With the Kessler pick, I'm sure that Cleveland was in danger of getting two Millen grades in one Draft.. Has it ever been done before? Two Millens in one Draft? Anyway, I'm really proud of the Bears and Jaguars; they seem to know what they are doing. The Colts have greatly improved also; job security on a short leash works wonders sometimes. What about Romeo Okwara out of Notre Dame (3-4 DE)? Could this kid from Nigeria be a good pick? Also could the fall of Andrew Billings be explained? Instead of Niagra Falls and the 4 falls of Buffalo, we have the Billings falls.
Good results overall yesterday in sports. MLB: Closed and won a par with the Cubs -1.5 RL -135. Got another win win par with Balt game over and Seattle last night. I win two start up par plays..thank you Mets game Over and Rays game Under. Not posted (must have skipped it) but I do lose one par with the Under in the Cards game. NBA: Won another basketball teaser with Portland -2 last night...(Whew!) NHL In a well played game I lose a par with the Blues loss, albeit slightly hedged to take some of the sting out of the defeat. Congrats to winners and back later with some plays.
Deron Williams Heading to Turkey: The First NBA Lockout Domino to Fall? - July 19
After playing at the America Century Championship golf tournament Friday night, Deron Williams confirmed what had been reported since the NBA Lockout began on July 1.
"Just made it official, headed to Turkey," Williams tweeted. The New Jersey Nets point guard also tweeted an image of his signature on the contract that is reportedly a 1-year deal worth $5 million.
This announcement could be monumental and possibly set a precedent for established NBA superstars looking to head overseas, assuming the lockout is prolonged as many expect. Many marquee players have said they are open to the possibility of heading across the Atlantic if the negotiations of a new CBA are dragged out. That decision also comes with many concerns though.
What happens if Williams suffers a season-ending injury while playing for Besiktas and is unable to play for the Nets once the lockout ends? Will the NBA players union even allow Williams or any other big name players currently under contract to play in Europe?
If Williams does suit up for Besiktas, he will likely go head-to-head at some point with fellow former Illini point guard Demetri McCamey. Mersin of the Turkish Basketball League has signed McCamey to a 1-year contract. After going undrafted last month, McCamey decided to play professionally in Europe rather than waiting for the lockout to end and hoping to catch on with a NBA team during training camp.
Now all the other Turkish Basketball League teams should make runs at Dee Brown, Luther Head, and Chester Frazier. Anybody know what Frank Williams is up to? Maybe Derek Harper still has some spring in his step...
