2026 Baltimore Ravens Offense:
The Ravens were one of the betting favorites to win the Super Bowl last year, but they didn’t even qualify for the playoffs. Everything fell apart for them in Weeks 3 and 4 of the regular season when they suffered a barrage of injuries to their defense. Their offense was also hit by a key injury, with Lamar Jackson hurting his hamstring. Jackson returned to action about a month later, but was never 100 percent. He continued to play, but certainly was not at his best.

Jackson will be healthy now, but his supporting cast is diminished. Baltimore suffered some huge losses during the offseason. The greatest departure was Tyler Linderbaum, who will now be playing for the Raiders. Linderbaum is one of the best centers in the NFL, so he’ll sorely be missed. Danny Pinter, signed away from the Colts, will replace Linderbaum in what appears to be a massive downgrade. Pinter struggled in Indianapolis last year. He’ll be flanked by two new guards: John Simpson and Vega Ioane. Simpson also performed poorly last year, doing so for the Jets, but he’s had better seasons before that. Ioane, conversely, is a plug-and-play rookie who has the potential for a great season.

Jackson would be in serious trouble if his tackles had as many question marks as the interior of the offensive line. Thankfully for Jackson, that is not the case. Ronnie Stanley is one of the best left tackles in the NFL, though he has an extensive injury history. His bookend is 2024 second-round pick Roger Rosengarten, who is coming off an excellent sophomore campaign.

The decline in blocking will also adversely affect Derrick Henry. The interior offensive line isn’t the only factor at play in this regard. Fullback Patrick Ricard, considered one of the top run-blocking players at his position, signed with the Giants. His replacement will be Lucas Scott, a 2025 UDFA who has never taken an NFL snap. Henry has praised Ricard on many occasions, so with Ricard’s departure and Henry’s age (32), it’s safe to say that the future Hall of Famer will regress.

Some other key losses for the Ravens include Isaiah Likely and Charlie Kolar, two radically different tight ends. Likely is a highly athletic player, while Kolar is a terrific blocker. Likely and Kolar are now with the Giants and Chargers, respectively. Mark Andrews is still there, and while he could rebound from a dismal season, age (31 in September) is also an issue with him.

Jackson’s only viable target could be the electric Zay Flowers. While Flowers is a dynamic player, Jackson needs more at his disposal. Ja’Kobi Lane and Elijah Sarratt, two rookies chosen in the third and fourth rounds, respectively, could emerge. If not, Jackson will be looking at the likes of Rashod Bateman and Dez Walker as secondary downfield options, which sounds rather bleak.



2026 Baltimore Ravens Defense:
At one point during the 2025 season, the Ravens looked like they had the worst defense in the NFL. They couldn’t stop a plastic bag blowing in the wind during October. This is because their defense was so ravaged by injury. Baltimore eventually improved on this side of the ball, but changes still needed to be made. One key switch occurred with the head coaching change. John Harbaugh was fired and replaced by defensive guru Jesse Minter, who coached the Chargers up last year to being the No. 2 EPA defense in the NFL.

New players had to be added as well, particularly to the pass rush, which was just mediocre last year. The Ravens attempted to trade for Maxx Crosby, but after the Raider edge rusher failed his physical, Baltimore signed Trey Hendrickson away from the Bengals. Hendrickson is a terrific pass rusher who could be in play for Defensive Player of the Year in his situation. No one on the Ravens logged more than five sacks last year, so Hendrickson can easily exceed that mark, as could second-round rookie Zion Young. The Missouri product has some off-the-field issues, but has the physical talent to be a pass-rushing threat in the NFL. He’ll have to unseat Tavius Robinson, who recorded 4.5 sacks in 2025.

