  1. Michael Crabtree, Texas Tech
    Height: 6-1. Weight: 215.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.49.
    Combine 40 Time: DNP.
    Vertical: DNP. Broad: DNP.
Projected Round (2009): Top 5 Pick.

2/21/09: Michael Crabtree measured in at 6-1 1/4 and 215 pounds. He was listed as 6-3 at Texas Tech. This, along with his inability to perform at the Combine, may lower the chances of the Rams taking him No. 2 overall.

1/6/09: Michael Crabtree has told reporters and coaches that he’s declaring for the 2009 NFL Draft. This has always been a no-brainer; I don’t think Crabtree has ever left the top eight selections in my 2009 NFL Mock Draft

1/4/09: So, is Michael Crabtree coming out? “I’m just going to make my decision after the bowl game,” Crabtree said. “It will be easier for everybody. I know, but I’m not ready to say.”

If Crabtree goes, he’s pretty much a top-five lock. Crabtree had 93 catches, 1,135 yards and 18 touchdowns in 2008.

10/19/08: Michael Crabtree won’t match last year’s numbers – he’s currently on pace for 1,306 yards and 20 touchdowns – but Texas Tech has been ahead so much this season, they’ve been throwing a lot less.

5/22/08: Doubters will say Michael Crabtree is a product of the system. So, what they’re telling us is that if Randy Moss and Larry Fitzgerald played for Hawaii or Texas Tech, they wouldn’t be first-round prospects? What Crabtree did as a redshirt freshman last year was downright disgusting. Try 134 receptions, 1,962 yards and 22 touchdowns. He had one of his biggest games against Oklahoma, catching 12 balls for 154 yards and a score.

2007: I know stats don’t really mean anything in Texas Tech’s offense, but Michael Crabtree just seems special. In the first seven contests of his collegiate career, Crabtree has 78 receptions, 1,244 yards and 17 touchdowns. What really impresses me is his combination of size and speed. That 40 time may even be faster now, as it is a bit old.

  2. Jeremy Maclin, Missouri Scouting Report
    Height: 6-0. Weight: 198.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.33.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.45.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 4.43.
    Vertical: 35.5. Broad: 10-0.
    Projected Round (2009): 1-2.

2/23/09: Any mock drafter who had Jeremy Maclin at No. 7: Time for an update. Maclin ran just a 4.45. Per Al Davis, Maclin is no longer a great player.

1/10/09: No surprise that Jeremy Maclin has declared for the 2009 NFL Draft. He and Michael Crabtree are the only first-round locks in this receiving class.

1/4/09: Jeremy Maclin had an outstanding sophomore campaign, catching 95 balls for 1,221 yards and 12 touchdowns. Maclin also returned a kickoff for a score.

10/19/08: After a slow start, Jeremy Maclin registered 100-yard outputs against Nevada, Buffalo and Oklahoma State.

5/22/08: If Jeremy Maclin can run a 4.29, you better believe he’ll be off the board by the pick No. 15. He has a chance to do it, though if I had to bet, I’d say low 4.3.

2007: Jeremy Maclin set the NCAA freshman record for all-purpose yardage. A dynamic return specialist, Maclin also had 1,055 receiving yards, 375 rushing yards and 13 total touchdowns in 2007. He’ll be a red-shirt sophomore in 2008, so he’ll be eligible for the 2009 Draft.

  3. Darrius Heyward-Bey, Maryland
    Height: 6-2. Weight: 210.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.33.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.30.
    Vertical: 38.5. Broad: 10-6.
Projected Round (2009): Top 7-40 Pick.

2/23/09: Darrius Heyward-Bey is a great player. Well, at least in Al Davis’ eyes. DHB won’t make it past Oakland in Round 2, thanks to a 4.30 40.

1/8/09: As expected, Darrius Heyward-Bey has declared for the 2009 NFL Draft. If he runs a low 4.3, he could be taken in the first round.

1/4/09: Darrius Heyward-Bey had just 38 receptions, 553 yards and five touchdowns in 2008. His supporting cast was pretty pedestrian, so don’t judge him on those numbers.

10/19/08: Despite catching just 12 balls entering the Wake Forest game, Darrius Heyward-Bey dominated the Deacons, catching 11 balls for 101 yards and a touchdown.

5/22/08: Darrius Heyward-Bey was inconsistent in 2007. Then again, any receiver would have been with the garbage Maryland had at quarterback (Chris Turner and Jordan Steffy combined for nine touchdowns and 11 picks). Heyward-Bey has a pretty sick 40 at his size. He has a shot to run a high 4.2.

2007: As a freshman, Darrius Heyward-Bey led the team in receptions (45) and receiving yards (694). All of his production came toward the end of the season. Named to the preseason first-team All-ACC. Still has a lot of room to grow – it’s almost scary how good this guy can become.

  4. Kenny Britt, Rutgers Scouting Report
    Height: 6-3. Weight: 210.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.50.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.48.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 4.47.
    Vertical: 37. Broad: 10-4.
    Projected Round (2009): 1-2.

2/23/09: Kenny Britt continues to have a strong combine. He ran a 4.48 at 6-3, 218. Pretty impressive. He could sneak into Round 1.

