Pre-FA Bowl mock draft. Took into account team needs and general chatter from what I've read.

Round 1

Picks 1-16
1. Browns: Sam Darnold, Quarterback, USC

The Browns need a QB in the worst way and word is that John Dorsey is a big Darnold fan. Plus they can avoid a possible Eli type fiasco with Rosen.

2. Giants: Josh Rosen, Quarterback, UCLA

I have a hard time believing Dave Gettleman will pass on a top QB here at the top. They could draft Barkley here, but the RB class is very deep.

3. Colts: Saquon Barkley, Running Back, Penn State

Ownership and some in the front office have raved about Barkley and the possibility of pairing him with Andrew Luck. I would place Bradley Chubb and the possibility of trading back and drafting a lineman above Barkley, but signs point to RB here.

4. Browns: Minkah Fitzpatrick, Safety, Alabama

The Browns best case scenario would be Barkley at 4, but Fitzpatrick is one hell of a consolation prize. They'd be able to pair him with Jabrill Peppers in the secondary.

5. Broncos: Josh Allen, Quarterback, Wyoming

Broncos are a decent QB away from being a SB contender again, hopefully Allen can be that guy.

6. Jets: Connor Williams, Offensive Tackle, Texas

The Jets need a QB badly, but if Allen isn't available, I really can't see them going for Baker Mayfield at 6. So they solidify the offensive line for now.

7. Buccaneers: Bradley Chubb, Defensive End, N.C. State

The Bucs ranked dead last in sacks this year, and they'd be thrilled to get the best pass rusher in the draft.

8. Bears: Calvin Ridley, Wide Receiver, Alabama

Popular mock pick and it makes sense. Give Trubisky a true #1 weapon. I think the hiring of Matt Nagy from KC just solidifies they'll go offense here at 8.

9. 49ers: Denzel Ward, Cornerback, Ohio State

The Niners have a good young corner in Akhello Witherspoon, but they could use another to pair with him.

10. Raiders: Roquan Smith, Outside Linebacker, Georgia

Burst onto the scene in a big way in the CFB playoff, and MLB is one of the bigger weakspots on the Raiders roster.

11. Dolphins: Rashaan Evans, Inside Linebacker, Alabama

The Dolphins linebacker corps ranked among the worst in the league according to PFF, and Evans can help lead that defense. Although it would be tough for them to miss out on Roquan Smith by one pick.

12. Bengals: Quenton Nelson, Offensive Guard, Notre Dame

Last year the Bengals should've taken Ryan Ramczyk (who ranked 8th among tackles in 2017-18 according to PFF) after they lost 3 lineman in FA, in stead they took John Ross. They shouldn't pass on one this time around, especially if Nelson falls.

13. Redskins: Derwin James, Safety, Florida State

Even with the talk of letting Cousins walk, as of now he's still on the roster, so they help out their defense with one of the top DBs on the board.

14. Packers: Joshua Jackson, Cornerback, Iowa

Mike Pettine loves athletic corners, and that's Jackson. He's with Ward as 1 and 1A corners in this draft, and I would be pumped as a Packer fan if they got Jackson at 14. Jackson led the FBS in INTs, deflections, and forced incompletions this season.

15. Cardinals: Baker Mayfield, Quarterback, Oklahoma

Palmer is gone and now the Cardinals need a QB. Mayfield is the big wild-card in this draft, and I think he could be great with the weapons they have in Arizona.

16. Ravens: Courtland Sutton, Wide Receiver, SMU

The Ravens offense was pretty bad this year and a big reason is their lack of a #1 receiver. Perriman can't get on the field, and can you really trust Mike Wallace?