It’ll greatly help the pass rush if Nnamdi Madubuike can return from injury. Madubuike, one of the best defensive linemen in the NFL, played just two games last year because of a career-threatening neck injury. Doctors reportedly believe Madubuike can play in 2026, but it’s unclear when he’ll be available, or how effective he’ll be. If Madubuike can resume game action, he’ll start alongside monstrous run-stuffer Travis Jones and Calais Campbell. Jones led the Ravens with five sacks last year, while Campbell is a 40-year-old who continued to perform well for the Cardinals last year.

Another defender whose playing time is in question is linebacker Teddye Buchanan, who suffered a frightening non-contact knee injury in December. Buchanan was solid in run support as a fourth-round rookie last year. He’s reportedly ahead of schedule, so he might be able to return for the season opener and be a quality partner for the elite Roquan Smith once again.

It’s worth noting that All-Pro safety Kyle Hamilton can also play linebacker, but he may be forced to stick to safety in the wake of Ar’Darius Washington’s departure. Washington, an excellent safety, is another ex-Baltimore player who followed Harbaugh to the Giants. The Ravens still look to be great at safety, however, with Hamilton and Malaki Starks returning as the starters. Hamilton is one of the best defensive players in the NFL, while Starks performed well as a rookie last season.

Cornerback remains unchanged, with Chidobe Awuzie, Nate Wiggins, and Marlon Humphrey returning as the three prominent players at the position. Humphrey is coming off a down year, but has what it takes to rebound. There’s a slight concern with his age (30), as is the case with Awuzie (31). However, Awuzie was solid last year and showed no signs of regression. Wiggins, conversely, is entering his third season and has loads of potential.



2026 Baltimore Ravens Schedule and Intangibles:
John Harbaugh had done a terrific job of maintaining a dominant home-field advantage during his tenure as Baltimore’s head coach. The Ravens were an outstanding 107-48 as hosts since 2008.

Justin Tucker was once the best kicker in the NFL, but he struggled recently and then got into trouble via Deshaun Watson-type shenanigans. Tucker is gone now, and was replaced by sixth-rounder Tyler Loop. It’s safe to say Tucker wasn’t missed for the most part, as Loop was 30-of-34. However, he hit just 1-of-4 from 50-plus.

Former fourth-round pick Jordan Stout left via free agency, so the Ravens have a new punter. That would be sixth-round rookie Ryan Eckley.

The Ravens have the luxury of battling the NFC South this season, so the schedule is quite manageable. There are still some tough games against the Bills, Jaguars, Chargers, and Texans.

2026 Baltimore Ravens Analysis: John Harbaugh has been a great coach for a long time, but sometimes coaching changes are necessary. Moving to Jesse Minter could be the spark the Ravens need. However, with some key losses and a few major holes on offense, the Ravens may be stuck losing in the second round of the playoffs once again with Jackson at the helm.

NFL Draft Team Grade: A- Grade

Goals Entering the 2026 NFL Draft: The Ravens already needed another weapon for Lamar Jackson before losing Isaiah Likely to free agency, so they could add a receiver and a tight end with some of their early picks. The Ravens also need to rebuild their offensive line after losing some players on the blocking unit recently. Some pieces should be added to the defense as well, and don’t forget that a successor for Derrick Henry should be acquired.

2026 NFL Draft Accomplishments: The Ravens are known as a team that always seems to land great values throughout the draft. This year was no exception, as Baltimore somehow snagged Zion Young off the board at No. 45 even though he was seen as someone who could easily be chosen in the 20s. This was after the Ravens took care of the other side of the line of scrimmage by obtaining the best guard in the class at No. 14. Vega Ioane is a better prospect than Tyler Booker, who went 12th last year. He’ll provide a huge boost for Lamar Jackson.

Three of Baltimore’s next five picks scored a B+ grade or better. This includes fourth-round receiver Elijah Sarratt, who was projected by some to be chosen in the second round. He was a better value than Ja’Kobi Lane in the third, which was a rare mishap for Baltimore’s front office.

