2015 NFL Draft Position Rankings:
QB | RB | FB | WR | TE | OT | G | C | DE | DT | NT | 3-4 OLB | 3-4 DE | OLB | ILB | CB | S | K

  1. Robert Lester*, S, Alabama
    Height: 6-2. Weight: 210.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.51.
    Projected Round (2012): 1-2.

5/30/11: A second-team All-SEC member, Robert Lester picked off a whopping eight passes in his first year as a starter. He's currently the favorite to be the first safety off the board in the 2012 NFL Draft, should he declare.

  2. T.J. McDonald*, S, USC
    Height: 6-2. Weight: 205.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.49.
    Projected Round (2012): 2.

5/30/11: Had three interceptions and four passes broken up as a sophomore, earning a spot on the All-Pac-10 Second Team.

  3. Eddie Whitley, FS, Virginia Tech
    Height: 6-1. Weight: 190.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.42.
    Projected Round (2012): 2.

5/30/11: Parlayed a very good spring into a great junior campaign. Broke up six passes in 2010.

8/12/10: The favorite to start at free safety this upcoming season after a really strong spring.

  4. Ray Ray Armstrong*, SS, Miami
    Height: 6-4. Weight: 220.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.57.
    Projected Round (2012): 2-3.

5/30/11: A physically talented big safety who hasn't put it together quite yet. Ray Ray Armstrong had three picks as a sophomore.

  5. Kenny Tate, SS, Maryland
    Height: 6-4. Weight: 220.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.64.
    Projected Round (2012): 3-4.

5/30/11: Kenny Tate had eight TFL, three interceptions and three passes broken up as a junior. He's going to play linebacker as a senior, but his natural position is free safety.

8/12/10: Kenny Tate is an impressive athlete, but these monstrous safeties are out of style in the pass-happy NFL.

  6. Aaron Henry, FS, Wisconsin
    Height: 6-0. Weight: 205.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.48.
    Projected Round (2012): 3-4.

5/30/11: Aaron Henry was an All-Big Ten second-teamer thanks to seven passes broken up in 2010.

  7. Tony Dye, SS, UCLA
    Height: 5-11. Weight: 204.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.50.
    Projected Round (2012): 3-4.

5/30/11: Broke up nine passes in 2010, earning an All-Pac-10 honorable mention.

8/12/10: Had 73 tackles and two pass break-ups in 2009.

  8. Rashard Hall*, FS, Clemson
    Height: 6-2. Weight: 195.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.48.
    Projected Round (2012): 3-4.

5/30/11: Just two interceptions and a pair of pass break-ups in 2010.

8/12/10: Rashard Hall is coming off a very impressive redshirt freshman year in which he recorded six interceptions, 55 tackles and two pass break-ups.

  9. Delano Howell, SS, Stanford
    Height: 5-11. Weight: 198.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.53.
    Projected Round (2012): 3-4.

5/30/11: Delano Howell impressively had five picks and 10 passes broken up last season.

8/12/10: Delano Howell notched 77 tackles and three pass break-ups in 2009.

  10. Trumaine Johnson, FS, Montana
    Height: 6-2. Weight: 197.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.54.
    Projected Round (2012): 3-4.

5/30/11: Had four interceptions (two pick-sixes) and seven passes broken up in 2010.

8/12/10: Trumaine Johnson started as a true freshman for perennial Division 1-AA powerhouse Montana.

  11. Blake Gideon, FS, Texas
    Height: 6-1. Weight: 200.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.54.
    Projected Round (2012): 3-4.

5/30/11: An All-Big XII honorable mention. Broke up three passes last season.

8/12/10: Blake Gideon had 49 tackles and six interceptions to go along with his three pass break-ups in 2009.

  12. Janzen Jackson*, FS, Tennessee
    Height: 6-0. Weight: 180.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.40.
    Projected Round (2012): 3-5.

5/30/11: Janzen Jackson mysteriously withdrew from Tennessee in February to deal with personal issues. This undoubtedly hurts his draft stock.

8/12/10: Janzen Jackson started nine games as a true freshman next to Eric Berry. He logged 37 tackles and three pass break-ups.

  13. Lance Mitchell, S, Oregon State
    Height: 6-2. Weight: 205.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.60.
    Projected Round (2012): 4-6.

5/30/11: Totaled just three pass break-ups and two picks in 2010.

8/12/10: Lance Mitchell had 72 tackles and seven pass break-ups as a sophomore.

  14. George Iloka, S, Boise State
    Height: 6-3. Weight: 207.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.58.
    Projected Round (2012): 4-6.

  15. Tavon Wilson, SS, Illinois
    Height: 6-0. Weight: 205.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.51.
    Projected Round (2012): 4-6.

5/30/11: Moved over to strong safety in 2010 after playing cornerback earlier in his collegiate career. The transition went very well.

8/11/10: Tavon Wilson broke up seven passes in addition to getting 74 tackles as a sophomore.

  16. Winston Guy Jr., S, Kentucky
    Height: 6-1. Weight: 210.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.49.
    Projected Round (2012): 4-6.

8/12/10: An impressive physical specimen, Winston Guy Jr. broke up five passes in 2009 to go along with his 60 tackles.