2/22/09: Not that the bench press means anything for recievers, but it’s worth noting that Kenny Britt put up 23 reps of 225.

10/19/08: Kenny Britt has 37 catches and 464 yards in six games, including a 12-reception, 151-yard performance at West Virginia.

7/26/08: If Kenny Britt runs a 4.4 at his size, he might become a lock to go in the first round. Britt had 62 receptions for 1,232 yards and eight touchdowns as a sophomore, earning a spot on the All-Big East second team. He won’t even be 21 when the 2009 NFL season kicks off.

  5. Hakeem Nicks, WR, North Carolina
    Height: 6-1. Weight: 226.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.51.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.49.
    Pro Day 40 Time: DNP.
    Vertical: . Broad: .
    Projected Round (2009): 2.

3/27/09: Hakeem Nicks put on 14 pounds since the Combine and refused to run the 40 at his Pro Day, which raises some work ethic issues. He’s still a very probable second-round prospect.

2/23/09: Hakeem Nicks really helped himself with a nice combine. It’s looking more probable that he’ll be a first-round pick.

1/4/09: No receiving prospect is hotter than Hakeem Nicks right now. As a junior, Nicks recorded 68 receptions, 1,222 yards and 12 touchdowns. Nicks dominated West Virginia in the team’s winter practice game, grabbing eight balls for a whopping 217 yards and three scores.

10/19/08: Hakeem Nicks has been a beast this year. Through seven games, Nicks has 39 catches, 643 yards and four touchdowns. His 40 is going to hurt him.

  6. Brian Robiskie, Ohio State Scouting Report
    Height: 6-3. Weight: 209.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.48.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.49.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 4.52.
    Vertical: 37.5. Broad: .
    Projected Round (2009): 2.

1/4/09: Brian Robiskie’s numbers faded with a rookie quarterback under center. He finished with 37 receptions, 419 yards and eight scores.

10/19/08: The Terrell Pryor-to-Brian Robiskie connection looked promising at first, but Robiskie has registered two catches in each of the past three games against Wisconsin, Purdue and Michigan State. He hasn’t gone over the 20-yard mark since Sept. 27.

5/22/08: Brian Robiskie had great production last year – 55 receptions, 935 yards, 11 touchdowns – but his mediocre 40 could keep him out of the first round.

  7. Juaquin Iglesias, Oklahoma
    Height: 6-1. Weight: 210.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.45.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.51.
    Vertical: . Broad: .
    Projected Round (2009): 2-3.

1/4/09: A dynamic receiver for Sam Bradford, Juaquin Iglesias recorded 69 receptions, 1,092 yards and 10 touchdowns.

10/19/08: This guy just keeps getting better. Juaquin Iglesias broke out against Kansas, catching 12 balls for 191 yards.

5/22/08: Despite Malcolm Kelly’s presence on the team, Juaquin Iglesias led the Sooners with 68 receptions, 907 yards and five touchdowns.

  8. Derrick Williams, Penn State Scouting Report
    Height: 6-0. Weight: 194.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.39.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.58.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 4.37.
    Vertical: . Broad: 9-7.
    Projected Round (2009): 2-3.

3/22/09: Derrick Williams saved his draft stock with an impressive Pro Day. He beat my projected 40 by 0.02.

2/23/09: Derrick Williams really hurt his draft stock with a 4.58 in the 40. Williams is a speed receiver who was projected to run a 4.3.

1/4/09: Limited in Penn State’s spread offense, Derrick Williams managed 40 receptions, 451 yards and three touchdowns. He also had three rushing scores and a three returns for six (one punt, two kickoffs).

10/19/08: Through eight games, Derrick Williams has played in only three games where he registered more than two receptions. Still, he’s a dynamic option on the field who can be used on end-arounds and kick returns.

5/22/08: Derrick Williams has never been able to put up great numbers at Penn State because he was paired with zero-IQ quarterback Anthony Morelli (55 receptions, 529 yards). Still, he’s a talented receiver and kick returner with a great 40.

2007: Derrick Williams’ production was a bit lower than what it should have been in 2006 because junior quarterback Anthony Morelli struggled to find a groove until late in the year. Williams, who caught 40 passes for 440 yards and touchdown, had his best performance against Michigan (six receptions, 67 yards), so you know he steps his game up when it matters most. If Morelli keeps improving, Williams could have a breakout year in 2007. Williams also doubles as an effective kick returner.

  9. Percy Harvin, Florida Scouting Report
    Height: 6-0. Weight: 193.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.32.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.41.
    Vertical: 37.5. Broad: 10-1.
    Projected Round (2009): 2-3.

1/4/09: Used in a variety of ways on offense, Percy Harvin has totaled 1,133 combined rushing and receiving yards and 16 touchdowns.

10/19/08: Percy Harvin has been beat up this year – which isn’t surprising, considering his small frame – but he’s still putting up solid numbers. In five games, Harvin has 25 catches, 396 yards and seven total touchdowns. Harvin also has 190 rushing yards.