The Ravens had a strong third day. Following the Sarratt pick, they landed some quality values in Chandler Rivers and Josh Cuevas, who could remind some of Mark Andrews. Rayshaun Benny was then a steal at No. 250.

I can’t see why the Ravens shouldn’t be graded highly. They messed up a couple of times, but this was yet another draft full of great values for them.



NFL Draft Individual Grades:


14. Vega Ioane, G, Penn State – A Grade

The Ravens, as usual, were able to get a great value. Vega Ioane may not be considered as such because he was projected to go in this area, but only because of his position. This is a poor draft class, so you can throw positional value out the window. There’s a good chance Ioane will be considered a top-five player from this class, and he’ll provide the Ravens with a big upgrade at guard. Baltimore, unlike Los Angeles, understood that it needed to use this pick to help it win a Super Bowl.


45. Zion Young, DE, Missouri – A+ Grade

Here’s the player the Lions should have drafted. The Ravens, instead, land yet another steal, which is what they do every single year because other teams don’t know how to draft. Young is extremely talented and easily could have gone in the first round. He has character concerns, but nothing nearly as egregious as Makai Lemon.


80. Ja’Kobi Lane, WR, USC – C+ Grade

I had Ja’Kobi Lane going in the middle of Day 3, so this is an unusual reach for the Ravens. They’re addressing a big need, however, as the Ravens have needed help at receiver outside of Zay Flowers for a while. Lane could be a big end zone threat in the NFL.


115. Elijah Sarratt, WR, Indiana – A+ Grade

This is another steal for the Ravens. I had Elijah Sarratt going at the end of Round 2. The Ravens needed to improve their receiver group outside of Zay Flowers, and Sarratt could end up being a quality No. 2 wideout for Lamar Jackson.


133. Matt Hibner, TE, SMU – B- Grade

Matt Hibner is a quality receiving threat with the potential to be a very good blocker. The Ravens needed another tight end after losing two this offseason, and I thought he could go around this range, though I’m not a fan of his age (24).


162. Chandler Rivers, CB, Duke – B+ Grade

Chandler Rivers is an instinctive and tough corneback, but is short. He can play in the slot and perhaps eventually be an upgrade for the Ravens, who needed to address their secondary. I had Rivers going a bit earlier than this.


173. Josh Cuevas, TE, Alabama – A- Grade

Josh Cuevas flashed some ability as a receiver, though he wasn’t overly productive at Alabama. With two tight ends departing this offseason, the Ravens needed to address this area on multiple occasions. I had Cuevas going to the Ravens at No. 154, so I have to like this pick.


174. Adam Randall, RB, Clemson – B Grade

Adam Randall has good speed for a big back, but he drops the ball often and struggles in pass protection. With Derrick Henry close to aging out of the NFL, the Ravens needed to find a potential successor.


211. Ryan Eckley, P, Michigan State – C Grade

Punters grow on trees, so I’m never going to grade one favorably unless they can consistently boot the ball 80 yards.


250. Rayshaun Benny, DT, Michigan – A Grade

Rayshaun Benny is a great run defender, but needs to develop some pass-rushing moves. I had him going in the fifth round, so I’m a fan of this pick. I can’t say I’m surprised that the Ravens landed another steal.


253. Evan Beernsten, G, Northwestern – C Grade

Evan Beernsten was a good pass protector at Northwestern, but he’s not lengthy, and he’s also a very old prospect after spending seven years in school. There’s not much upside here.

17. NFL Team Logo for Commanders Washington Commanders: Ryan Coleman-Williams, WR, Alabama

Washington needs more playmakers for Jayden Daniels.

In 2025, Coleman-Williams had 49 catches for 689 yards and four scores. He has had some problems with dropped passes in 2025. Coleman-Williams (6-0, 175) was very impressive in his freshman season for the Crimson Tide, catching 48 passes for 865 yards and eight touchdowns. He could stand to add some weight for the NFL, but he is a dynamic playmaker and capable of changing the game on any play.