  17. Neiko Thorpe, FS, Auburn
    Height: 6-1. Weight: 185.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.52.
    Projected Round (2012): 4-6.

5/30/11: Neiko Thorpe will be moving from cornerback to free safety in 2011.

8/11/10: Neiko Thorpe broke up nine passes as a sophomore. His height will intrigue teams, and if he can break into the 4.4s, he could go in the first round.

  18. Mark Barron, SS, Alabama
    Height: 6-2. Weight: 215.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.61.
    Projected Round (2011): 4-6.

5/30/11: Mark Barron, who struggled down the stretch of the 2010 season, was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor in the spring.

10/9/10: I've seen a lot of inconsistency out of Barron on tape, but he's the hardest hitting safety in the entire nation. He'll really flash, and then he'll take bad angles or be late to the ball.

5/14/10: A pure strong safety, Mark Barron broke up 11 passes as a junior. He also had 74 tackles and seven interceptions.

  19. Brandon Taylor, FS, LSU
    Height: 6-0. Weight: 191.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.51.
    Projected Round (2012): 4-6.

5/30/11: Missed some time last season with a leg injury, but was still able to break up five passes.

8/12/10: Brandon Taylor broke up four passes and intercepted two balls as a sophomore.

  20. Karnell Hatcher, S, LSU
    Height: 6-2. Weight: 212.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.53.
    Projected Round (2012): 5-7.

5/30/11: Karnell Hatcher is a gifted athlete, but he's entering just his second year as a starter.

  21. Harrison Smith, S, Notre Dame
    Height: 6-2. Weight: 215.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.61.
    Projected Round (2012): 5-7.

5/30/11: Harrison Smith had seven interceptions and seven passes broken up in 2010.

8/12/10: Harrison Smith collected 69 tackles, 6.5 TFL and five pass break-ups as a junior.

  22. Sean Baker, S, Ball State
    Height: 6-1. Weight: 200.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.55.
    Projected Round (2012): 5-7.

8/12/10: Sean Baker totaled 61 tackles, three pass break-ups and four interceptions as a sophomore.

  23. Sean Cattouse, SS, California
    Height: 6-2. Weight: 216.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.64.
    Projected Round (2012): 5-7.

5/30/11: Broke up seven passes as a junior.

8/12/10: Sean Cattouse had 37 tackles and three pass break-ups in 2009.

  24. Matt Merletti, SS, North Carolina
    Height: 5-11. Weight: 200.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.59.
    Projected Round (2012): 6-FA.

  25. Jerrell Young, FS, South Florida
    Height: 6-1. Weight: 205.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.53.
    Projected Round (2012): 6-FA.

  26. Charles Mitchell, SS, Mississippi State
    Height: 5-11. Weight: 205.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.57.
    Projected Round (2012): 6-FA.

  27. Nolan Brewster, S, Texas
    Height: 6-2. Weight: 210.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.58.
    Projected Round (2012): 6-FA.

8/12/10: Figures to take over for Earl Thomas as Texas' starting free safety.

  28. Markelle Martin, S, Oklahoma State
    Height: 6-1. Weight: 202.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.58.
    Projected Round (2012): 7-FA.

  29. Corey Mosley, S, Virginia
    Height: 5-10. Weight: 200.

You guys should watch for OTHA FOSTER III at University West Alabama. He was recruited really hard by Ole Miss-but because he only had one year of eligibility left--NCAA would not let Ole Miss sign him. But being a Hard Core Marine and GO-Getter he refused to give up and went to UWA and had an AWESOME year!!! Damien was actually his team recruiter @ Ole Miss.

Walter,

You are an idiot. Clearly you've never seen my big board. Caleb Sturgis should be drafted in the 1st or 2nd round. If he's available in round 3 I'll be stunned!

CJ Barnett is going to be a RS JR this year so he shouldn't be on the list Or should have a star.

Put Damien Jackson up against any, and I mean any of them, I will guarantee who will come out on top. The God given talent and the drive to be the best will always win.

Damien Jackson, a transfer from judo, in which he led tackles and had several interceptions, went to ole miss and had an impact, won the starting positions over a senior, should definitely be considered to be a top draft pick. He was a 5th to 7th round draft pick all year.

Can't stand the ads that start audio automatically--and restart after I turn it off. Been at this site for years. I'll check back in a month. If they're still here, it's my last time.
Need to look far and wide for safeties this year!! 04-01-2012 12:59 pm xxx.xxx.xxx11.2 (total posts: 1)

This seems like a weak safety class this year. Saw a kid play in the Player's All-Star Classic that looked great. Chad Faulcon...did some research - he's a Div. 3 kid, but put up great #'s this season. He balled out at the all-star game playing with/against Div. 1 players. Teams should search for good players w/o character issues and not settle for the weak crop of safeties from the big schools. Football is football -no matter the Division-check this kid Chad Faulcon out-kid looks like he can play!

I looked up a couple of these guys that everyone has been talkin about and one that stood out was that Loka Kanongataa kid. His highlight tape is ridiculous. I don't know what level he was playing at and he might have to adjust to the level of competition in the NFL but he absolutely deserves to get some looks. Good luck to him.

Kelcie McCray, Arkansas State
Christian Thompson, South Carolina State

They are very good athletes with rising draft stock. They should be on this list.
