Knowing what we know about players that were drafted in 2016 today, how would the first round of the 2016 draft look. Spoiler, the top 10 did well and a lot of the picks are the same.

Round 1

Picks 1-16
1. Rams: Prospect not selected

New Pick: Carson Wentz, QB, North Dakota State
Original Pick: Jared Goff, QB, Cal
To kick-off the re-draft, the Rams stay with a QB at 1, but it's Carson Wentz this time who I always thought was better than Goff. Wentz has been special when he's been healthy and with Sean McVay the Rams offense could be that much better.

2. Eagles: Prospect not selected

New Pick: Dak Prescott, QB, Miss St.
Original Pick: Carson Wentz, QB, NDSU
With Carson Wentz, their original pick gone at no. 1, the Eagles grab Dak Prescott over real life no. 1, Jared Goff. The Eagles will be pretty happy that Prescott is still there for them considering he is a high quality QB that can lead the franchise for years to come. After losing out on their current guy, they still get a stud QB in Dak Prescott who was the rookie of the year in this class.

3. Chargers: Prospect not selected

Re-draft pick is same as original: Joey Bosa, DE, Ohio St.
Joey Bosa has been one of the best pass-rushers in the NFL since being drafted by the Chargers. In the re-draft, they easily stick with Bosa as he may be their best player and was the defensive rookie of the year in this class.

4. Cowboys: Prospect not selected

Re-draft pick is same as original: Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Ohio St.
The Cowboys start a streak as they too, stick with their original pick from 2016. Ezekiel Elliott has established himself as a top 5 NFL RB from the second he stepped onto the field. As a rookie he lead the NFL in rushing and has been a model of consistency ever since. Cowboys hit a home run with this pick.

5. Jaguars: Prospect not selected

New Pick: Michael Thomas, WR, Ohio St.
Original Pick: Jalen Ramsey, CB, FSU
This was a super tough situation because Jalen Ramsey has been considered one of the best, if not THE best corners in the NFL since being drafted, but we all know things didn't work out with him in Jacksonville. He wasn't happy and got traded to LA. If the re-draft, the Jags skip all the crap and take Michael Thomas who is coming off one of the best receiving seasons of all-time. Thomas will be the franchise cornerstone of the Jaguars and maybe he makes Blake Bortles end up working in Jacksonville.

6. Ravens: Prospect not selected

Re-draft pick is same as original: Ronnie Stanley, OT, Notre Dame
The third time in the top 6 where the team sticks with who they originally drafted. Ronnie Stanley was considered the second best tackle in the draft behind Laremy Tunsil going into the draft, but the Ravens took him first due to off the field issues with Tunsil. It worked out as Stanley has become arguably the best tackle in football and is an unbelievably good blindside protector for the most mobile QB in the NFL. What an amazing pick this was by Baltimore.

7. 49ers: Prospect not selected

New Pick: Chris Jones, DT, Miss St.
Original Pick: DeForest Buckner, DT, Oregon
I almost had the Niners take Buckner like they did in real life because he played so well for them, but the team traded him for a first rounder in 2020 to save cap and so I decided to go with another DT, one who has been better in Chris Jones. Jones didn't get hot right away, but after the slow start, he bursted onto the scene and had a season with over 15 sacks at DT. He is a monster in the run stuffing game and he can get after the QB. The Niners would be on cloud 9 if they had the chance to grab him in a re-draft.

8. Titans: Prospect not selected

New Pick: Derrick Henry, RB, Alabama
Original Pick: Jack Conklin, OT, Michigan State
This was another insanely tough choice to make on Jalen Ramsey, but I ultimately went with Henry here just because I know how much he means to the Titans offense. Jalen Ramsey would be an amazing pickup for this defense, but Derrick Henry was the only reason this team won games for the last 2 years, and they can't get him as late as they did in real life so they have to make sure they can secure him by grabbing him here at 8.

9. Bears: Prospect not selected

New Pick: Jalen Ramsey, CB, FSU
Original Pick: Leonard Floyd, OLB, Georgia
The Bears cannot believe their eyes when Jalen Ramsey is still there for them all the way at pick 9. They throw any other needs out the window and run the card in for Ramsey who has been a top 3 corner since entering the NFL. We all know how good the Bears defense has become recently, but imagine it with Jalen Ramsey added to the already stacked roster. Steal of the re-draft.

10. Giants: Prospect not selected

New Pick: Laremy Tunsil, OT, Ole Miss
Original Pick: Eli Apple, CB, Ohio St.
The Giants could go many different directions here in the re-draft, but they go with the one that would fill a need that wouldn't then need to be addressed again for LT. The Giants have needed a stud blindside protector forever and Tunsil has quickly blossomed into a top 5 tackle in the NFL. This is amazing value here and it shows how stacked of a draft class this really was.

11. Buccaneers: Prospect not selected

New Pick: Jack Conklin, OT, Michigan State
Original Pick: Vernon Hargreaves, CB, Florida
Another team that could go anywhere with their pick, but again, if they address tackle with a good one, it's a position they won't have to think about for years and that's why the Bucs grab Conklin who has become a top tier tackle in football. With a tackle spot solidified for seasons to come, the Bucs can focus on other positions to try and bring the quality roster to the postseason.

12. Saints: Prospect not selected

New Pick: Tyreek Hill, WR, West Alabama
Original Pick: Sheldon Rankins, DT, Louisville
The Saints have no choice but to take the blazing deep threat Hill here as Drew Brees' no. 1 target Michael Thomas went off the board at 5 and the Saints will no longer be able to get him in the second round like they did in real life or even here at 12. Hill is definitely not a bad consolation as he has become one of the best WR's in the NFL and could do wonders with the accurate deep ball throwing Drew Brees.

13. Dolphins: Prospect not selected

New Pick: DeForest Buckner, DT, Oregon
Original Pick: Laremy Tunsil, OT, Ole Miss
With Tunsil gone in the re-draft, the Fins' are forced to look elsewhere, and it doesn't take them long to settle on the freak athlete that is DeForest Buckner. The Dolphins have needed a stud pass rusher to pair with Cameron Wake (who was still on the team then) and Buckner slots right in and will wreak havoc in Miami against AFC East QB's for years to come.

14. Raiders: Prospect not selected

New Pick: Xavien Howard, CB, Baylor
Original Pick: Karl Joseph, S, West Virginia
The Raiders have been searching for their shutdown CB1 for years on end, but in the re-draft, they find their guy and avoid searching for even longer. Howard has been a beast since being drafted and even lead the NFL in INTs one season. He is one of the best corners in the NFL and the Raiders would be overjoyed to add him in the re-draft.

15. Browns: Prospect not selected

New Pick: Yannick Ngakoue, DE, Maryland
Original Pick: Corey Coleman, WR, Baylor
The Browns could go with so many different players in this slot, but I decided to give them probably the best player left on the board. Ngakoue was originally drafted in the 3rd round but that hasn't stopped him from producing from day 1. QB's can't seem to escape this man and he would be a cornerstone of a poor Cleveland defense for years to come.

16. Lions: Prospect not selected

New Pick: Jaylon Smith, LB, Notre Dame
Original Pick: Taylor Decker, OT, Ohio St.
The Lions just are starved for superstar talent in general and so bringing in Jaylon Smith here in the re-draft makes too much sense. Considered a top 15 talent going into the draft, Smith tore his ACL in the pre-draft process which hit his draft stock hard and he fell to the second round, after recovering, Smith has become one of the best LB's in football. Detroit needs stars wherever they can get them and Smith can lead this defense and be their cornerstone piece.