18. NFL Team Logo for Jaguars Jacksonville Jaguars: Charlie Becker, WR, Indiana

The Jaguars could use more receiving weapons for Liam Coen’s offense.

Becker flashed big-play ability with the Hoosiers in 2025 and showed an ability to stretch defenses downfield. In 2025, he had 30 catches for 614 yards with five scores. Becker illustrated some serious speed with his average of 20.5 yards per reception. To go along with speed, Becker has size and length at 6-foot-4, 204 pounds. He is reminiscent of Alec Pierce at Cincinnati.


19. NFL Team Logo for Cowboys Dallas Cowboys: Vicari Swain, CB, South Carolina

The Cowboys add a No.1 cornerback to continue their defensive overhaul.

South Carolina has had a number of good cornerbacks come through the program in recent years, and Swain will keep that tradition alive in 2027. In 2025, Swain totaled 28 tackles with one sack, two interceptions, and five passes broken up. Swain (6-1, 190) has a good skill set with size, speed, and athleticism.

20. NFL Team Logo for Vikings Minnesota Vikings: Trevor Lauck, OT, Iowa

With Ryan Kelly retiring, Minnesota could use a long-term center.

Pieper (6-5, 314) started at right guard in 2025 and formed an excellent interior offensive line with veteran center Logan Jones. With Jones in the NFL, Pieper is being projected to move to center by NFL teams’ advance scouts. Pieper has good size, strength, and athleticism. He could be a candidate to start at guard or center as a pro.


21. NFL Team Logo for Buccaneers Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Will Echoles, DT, Ole Miss

The Bucs have contract decisions looming for Vita Vea and Calijah Kancey. Re-signing both could be very expensive. Thus, they could consider adding more youth on the interior of the defensive line.

Echoles was a disruptive force for the Rebels in 2025 and made a lot of big plays for them at the point of attack. The 6-foot-3, 310-pounder showed run defense and pass rush ability as he totaled 68 tackles with five sacks and five passes batted. Echoles has quickness, athleticism, and strength.


22. NFL Team Logo for Broncos Denver Broncos: Sammy Brown, LB, Clemson

The Broncos could use more young talent at linebacker.

In 2025, Brown had 106 tackles with five sacks, one forced fumble, an interception, and five passes broken up. Brown impressed in 2024 with 80 tackles, five sacks, and three passes broken up. The 6-foot-2, 235-pounder has good instincts.

23. NFL Team Logo for Jets New York Jets: Jelani McDonald, S, Texas

New York grabs a long-term safety and difference-maker for the back end.

McDonald had a strong 2025 season for the Longhorns, showing an ability to make plays as a run defender and in pass coverage. He totaled 80 tackles with three interceptions and three passes defended. McDonald (6-2, 195) has good size and is fast.

24. NFL Team Logo for Seahawks Seattle Seahawks: Will Heldt, DE, Clemson

The Seahawks could consider adding more young edge rush talent.

In 2025, Heldt had 47 tackles with 7.5 sacks and one forced fumble. Heldt has played well for Clemson, showing speed and athleticism off the edge. Heldt played well for Purdue in 2024, recording 56 tackles with five sacks. The 6-foot-6, 260-pounder has good size, a surprising burst, and plays really hard. Heldt has upside, and he could be a nice value pick in the first or second round.


25. NFL Team Logo for Texans Houston Texans: A’Mauri Washington, DT, Oregon

The Texans grab an interior defender to pair with Kayden McDonald.

In 2025, Washington had 31 tackles with 1.5 sacks and seven passes broken up. Washington (6-3, 330) is known to have an excellent skill set and upside. He is very strong, physical, and has surprising speed and athleticism for a heavy defensive tackle. Last year, Washington was a rotational backup behind Derrick Harmon. In 2024, Washington totaled 10 tackles and two passes broken up.