5/22/08: Percy Harvin didn’t have imposing numbers as a receiver (764 yards, 10 touchdowns), but he also had 858 rushing yards. Harvin won’t even be 21 by the time the 2009 NFL Draft rolls around, so some teams will find that appealing. However, Harvin will have to run a fast 40, especially at his size, if he wants to beat out Jeremy Maclin and Darrius Heyward-Bey to be second on this list.

  10. Louis Murphy, Florida
    Height: 6-3. Weight: 207.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.33.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.43.
    Vertical: . Broad: .
    Projected Round (2009): 2-3.

1/4/09: Louis Murphy’s numbers will always be limited in Florida’s offense – 36 catches, 611 yards, six touchdowns – but his size, 40 and combine numbers will definitely get him noticed. Murphy will be on Al Davis’ radar in Round 2.

5/22/08: Louis Murphy had his first productive year as a Gator last year, collecting 37 receptions, 548 yards and five scores. Those aren’t monstrous numbers, so why is he ranked so high? Check out his size and 40 time. Some teams (cough, Raiders and Lions, sneeze) will consider him in Round 2.

  11. Pat White, West Virginia
    Height: 6-0. Weight: 197.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.43.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.49.
    Hand Size: 9 1/4. Vertical: 35.
    Projected Round (2009): 2-3.

Also listed in the quarterback section.

2/23/09: Pat White showed off his arm strength and looked better than the other quarterbacks in the drills. Mike Mayock believes White will be drafted in the second round.

5/22/08: Looking to become the next Antwaan Randle El (pre-Washington), Pat White will have to play receiver and kick returner at the next level. He has the athleticism to make the transition, but does he have the skill set?

2007: What to do with Pat White? Does he play running back at the next level? Receiver? Quarterback? Probably not the latter. Considering he rushed for 1,219 yards and 18 touchdowns, and gained 7.4 yards per carry, White will probably be placed in the backfield. His small frame concerns me, so what White needs to do after graduating is put on about 15 pounds of muscle.

  12. Ramses Barden, Cal Poly-SLO
    Height: 6-6. Weight: 227.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.55.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.57.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 4.51.
    Vertical: . Broad: 10-2.
    Projected Round (2009): 3-4.

3/22/09: Ramses Barden worked out extremely well at his Pro Day, running an unofficial 4.4. He improved his stock after a mediocre Combine. 1/4/09: Thanks to his impressive side, Ramses Barden had 67 receptions, 1,257 yards and 18 touchdowns as a senior.

10/19/08: The only Mustang of note, Ramses Barden has at least 131 yards and a touchdown in every game this season.

5/22/08: And I thought a 42-catch, 824-yard campaign was impressive. Ramses Barden smashed his 2006 numbers, collecting 57 receptions, 1,467 yards and 18 touchdowns last year. I don’t care where you play – that’s downright impressive.

  13. Mike Wallace, Ole Miss
    Height: 6-0. Weight: 199.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.35.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.33.
    Vertical: 40. Broad: 10-9.
    Projected Round (2009): 4.

1/4/09: Mike Wallace finished strong, catching 13 balls for 284 yards and five touchdowns in the final three games of the 2008 season. He had 39 receptions, 784 yards and seven scores on the year. Wallace also took a kickoff back to the house.

10/19/08: A disappointment this year, Mike Wallace has only 18 catches in seven games. His 40 may get him drafted.

5/22/08: Mike Wallace came on in 2007, notching 38 passes, 716 yards and six touchdowns. He’s also an effective kick returner. You have to love his 40 – especially if you’re a 250-year-old owner of an NFL team on the West Coast.

  14. Brandon Gibson, Washington State
    Height: 6-0. Weight: 206.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.47.
    Combine 40 Time: DNP.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 4.58.
    Vertical: 34. Broad: 9-5.
    Projected Round (2009): 4-5.

1/4/09: One of the very few shining lights in Washington State’s dead program, Brandon Gibson compiled 57 catches, 673 yards and two touchdowns in 2008.

10/19/08: You can’t blame Brandon Gibson for the disaster in Pullman this year. Gibson had 10 catches and 103 yards against Oregon on Sept. 27, but hasn’t done much since.

5/22/08: Despite missing one game last year, Brandon Gibson had 67 receptions, 1,180 yards and nine touchdowns as a junior. He’ll only be 21 when the 2009 NFL Draft rolls around, so that’s definitely a plus.

  15. Mike Thomas, Arizona
    Height: 5-8. Weight: 195.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.45.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.40.
    Pro Day 40 Time: DNP.
    Vertical: 40.5. Broad: 10-6.
    Projected Round (2009): 4-5.

1/4/09: Mike Thomas had 75 receptions, 834 yards and four touchdowns as a senior. More importantly for his stock, he had two punt returns for scores.

10/19/08: After a solid start, Mike Thomas’ production has dropped in Pac-10 play.

5/22/08: If it weren’t for Mike Thomas’ height… Thomas, a kick returner with a solid 40, caught 83 passes for 1,038 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2007. His 5-9 frame hurts his draft stock.

  16. Kevin Ogletree, Virginia
    Height: 6-1. Weight: 196.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.47.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.45.
    Vertical: . Broad: 10-2.
    Projected Round (2009): 4-5.

