Heading into the 2015 college football season WalterFootball.com will debut our projections for the nation’s leaders during the fall. The All-American teams always have some surprises, and the stars of next fall could be the headlining players next May in the 2016 NFL Draft.

First-Team Kicker: Roberto Aguayo, Florida State

Aguayo had an excellent 2014 season as he connected on 27-of-30 field goals. Not only was the sophomore incredibly accurate, he showed some distance as he was 3-of-4 in the 50+-yard range. Aguayo also made 6-of-8 in 40+-yard. If the junior maintains that level of play, he could be a mid-round selection in his draft class. Aguayo looks like the best kicker in the nation entering the fall.

Second-Team Kicker: Marshall Morgan, Georgia

In 2014, Morgan made 16-of-21 attempts. He was three-of-six in the 40-yard range and made his only attempt over 50 yards. Morgan made 22-of-24 field goals in 2013. He was perfect on 47 extra points that season and made 17 field goals in a row. Morgan was a First-Team All-SEC selection as well. He also shows some power with field goals from 55 and 56 yards out.

Third-Team Kicker: Andy Phillips, Utah

Phillips was 23-of-28 on field goals in 2014. He hit both attempts of 50 yards and was 10-of-13 in the 40-yard range. He also was 17-of-20 as a freshman in 2013. Phillips has a strong, accurate leg.

Kicker Honorable Mentions: LSU’s Kolby Delahoussaye, South Carolina’s Elliott Fry, Arizona State’s Zane Gonzalez, Duke’s Ross Martin, TCU’s Jaden Oberkom, UCLA’s Ka’imi Fairbairn and San Jose State’s Austin Lopez.

First-Team Punter: JK Scott, Alabama

Scott was superb for Alabama in 2014. The freshman averaged a booming 48 yards per punt with a long of 73. It turned out to be the best season ever for a punter in Alabama school history. Scott dropped 56 percent of his punts inside the opponent’s 20-yard line (31-for-55). He was a First-Team All-SEC selection and a finalist for the Ray Guy Award. It will be interesting to see if Scott can stay consistent. If he does, he should be a First-Team All-American.

Second-Team Punter: Austin Rehkow, Idaho

Rehkow has been a model of consistency in his two seasons. He averaged 47.8 yards per punt as a freshman and sophomore. Rehkow had long punts of 73 and 65 yards, so he has a powerful leg as well. If Rehkow can continue that level of play, he has the potential to be drafted early for a punter, which you could argue is even being drafted at all. Still, Rehkow deserves All-American honors if he maintains that level of play in 2015.

Third-Team Punter: Jaime Keehn, LSU

Keehn turned in an excellent 2014 season for LSU, averaging 44.9 yards per punt. He put up a long of 64 yards. In 2013, Keehn averaged 41 yards, and the year prior, he averaged 43.7 yards. Keehn also has good coverage units at his disposal. Another quality year from him looks very likely.

Punter Honorable Mentions: Miami’s Justin Vogel, Ohio State’s Cameron Johnston, Ole Miss’ Will Gleeson, Texas A&M’s Drew Kaser, TCU’s Ethan Perry, West Virginia Nick O’Toole, Virginia Tech’s A.J. Hughes, Wisconsin’s Drew Meyer and Kentucky’s Landon Foster.