26. NFL Team Logo for Ravens Baltimore Ravens: Trey’Dez Green, TE, LSU

The Ravens could use a young mismatch tight end.

Green flashed dynamic receiving ability as a sophomore, hauling in 33 passes for 433 yards with seven touchdowns. The 6-foot-6, 238-pound Green has surprising speed and fluid athleticism for a big-bodied tight end. He could be a mismatch weapon in the NFL. As a freshman backing up Mason Taylor, Green caught four touchdowns with 101 yards on 13 catches.

27. NFL Team Logo for Lions Detroit Lions: Ellis Robinson IV, CB, Georgia

With Terrion Arnold turning into a bust, the Lions badly need more cornerback talent.

In 2025, Robinson had a breakout season for the Bulldogs, playing as an effective cover corner. Robinson totaled four interceptions, seven passes broken up, and 20 tackles. Robinson (6-0, 180) could stand to fill out his frame to help him battle pro receivers.

28. NFL Team Logo for Bills Buffalo Bills: Tae Johnson, S, Notre Dame

C.J. Gardner-Johnson is a locker room cancer and is not a long-term starter. He is a difference-maker and a high-character individual.

Johnson (6-1, 197) had a breakout season in 2025 for the Fighting Irish. Johnson was a playmaker showing dynamic ball skills and instincts. He totaled 48 tackles with four interceptions and three passes defended. Johnson was just scratching the surface, and he could become a dynamic safety prospect. Sources say Johnson has worked really hard and is a good character presence for his team.


29. NFL Team Logo for Eagles Philadelphia Eagles: David Stone, DT, Oklahoma

It will be interesting to see how things play out with some of the veterans nearing the end of their contracts in Philadelphia. Here is more interior defensive line youth.

The 6-foot-3, 310-pound Stone flashed some next-level ability in 2025. He was a disruptive run defender with 43 tackles on the season. Stone had 1.5 sacks as a sophomore. Improving as a pass rusher would help him to rise.

30. NFL Team Logo for Bengals Cincinnati Bengals: Trevor Lauck, OT, Iowa

The Bengals grab a replacement for Orlando Brown.

Lauck (6-5, 314) started at left tackle for the Hawkeyes in 2025 and had an excellent season. He was a tough run blocker and reliable in pass protection. The NFL advance scouts gave him a good grade heading into the 2026 season. It was Lauck’s first-year as a starter, so he could be even better in 2026 after getting a year of experience.

31. NFL Team Logo for Chargers Los Angeles Chargers: Ahmad Moten Sr., DT, Miami

The Chargers could use some interior defensive line youth next to Akheem Mesidor.

Moten was a key contributor and an interior pass rusher on the tough Hurricanes defense that carried them to the National Championship. In 2025, Moten totaled 4.5 sacks with 31 tackles. Moten (6-3, 325) has a good skill set with upside to develop.


32. NFL Team Logo for Browns Cleveland Browns: Jordan Seaton, OT, LSU

The Browns grab more offensive line youth to protect their next quarterback.

The 6-foot-5, 307-pounder has a good skill set with size, quickness, strength, and athleticism. He was impressive as the starting left tackle at Colorado for two seasons. It will be interesting to see how Seaton handles better competition in 2026.

1. NFL Team Logo for Cardinals Arizona Cardinals: Arch Manning , QB, Texas

The Cardinals add their future starter.

In 2025, Manning completed 61 percent of his passes for 3,163 yards with 26 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He had 10 rushing touchdowns. Manning flashed his excellent skill set in relief work for Quinn Ewers in 2024. Manning has completed 68 percent of his passes for 939 yards with nine touchdowns and two interceptions. He also has two rushing touchdowns. The 6-foot-4, 225-pounder has a strong arm and is athletic with running ability for the NFL.


2. NFL Team Logo for Raiders Las Vegas Raiders: Trevor Goosby, OT, Texas

Las Vegas grab offensive line help to protect Fernando Mendoza.

