressive quarterback at the Senior Bowl, and I'm thinking he's going to do great at the Combine.

What's it going to take to get people to believe Cam Jordan may be the best OVERALL D-Line candidate in this draft. Personally got him mocked at my beloved Cleveland's sixth.
What the hell ever happened to Travis Lewis? Cleveland could for sure use him.

I'm sorry all you Arkansas fans. I too was once a fan of Ryan Mallett, as I saw that he could become a great NFL quarterback. Unfortunately, games like the Arkansas-Alabama game (which, if you guys have conveniently forgotten, was the game in which Ryan Mallett threw three picks, one of which he couldn't even throw out of bounds to merely take the incompletion) or the Ohio State game (insert various RM mistake here) have disinterested me. He has also had a horrid time in the combines and trainings he has undertaken during his off-season. I'm sorry, but Walter is correct in his analysis. Not only does he have "character" issues (which are, for legal purposes, not allowed to be posted), but he is a horrible clutch quarterback (my pardon for taking this title from Greg McElroy) and a terrible runner. If Kellen Moore had applied for the draft, people might see what a real potential franchise quarterback looks like.

For those of you who don't know, it is alleged that ryan mallett has or had a substance abuse problem and that is why he has fallen to later rounds. They can't really say that, all they can say is hehas "character" issues... im a huge hog fan but I think they are right, mallett is gonna need a few years as a backup and may never be a great qb in the nfl and then again he may be the next big ben... point is he is a risk but I don't see a qb this year that isn't a risk, you have no sure things in the qb department this year

He may not be the fastest QB he isn't the slowest. Look at Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. They arn't really fast but look at them!! Hall of fame.