2/23/09: Really helped himself with a great combine. He clocked an unofficial 4.37. Too bad the guy in charge of the official times was on LSD.

1/8/09: Not really sure why Kevin Ogletree is declaring early when he’s a late-round prospect at best, but hey, all the luck to him.

  17. Austin Collie, BYU
    Height: 6-1. Weight: 200.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.52.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.55.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 4.53.
    Vertical: . Broad: .
    Projected Round (2009): 4-5.

1/10/09: Arguably the best receiver in BYU history, Austin Collie has declared a year early for the NFL Draft. Collie caught 106 passes for 1,538 yards and 15 touchdowns as a junior. He also returned kicks on a 27-yard average.

7/26/08: Despite missing two games, Austin Collie led BYU in receiving yardage (946) and qualified for the All-Mountain West second team. Collie was also solid as a return specialist.

  18. Mohamed Massaquoi, Georgia
    Height: 6-2. Weight: 207.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.49.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.57.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 4.51.
    Vertical: . Broad: 10-7.
    Projected Round (2009): 4-5.

1/4/09: Mohamed Massaquoi finally blew up after a mediocre career at Georgia. Massaquoi finished the year with 58 receptions for 920 yards and eight touchdowns – all career-highs. His best performance came against Georgia Tech, where he caught 11 balls for 180 yards and three scores. He was unstoppable down the stretch.

10/19/08: Mohamed Massaquoi has only two good games this season. He has way too many two-catch, 17-yard clunkers.

5/22/08: A member of the All-SEC Second Team, Mohamed Massaquoi caught 32 passes for 491 yards and four touchdowns in 2007.

  19. Jarett Dillard, Rice
    Height: 5-11. Weight: 187.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.51.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.53.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 4.50.
    Vertical: 42.5. Broad: 10-11.
    Projected Round (2009): 5-6.

1/4/09: As expected, Jarett Dillard posted incredible numbers this year – 79 receptions, 1,224 yards and a whopping 19 touchdowns.

10/19/08: Jarrett Dillard has at least seven receptions in every game this year. Pretty amazing. His size and lacking 40 time kills his stock.

5/22/08: A lot like DeSean Jackson without the blinding speed. How is Jarett Dillard going to get off the line of scrimmage at the next level? That has to be a concern despite his 79 receptions, 1,057 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2007.

2007: I don’t care whom you play against – production is production. Jarett Dillard caught 91 passes for 1,247 yards and 21 touchdowns in 2006.

  20. Johnny Knox, Abilene Christian
    Height: 6-0. Weight: 185.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.45.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.34.
    Vertical: . Broad: 10-2.
    Projected Round (2009): 5-6.

2/23/09: Johnny Knox definitely got himself noticed by running one of the fastest 40s at the 2009 NFL Combine.

10/19/08: Johnny Knox recently had a game where he caught six passes for 232 yards and four touchdowns.

  21. Aaron Kelly, Clemson
    Height: 6-5. Weight: 204.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.53.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.49.
    Vertical: 38. Broad: .
    Projected Round (2009): 5-6.

    2/23/09: A 4.49 40 and a 38-inch vertical are both impressive at 6-5, 204.

1/4/09: Aaron Kelly struggled like everyone else on Clemson this year, garnering 61 receptions for 648 yards and three scores – a major dropoff from last year.

10/19/08: Maybe Aaron Kelly should have declared early. Kelly had his first 100-yard performance against Georgia Tech, but struggled at times with Cullen Harper tanking.

2007: After declaring for the 2008 NFL Draft, Aaron Kelly has decided to stay for his senior year.

Kelly put up great numbers with Cullen Harper emerging as an elite quarterback. Kelly had 88 receptions, 1,081 yards and 11 touchdowns. However, Kelly really needs to improve his 40 if he wants to get drafted in the first two rounds.

  22. Deon Butler, Penn State
    Height: 5-10. Weight: 182.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.43.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.38.
    Vertical: 37. Broad: .
    Projected Round (2009): 5-6.

2/23/09: I aways liked Deon Butler as an underrated receiver. Well, he’s not underrated anymore; Deon Butler ran an unofficial 4.26 at the 2009 NFL Combine. He also had a 37-inch vertical. Scouts and GMs will focus on his game tapes and realize that he was Penn State’s top wideout; not Derrick Williams.

1/4/09: Despite the presence of Derrick Williams, Deon Butler was the best receiver on Penn State’s roster. The only reason he’s so low on this list is his size. However, given his work ethic and skill set, he’ll be hard to cut. Could be the next Troy Brown.

10/19/08: Deon Butler actually leads the team in receiving. He had eight grabs for 105 yards against Michigan.

5/22/08: Probably the most talented Nittany Lion receiver in this draft class. Unfortunately, Deon Butler’s lacking size hurts his draft stock.

2007: Everyone always doubts Deon Butler because of his size, but Butler managed to lead the Nittany Lions in receiving last season with 48 catches and 637 yards. Butler actually had more success as a freshman (691 yards, nine touchdowns), but his production picked up at the end of the year, as Anthony Morelli matured. In fact, Butler had 11 catches for 216 yards in a 33-7 victory against Northwestern. Butler’s size will restrict him to the third or fourth rounds, despite the fact that he has the tools of a first-rounder. Definitely a sleeper.

