TE Value Picks for Week 3

With Week 1 and 2 in the books, we start to get a better idea of what to expect from teams in the NFL. Yesterday we talked quarterbacks, and today were moving to a QB’s safety blanket, the tight end. Again, this is all based on Draft Kings salary numbers and scoring, these are my value picks, NOT my best tight ends of the week. Also these are for Sunday’s games only. These are the guys that I foresee offering the best bang for buck when picking your rosters this week. With tight ends I see a “Value” pick anything less than $4,500. When you pay $6,500 or more for a TE, that guy must be posting 22+ points. $5,000 to $6,400 should be getting you between 15 and 21 points. So, when looking at the guys I’m listing below $4,500, they should ideally only be putting between 8-14 points but I feel offer you the ability to get more value.

1.  TE Clive Walford, Oakland Raiders V.S. Tennessee Titans $2,800:

I’m not sure if people over at Draft Kings are watching Walford play, cause for about bottom of the barrel price here Walford is a steal. Walford secured 6 of 7 targets this last week in a shootout with the Falcons. The Titans run defense is decent and I feel Oakland will see a lot of 3rd and short situations, targeting Walford there in this game. There are only about 3 receiving targets consistent on the Raiders offense, and Walford is one of them.  I like Walford in this week for 6 receptions, 50 yards and a touchdown for 17 points.

2.  TE Eric Ebron, Detroit Lions V.S. Green Bay Packers $3,700:

Ebron is playing to the talent level that the Lions wanted when they drafted him in the first round. While the offense seemed to stall right at the end of the Titan’s game, I still think this offense is special and will be great. Ebron has been targeted 12 times in 2 games, 7 in this past week. I expect last weeks’ numbers to stay right in that range going forward against a Packers defense that was just torched by Stefon Diggs and let Sam Bradford look like an elite QB Sunday night. I like Ebron this week for 6 receptions, 60 yards and a touchdown for 18 points.

3.  TE Jason Witten, Dallas Cowboys V.S. Chicago Bears $4,300

Old Mr. reliable. Witten’s targets greatly went down from the 14 that he saw in week 1. It was obvious week 2 that Dak Prescott was given a little more control of the offense. Here’s what I like; Dallas is still looking to see what they have in Prescott, The Bears are grasping at injury straw after injury straw as they just lost not only Jay Cutler, but also Nose Tackle Eddie Goldman, Adrian Amos and Bryce Callahan who both suffered concussions, and finally loosing Linebacker Lamarr Houston to a substantial left knee injury. All in all, unless Brian Hoyer plays his best game of his life, this defense could very well get picked apart. I like a lot of attention to be had on controlling the clock and keeping to short throws and testing the corners and linebackers often. I like Witten in this week for 6 receptions, 60 yards and a touchdown for 18 points.