Goosby (6-7, 325) took over as the starting left tackle for Texas in 2025 and had an impressive debut for the Longhorns. Goosby has good size, athleticism, strength, quickness, and upside to get better as he gains experience.


3. NFL Team Logo for Dolphins Miami Dolphins: Jeremiah Smith , WR, Ohio State

I think the Dolphins landed a potential steal in Chris Bell, but even if Bell pans out, they could use more receiver talent for Malik Willis.

In 2025, Smith caught 87 passes for 1,243 yards and 12 touchdowns. Smith (6-3, 215) took college football by storm as a freshman, and he dominated for the Buckeyes. In his debut season, Smith caught 76 passes for 1,315 yards and 15 touchdowns. He showed size, speed, athleticism, and natural feel in a tremendous freshman year, helping Ohio State win a National Championship.



4. NFL Team Logo for Browns Cleveland Browns: Dante Moore, QB, Oregon

The Browns grab a future starter at quarterback.

Moore has been a dynamic point-producer for the Ducks in 2025, making plays with his arm and legs. In 2025, Moore has completed 73 percent of his passes for 3,280 yards with 28 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Moore (6-3, 203) is a dangerous quarterback who is tough to defend. He has shown impressive arm talent and feel as a passer. Moore throws some beautiful deep balls and shows impressive composure and poise for a young player.

5. NFL Team Logo for Jets New York Jets: Leonard Moore, CB, Notre Dame

The Jets grab their replacement for Sauce Gardner.

Moore dealt with injuries but played really well in 2025. He had 31 tackles with five interceptions and seven passes defended. With Benjamin Morrison hurt, Moore was phenomenal in 2024, helping the Fighting Irish reach the National Championship. He totaled 48 tackles, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, and 11 passes broken up as a freshman. Moore (6-2, 195) has an excellent skill set with size, speed, and athleticism, and is a natural football player.

6. NFL Team Logo for Giants New York Giants: Kewan Lacy , RB, Ole Miss

New York loved Jeremiyah Love and would have drafted him. Next April, the Giants could grab an elite runner to help Jaxson Dart.

Lacy (5-10, 205) was a tough runner for the Rebels in 2025. He showed dangerous quickness and shifty running ability while helping the Rebels make a run in the playoffs. Lacy averaged 5.1 yards per carry for 1,567 yards with 24 touchdowns. He also caught 29 passes for 177 yards.



7. NFL Team Logo for Falcons Atlanta Falcons: Cam Coleman , WR, Auburn

The Falcons could use more receiver weapons to go with Drake London.

Coleman entered the transfer portal and will play with Texas in 2026. In 2025, Coleman had 56 catches for 708 yards and five touchdowns with Auburn. While other freshman receivers got more attention, Coleman (6-3, 197) flashed tremendous ability with size, speed, and athleticism. He caught 37 passes for 598 yards and eight touchdowns in his debut. If Auburn can give Coleman more consistent quarterback play, he could explode as a sophomore or junior.



8. NFL Team Logo for Panthers Carolina Panthers: Dylan Stewart , DE, South Carolina

If Nic Scourton doesn’t take a big step forward in 2026, Carolina could look to add a pass rusher across from Jaelen Phillips.

In 2025, Stewart had 33 tackles, 4.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and two passes defended. The 6-foot-5, 245-pound Stewart was superb for the Gamecocks in 2024. As a freshman, he was an immediate impact player, totaling 6.5 sacks with three forced fumbles, one pass batted, and 23 tackles. Stewart has a lot of potential to develop.



9. NFL Team Logo for 49ers San Francisco 49ers: Yhonzae Pierre, DE, Alabama

The 49ers could use more youth at edge rusher.

The 6-foot-3, 248-pound Pierre has been a tough defender for the Crimson Tide in 2025. He has been a dangerous edge rusher with speed and physicality to push through blocks. In 2025, Pierre had 52 tackles with eight sacks, three forced fumbles, and one pass batted. He is an ascending player with a ton of upside.