  23. Brooks Foster, North Carolina
    Height: 6-1. Weight: 212.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.42.
    Combine 40 Time: DNP.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 4.44.
    Vertical: . Broad: .
    Projected Round (2009): 6-7.

2/22/09: Not that the bench press means anything for recievers, but it’s worth noting that Brooks Foster put up 27 reps of 225.

1/4/09: All looks, no substance. Brooks Foster is built like a dynamic wideout, but he has never recorded more than 38 catches, 486 yards and two touchdowns in a single season – and those numbers are from 2006.

10/19/08: Brooks Foster doesn’t have more than three catches in any game this year. You still have to love his projected 40 at his size.

5/22/08: Brooks Foster has nice size, but the production just isn’t there (29 receptions, 417 yards in 2007).

  24. Quan Cosby, Texas
    Height: 5-9. Weight: 198.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.44.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.48.
    Pro Day 40 Time: DNP.
    Vertical: 34.5. Broad: .
    Projected Round (2009): 6-7.

1/20/09: Quan Cosby measured in at 5-9 instead of his projected 5-11. Ouch.

1/4/09: Quan Cosby could be a Day 1 prospect if he weren’t turning 27 soon. He finished with 78 catches, 952 yards and eight touchdowns.

10/19/08: Old Man Cosby had nine receptions for 122 yards against Oklahoma, and followed that up with seven catches and 74 yards against Missouri.

5/22/08: Quan Cosby is much more talented than an average mid-round prospect. He’s got the 40. He also has the production (680 yards, five touchdowns). And he can return kicks as well. So, what’s the problem? He’ll be 27 as a rookie.

  25. Sammie Stroughter, Oregon State
    Height: 5-9. Weight: 189.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.43.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.55.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 4.45.
    Vertical: 30. Broad: .
    Projected Round (2009): 6-7.

1/4/09: Like Deon Butler, a skilled receiver who needs to overcome size issues. Sammie Stroughter finished his senior year with 64 receptions, 952 yards and seven scores.

10/19/08: An undersized, but a quick and productive receiver, Sammie Stroughter has 38 catches, 496 yards and four touchdowns on the year.

  26. Patrick Turner, USC
    Height: 6-5. Weight: 223.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.60.
    Combine 40 Time: DNP.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 4.63.
    Vertical: . Broad: .
    Projected Round (2009): 6-FA.

1/4/09: Patrick Turner finished strong. He compiled 49 catches, 741 yards and 10 scores as a senior.

10/19/08: Nothing special this season. Hope Patrick Turner’s working on his 40!

5/22/08: Patrick Turner’s 40 is going to kill him. He had 48 receptions, 569 yards and three touchdowns last year, so that’s not too great either.

2007: Patrick Turner hasn’t done much at USC (29 receptions and 272 yards were career highs in 2006), but he’ll have an opportunity to shine now that Dwayne Jarrett and Steve Smith are gone. If Turner improves his 40, he could sneak into the first round.

  27. Dominique Edison, Stephen F. Austin
    Height: 6-2. Weight: 196.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.40.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.45.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 4.42.
    Vertical: 37. Broad: .
    Projected Round (2009): 7.

2/23/09: The unknown Dominique Edison invented (Berman-ism) a great 40 at his size and a nice vertical at the 2009 NFL Combine.

  28. Tiquan Underwood, Rutgers
    Height: 6-1. Weight: 178.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.41.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.41.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 4.36.
    Vertical: 41.5. Broad: 10-9.
    Projected Round (2009): 7-FA.

1/4/09: Tiquan Underwood saved his best for last, catching nine passes for 139 yards and three touchdowns in the final two games of the year.

10/19/08: Tons of drops and lacking production (14 catches before the Connecticut game on Oct. 18) has dropped Tiquan Underwood’s stock. His 40 will still intrigue some teams. 5/22/08: Tiquan Underwood had six games of more than 100 receiving yards, totaling 1,100 and seven touchdowns for the entire year.

  29. Andrew Means, Indiana
    Height: 6-1. Weight: 213.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.60.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.48.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 4.36.
    Vertical: . Broad: .
    Projected Round (2009): 7-FA.

3/22/09: Andrew Means turned some heads with a 4.36 at his Pro Day. Was the Combine surface really that much slower?

  30. Marko Mitchell, Nevada
    Height: 6-4. Weight: 213.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.45.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.46.
    Pro Day 40 Time: DNP.
    Vertical: 32.5. Broad: 10-3.
    Projected Round (2009): 7-FA.

1/4/09: Marko Mitchell finished with solid numbers as a senior, collecting 57 catches, 1,011 yards and nine touchdowns.

2007: Despite starting just eight games, Marko Mitchell recorded 53 receptions, 1,129 yards and eight touchdowns in 2007. His yards per catch (21.3) was good for second in the nation. Mitchell also has a nice 40 at his size.

  31. Jeremy Gilchrist, Hampton
    Height: 5-10. Weight: 177.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.46.
    Projected Round (2009): 7-FA.

