2011 Free Agents: Tight Ends

2011 NFL Free Agent Positions:

2011 Free Agency: Star rating is out of five. Age listing as of Sept. 1, 2011.

  1. Owen Daniels, TE, Texans. Age: 27.
    Re-signed with Texans

Clearly over his ACL tear, Owen Daniels caught 22 passes for 271 yards and two touchdowns in the final four weeks of the season.

  2. Zach Miller, TE, Raiders. Age: 25.
    Signed with Seahawks

Zach Miller has caught at least 56 passes in each of the previous three years. I'd like to see what he could do in a more potent passing attack.

  3. Marcedes Lewis, TE, Jaguars. Age: 27.
Re-signed with Jaguars (5 years, $35 million; $18 million guaranteed)

Marcedes Lewis finally lived up to expectations, catching 58 balls for 700 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2010. Isn't it a bit convenient though that he finally played well when he was in his contract year? Be careful, Jags.

  4. Kevin Boss, TE, Giants. Age: 27.
Signed with Raiders (4 years, $16 million)

Kevin Boss is a decent end zone target (16 TDs last 3 years) and a solid blocker.

  5. Todd Heap, TE, Ravens. Age: 31.
    Signed with Cardinals (2 years)

Todd Heap could be brought back to Baltimore at a cheaper price, but he's obviously a declining player who will only lose time to Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta despite the fact that he hauled in 10 receptions in a victory over Kansas City in the playoffs.

  6. Alge Crumpler, TE, Patriots. Age: 33.
Alge Crumpler provides very little in the passing game, but he's a very good blocking tight end despite the fact that he's 33 years old.

  7. Evan Moore (ERFA), TE, Browns. Age: 29.
    Tendered by Browns

Evan Moore caught 16 balls for 322 yards and a touchdown this year, averaging 20.1 yards per reception. A former college basketball player, Moore wasn't used nearly enough in 2010.

  8. David Thomas, TE, Saints. Age: 28. -- Re-signed with Saints

  10. Ben Hartsock, TE, Jets. Age: 31. -- Signed with Panthers (2 years)

  14. Bo Scaife, TE, Titans. Age: 30. -- Signed with Bengals (1 year, $1 million)
  15. Andre Smith, TE, Virginia Tech. Age: 21.

  17. Randy McMichael, TE, Chargers. Age: 32. -- Re-signed with Chargers (1 year)
  18. Daniel Graham, TE, Broncos. Age: 32. -- Signed with Titans (3 years)
  19. Chris Baker, TE, Seahawks. Age: 31.
  20. Stephen Spach, TE, Cardinals. Age: 29. -- Re-signed with Cardinals
  21. Leonard Pope, TE, Chiefs. Age: 27. -- Re-signed with Chiefs
  22. Weslye Saunders, TE, South Carolina. Age: 22. -- Signed with Steelers
  23. Dante Rosario, TE, Panthers. Age: 26. -- Signed with Broncos
  24. Jeff King, TE, Panthers. Age: 28. -- Signed with Cardinals
  25. Kris Wilson, TE, Chargers. Age: 30. -- Signed with Ravens
  26. Donald Lee, TE, Packers. Age: 31. -- Signed with Eagles (1 year)
  27. David Martin, TE, Bills. Age: 32.
  28. Desmond Clark, TE, Bears. Age: 34. -- Re-signed with Bears
  29. Reggie Kelly, TE, Bengals. Age: 34. -- Signed with Falcons

i think Ozzie Smith will be smart enough not to overpay for Dennis Pitta.

Pitta is a decent player, if i were a Ravens fan i'd rather trust Ozzie to draft a replacement than spend big $$.

Jimmy Graham is a legit 5 Star player, every other TE listed should be 2 stars or lower when compared with him. None of the other TE's make any noticeable impact.

Jimmy Graham an unstoppable force? Lol, tell that to the Legion of Boom.

Graham WAS an unstoppable force until a few weeks ago when the Legion of Boom beat on him so hard the only place he could be found was pouting on the bench. Even after he was trying to start fights before the game and at halftime.

I'm wondering if the Ravens will resign Pitta. So many teams could use his talent. He would be a huge upgrade at TE, but the cost may be too great. I think he would flourish in Arizona.

You probably didn't watch Pettigrew the last 13 games of the season. He was near flawless. You're just going off old stereotypes.

What was Ozzie smoking when he signed Clark and Stokely? Doesn't he still have D. Mason and Todd Heap phone numbers. Flacco needs them to make the playoffs.

Aaron Hernandez should probably hire OJs lawyers if he wants out of this problem. But in all seriousness is he going to be a tight end if and when he gets out of prison? I think it might be more accurate to list him as a wide reciever...

I wouldn't say we're being robbed of him. He's made his choice
