College Football Playoff Rankings Published at 10/30/2017
|
This was by far the best week of college football yet (not that the rest were bad). It's time now, with November on the horizon, to rank teams for the CFP. (analysis on Tuesday)
1. Alabama, 8-0: The always a bit overrated Bama have wrecked most teams this year, and they and Georgia look like they're on a crash course for the undefeated game in the SEC championship.
2. Georgia, 8-0: Georgia is also going to be undefeated most likely, so circle the date of the SEC championship on your calendars, as that will be a preview of the CFP a month in advance.
3. Ohio State, 7-1: Remember how we were all concerned about OSU after Oklahoma dominated them? No more. A convincing comeback win has me strongly believing in the Buckeyes. JT Barrett looks like he is becoming great again.
4. Notre Dame, 7-1: They only lost to the number 2 team, Georgia, and blew out both NC State and USC. Brandon Wimbush is amazing.
5. Clemson, 7-1: They could be undefeated now if Kelly Bryant didn't play hurt against Syracuse. Clemson is a complete team that doesn't have any names in the heisman race, like Georgia and Wisconsin.
6. Penn State, 7-1: Saquon Barkley is great, but the loss to OSU may knock them out of the CFP, unless OSU loses again. Which is doubtful. They were fine till the 4th quarter. They're still a top team, but they're unlikely to get to the CFP.
7. Wisconsin, 8-0: Wisconsin has had a brutally easy schedule and the only tough game is Michigan at home. Hell, they could win the big ten and miss the playoff. But there's no way they beat OSU or Penn State in the BIG TEN championship.
8. Miami, 7-0: Miami is similar to Wisconsin, but better. They could be great and could upset Clemson. But I think that'll be tough, but anyhow, great team. If only they had Mark Walton.