1/4/09: There’s not much production as a receiver – 40 catches, 544 yards and two touchdowns – but Jeremy Gilchrist took three punts back to the house in 2008.

10/19/08: Jeremy Gilchrist has just 19 receptions in five games.

5/22/08: A transfer from Virginia Tech, Jeremy Gilchrist led Hampton with 69 catches, 1,043 yards and seven touchdowns in 2007.

  32. Michael Jones, Arizona State
    Height: 6-4. Weight: 211.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.51.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 4.54.
    Vertical: 36.5. Broad: 10-7.
    Projected Round (2009): 7-FA.

1/4/09: Michael Jones finished the season with 61 receptions, 744 yards and four touchdowns.

10/19/08: Michael Jones has been more consistent this season, catching at least four passes in all but one game. He’s on pace for 60 receptions and 854 yards. He’s only been to the end zone once, however.

5/22/08: Michael Jones was pretty inconsistent last year, but he came on in the final game of the year. Jones had eight receptions, 107 yards and two touchdowns against Texas in the Pacific Life Holiday postseason exhibition match.

  33. Jamarko Simmons, Western Michigan
    Height: 6-2. Weight: 231.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.60.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 4.50.
    Vertical: 33. Broad: 9-11.
    Projected Round (2009): 7-FA.

1/4/09: Thanks to his monstrous frame, Jamarko Simmons was able to catch 98 balls, 1,184 yards and seven touchdowns as a senior.

10/19/08: Jamarko Simmons, currently on pace to eclipse the 1,000-yard barrier for the first time in his career, had 13 catches and 118 yards at Central Michigan on Oct. 18.

5/22/08: I find it odd that Jamarko Simmons had his best production against the likes of West Virginia (14 rec, 144 yds, 2 TDs) and Missouri (10 rec, 98 yds), and had his worst outings versus Central Connecticut State (3 rec, 33 yds) and Central Michigan (2 rec, 22 yards). In all, Simmons finished with 84 catches, 980 yards and six touchdowns.

  34. Brandon Tate, North Carolina
    Height: 6-0. Weight: 183.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.50.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.64.
    Vertical: . Broad: 10-6.
    Projected Round (2009): 7-FA.

2/21/09: Coming off injury, it’s only natural that Brandon Tate is underweight; he lost 12 pounds since tearing up his knee.

10/19/08: Formerly an early-round prospect, Brandon Tate had 16 catches, 376 yards and three touchdowns in the first six games of the season. He also took a punt return back to the house. Unfortunately, he tore his ACL and is now in danger of not being drafted.

  35. Demetrius Byrd, LSU
    Height: 6-0. Weight: 199.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.45.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.42.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 4.43.
    Vertical: 35.5. Broad: 9-9.
    Projected Round (2009): 7-FA.

1/4/09: In his final six games of the year, Demetrius Byrd caught 14 passes for 146 yards and one touchdown. Epic fail.

10/19/08: A disappointment this season, Demetrius Byrd has either two or three receptions in every game this season, save for one.

5/22/08: Demetrius Byrd improved throughout the year and had a pair of 6-catch performances in November. Byrd finished with 35 receptions, 621 yards and seven touchdowns.

  36. Brennan Marion, Tulsa
    Height: 5-11. Weight: 187.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.49.
    Combine 40 Time: DNP.
    Vertical: . Broad: .
    Projected Round (2009): 7-FA.

1/4/09: Brennan Marion finished the year with 43 receptions, 1,112 yards and eight scores.

10/19/08: Brennan Marion had a solid season entering the UTEP game. Solid became excellent, as Marion caught six balls for 233 yards and three touchdowns.

5/22/08: Brennan Marion’s 40 will get him noticed, as will his 2007 numbers: 1,244 yards and 11 touchdowns. Oh, and he didn’t play in two of Tulsa’s 13 games.

  37. Lucas Taylor, WR, Tennessee
    Height: 5-11. Weight: 189.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.55.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 4.36.
    Vertical: 36. Broad: 10-6.
    Projected Round (2009): 7-FA.

  38. Darius Passmore, Marshall
    Height: 6-1. Weight: 189.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.48.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.51.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 4.46.
    Vertical: . Broad: 9-3.
    Projected Round (2009): 7-FA.

2/21/09: I had Darius Passmore at 6-3, 190. The Combine has him at 6-0, 188. Looks like someone was wearing high heels at Marshall weigh-ins…

1/4/09: A mid-Day 2 prospect if he keeps his 40 to a high 4.4 or low 4.5, Darius Passmore notched 56 receptions, 945 yards and seven touchdowns as a senior.

10/19/08: Darius Passmore opened some eyes this year with a 7-catch, 95-yard outing at Wisconsin. He has improved, and even registered 165 yards at UAB on Oct. 18.

  39. Kenny McKinley, South Carolina
    Height: 6-0. Weight: 189.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.44.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.44.
    Vertical: 37. Broad: .
    Projected Round (2009): 7-FA.

1/20/09: Had the smallest hands (8 3/4) of anyone at the Senior Bowl.

1/4/09: Thanks to Steve Spurrier’s idiotic quarterback management, Kenny McKinley struggled as a senior, garnering just 48 receptions, 556 yards and four touchdowns.

10/19/08: Kenny McKinley missed three games with a hamstring injury. He had seven catches, 88 yards and a touchdown at Kentucky, but dropped a key pass in LSU territory the following week.

2007: Kenny McKinley followed up a 51-catch 2006 season with 77 receptions, 968 yards and nine touchdowns despite playing with a toe injury.

  40. Greg Orton, Purdue
    Height: 6-3. Weight: 207.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.54.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.62.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 4.61.
    Vertical: 38. Broad: 10-5.
    Projected Round (2009): 7-FA.

1/4/09: Greg Orton finished the season with 69 receptions, 720 yards and five scores. 10/19/08: The production is there (503 yards in seven games).

5/22/08: A mediocre 40 hurts Greg Orton, who had 67 receptions for 752 yards and three touchdowns in 2007.

  41. Jeremy Childs, Boise State
    Height: 6-0. Weight: 196.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.42.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.57.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 4.47.
    Vertical: . Broad: .
    Projected Round (2009): 7-FA.

1/14/09: It’s pretty much a given that Boise State’s boosters don’t pay the football players nearly as much as the top-tier schools. Jeremy Childs is yet another Bronco to declare early. Childs had 71 receptions, 800 yards and seven touchdowns as a junior.

7/26/08: Despite missing Boise State’s postseason exhibition match, Jeremy Childs managed 82 catches, 1,045 yards and nine touchdowns, earning himself a spot on the All-WAC first team.

  42. Brian Hartline, Ohio State
    Height: 6-2. Weight: 195.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.53.
    Combine 40 Time: DNP.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 4.49.
    Vertical: . Broad: .
    Projected Round (2009): 7-FA.

1/15/09: I don’t understand this. Why would Brian Hartline declare after such an awful year? He had just 21 receptions, 479 yards and four touchdowns as a junior.

7/26/08: Brian Hartline finished behind Brian Robiskie in receptions (52) and yards (694) as a sophomore. He’s talented, but his mediocre 40 is going to hurt his draft stock.

  43. Jaison Williams, Oregon
    Height: 6-4. Weight: 237.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.53.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.64.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 4.47.
    Vertical: 36.5. Broad: 9-8.
    Projected Round (2009): 7-FA.

3/18/09: Jaison Williams ran a 4.47 and notched a 36.5-inch vertical at his Pro Day. This definitely puts him back on the radar.

1/4/09: Should have declared last year with Dennis Dixon. Jaison Williams was benched this season, finishing with just 33 receptions, 421 yards and three scores.

10/19/08: Jaison Williams’ production is down, but considering the dropoff at quarterback in the wake of Dennis Dixon’s departure, it’s not really a surprise.

5/22/08: A 4.6 isn’t good for a receiver, but if the guy’s 6-5, 240, who cares? Jaison Williams was a powerful weapon for Dennis Dixon; Williams notched 55 receptions, 844 yards and eight touchdowns. NFL GMs be warned – Williams is known for his butter fingers.

  44. David Richmond, San Jose State
    Height: 6-1. Weight: 197.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.54.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.62.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 4.51.
    Vertical: . Broad: 9-10.
    Projected Round (2009): 7-FA.

1/4/09: Pretty much duplicating his 2007 figures, David Richmond notched 70 catches, 806 yards and seven scores.

10/19/08: David Richmond has become more consistent this season. He’s on the edge of draft consideration. We’ll have to see what he does at the Combine or his Pro Day.

5/22/08: David Richmond compiled 55 catches, 852 yards and three touchdowns in 2007. Richmond had a 10- and a 9-reception game. Other than that, he averaged 3.6 receptions per contest.

  45. Nate Swift, Nebraska
    Height: 6-1. Weight: 203.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.55.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.64.
    Vertical: . Broad: .
    Projected Round (2009): 7-FA.

1/4/09: Finishing with 60 receptions, 909 yards and nine scores, Nate Swift was also able to return a punt for a touchdown.

10/19/08: Nate Swift just had the best game of his 2008 season – an eight-catch, 112-yard performance at Iowa State. He’s on pace to have the best year of his career.

5/22/08: Nate Swift’s production in Bill Callahan’s offense was limited; he had 36 receptions, 520 yards and three touchdowns.

  46. Manuel Johnson, Oklahoma
    Height: 5-11. Weight: 189.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.47.
    Combine 40 Time: DNP.
    Vertical: . Broad: .
    Projected Round (2009): 7-FA.

1/4/09: Slowed down because of his arm injury, Manuel Johnson managed only six receptions in the final six games of the season.

10/19/08: Prior to the Kansas game in which he suffered an arm injury, Manuel Johnson led the Sooners in receiving with 32 catches, 553 yards and eight touchdowns.

  47. Isaiah Williams, Maryland
    Height: 6-2. Weight: 205.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.48.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 4.38.
    Vertical: 41. Broad: .
    Projected Round (2009): 7-FA.

3/11/09: Had just 10 catches for 125 yards and a touchdown, but his amazing Pro Day numbers may put him on the radar.

  48. Jordan Norwood, Penn State
    Height: 5-11. Weight: 179.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.44.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.57.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 4.55.
    Vertical: 38. Broad: .
    Projected Round (2009): FA.

2/23/09: I was shocked by how slow Jordan Norwood was in Indianapolis.

10/19/08: Jordan Norwood may look like he’s 12, but he plays the game in Beast Mode. Norwood had an eight-catch, 116-yard performance against Oregon State.

5/22/08: Like Deon Butler, Jordan Norwood is a talented receiver whose small frame will hinder his draft stock. And if Norwood doesn’t make it in the NFL, ESPN can just hire him as a bracketologist; he was one of the top finishers in the 2006 Facebook NCAA Tournament Bracket Challenge.

2007: Another small Penn State receiver who will probably be successful in the NFL. Jordan Norwood caught 45 passes for 472 yards and two scores in 2006. However, unlike Derrick Williams and Deon Butler, Norwood’s production decreased asthe 2006 campaign progressed; 13 of Norwood’s 45 receptions came in the first two weeks of the season.

  49. Quinten Lawrence, McNeese State
    Height: 6-0. Weight: 184.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.33.
    Combine 40 Time: DNP.
    Vertical: . Broad: .
    Projected Round (2009): FA.

  50. Dicky Lyons Jr., Kentucky
    Height: 5-11. Weight: 193.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.47.
    Projected Round (2009): FA.

10/19/08: Dicky Lyons tore his PCL and MCL in October.

5/22/08: Though he’ll be the main receiver at Kentucky with Keenan Burton and Steve Johnson gone, Dicky Lyons’ production could slip because Andre’ Woodson will no longer be under center. Lyons had 56 catches, 655 yards and seven scores in 2007. Not bad for a fourth option (Jacob Tamme).

  51. George Smith, Vanderbilt
    Height: 6-3. Weight: 200.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.47.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 4.67.
    Vertical: 34.5. Broad: 10-4.
    Projected Round (2009): FA.

1/4/09: Not the way you want to end your collegiate career – George Smith had 13 receptions, 142 yards and no scores as a senior. He needs an incredible combine to bounce back.

10/19/08: George Smith has just four receptions on the year, as he’s coming off foot surgery.

5/22/08: Registered 32 receptions, 397 yards and three touchdowns as a junior. Will be entering his third year as a starter in 2008.

  52. Jamayel Smith, Mississippi State
    Height: 6-1. Weight: 186.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.42.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 4.50.
    Vertical: 39. Broad: 10-2.
    Projected Round (2009): FA.

10/19/08: Jamayel Smith has only eight receptions on the year. Way to step up in your senior year.

5/22/08: Jamayel Smith may have just caught 33 passes for 510 yards in 2007, but look past that. Check out his performance against Arkansas in mid-November: 10 catches, 208 yards and two scores. A sign of things to come?

  53. Casey Fitzgerald, North Texas
    Height: 5-11. Weight: 186.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.65.
    Projected Round (2009): FA.

10/19/08: Casey Fitzgerald has caught at least nine passes in four games this season, including a 14-reception, 231-yard outing against Louisiana-Lafayette. Unfortunately, his 40 blows.

5/22/08: Casey Fitzgerald had one of the most dominating performances of the year in college football when he ripped apart SMU’s secondary for 18 catches, 327 yards and two touchdowns. Fitzgerald finished with 111 receptions, 1,322 yards and 12 scores. For what it’s worth, he had 126 yards at Oklahoma in the season opener.

  54. Taurus Johnson, South Florida
    Height: 6-0. Weight: 206.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.53.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.47.
    Pro Day 40 Time: DNP.
    Vertical: 35.5. Broad: 10-1.
    Projected Round (2009): FA.

  55. Greg Carr, Florida State
    Height: 6-5. Weight: 217.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.63.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 4.58.
    Vertical: 31. Broad: 9-6.
    Projected Round (2009): FA.

10/19/08: Greg Carr’s best game this season: three catches, 67 yards against West Carolina. Yikes.

5/22/08: Greg Carr, who figures to be an imposing red-zone target in the NFL, hasn’t been able to show what he’s made of because of mediocre quarterback play at Florida State. Carr caught 45 passes for 795 yards and four touchdowns in 2007.

2007: Greg Carr caught 12 touchdowns but only 34 receptions in 2006. A nice end-zone target at 6-6.

  56. Josh Briscoe, Tennessee –
    Height: 6-3. Weight: 183. Projected 40 Time: 4.55. Projected Round (2009): FA.
  57. Justin Brown, Hampton –
    Height: 6-2. Weight: 200. Projected 40 Time: 4.54. Projected Round (2009): FA.

  58. Eron Riley, Duke
    Height: 6-3. Weight: 205.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.54.
    Projected Round (2009): FA.

5/22/08: Eron Riley was arrested in January for allegedly hitting someone outside a bar. Awesome.

  59. Dante Love, Ball State
    Height: 5-10. Weight: 178.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.44.
    Projected Round (2009): FA.

    10/19/08: Suffered a career-ending back injury. What a shame.

5/22/08: Though he’s one of the smaller receivers in this class, Dante Love made a huge impact on the field last year, catching 100 balls for 1,398 yards and 10 touchdowns. He’s also an effective kick returner.