10. NFL Team Logo for Bears Chicago Bears: Colin Simmons, OLB/DE, Texas

The Bears could consider adding more defensive front seven talent.

In 2025, Simmons had 43 tackles, 12 sacks, three forced fumbles, and two passes broken up. In 2024, Simmons had an excellent debut for Texas and showed serious pass-rush ability with nine sacks. He also had three forced fumbles, 48 tackles, two passes defended, and one interception. Simmons (6-3, 245) has upside and could be even better after gaining experience.


11. NFL Team Logo for Titans Tennessee Titans: Jadan Baugh, RB, Florida

The Titans grab a running back upgrade to help Cam Ward.

In 2025, Baugh averaged 5.3 yards per carry for 1,170 yards with eight touchdowns. He has 33 receptions for 210 yards and two touchdowns. The 6-foot, 228-pound Baugh flashed serious running ability for the Gators in 2024 as a freshman. While other backs got more carries, Baugh showed a dangerous burst and power to get yards after contact. Baugh averaged 5.1 yards per carry for 673 yards and seven touchdowns. He had four catches for 33 yards and a score. Baugh could explode if the Gators make him their feature back.

12. NFL Team Logo for Saints New Orleans Saints: Ashton Hampton, CB, Clemson

The Saints could use a true No. 1 corner for their defense.

Hampton (6-3, 204) is a big cover corner that is long and physical. In 2025, he totaled 45 tackles with eight passes broken up and an interception. He had 27 tackles with two interceptions and five breakups as a freshman. His speed and ability to run with speed receivers are a point of emphasis for his evaluation as a junior.

13. NFL Team Logo for Steelers Pittsburgh Steelers: John Mateer, QB, Oklahoma

Pittsburgh has Aaron Rodgers for 2026, but needs a long-term starter. They could have a shot at one in the 2027 NFL Draft, but they will need a deep class of quarterbacks to emerge.

Mateer completed 62 percent of his passes for 2,885 yards with 14 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, and eight rushing touchdowns. For the NFL, Mateer looks like a starter who could be a very dangerous signal-caller. Mateer (6-1, 224) is an accurate passer with excellent ball placement overall. He has a few throws get away from him, but Mateer has impressive precision as a passer. Mateer is very mobile in the pocket and can hurt defenses on the ground. As a passer, Mateer is similar to Baker Mayfield, but Mateer is a better athlete and more dangerous with his feet.

Mateer played well for Washington State in 2024 and impressed in his first year as a starter. He completed 65 percent of his passes for 3,139 yards with 29 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Mateer has some mobility and is a gritty competitor. Some team sources have compared Mateer to former Sooners quarterback Baker Mayfield. Mateer (6-1, 224) could be a high riser during the 2025 season.


14. NFL Team Logo for Jets New York Jets: LaNorris Sellers, QB, South Carolina

The Jets grab their quarterback of the future.

Sellers completed 61 percent of his passes for 2,437 yards with 13 passing touchdowns, eight interceptions, five rushing, and some yardage on the ground. He has been inconsistent, with some flashes of amazing passes and then missing some completions that he must complete for the NFL. In terms of his development as a football player, he probably should go back to college in 2026, but most players don’t think that way.

Sellers (6-3, 242) has a big-time skill set and could be a special quarterback. In 2024, Sellers completed 66 percent of his passes for 2,534 yards with 18 touchdown passes, seven interceptions, and seven rushing touchdowns. Sellers is a true dual-threat quarterback with dangerous running ability and impressive arm talent. With a cannon for an arm, Sellers can push the ball to all levels of the field with ease. His mobility, athleticism, escapability, and creativity to ad lib his team into a big play are very desirable to pro teams.

15. NFL Team Logo for Chiefs Kansas City Chiefs: K.J. Bolden, S, Georgia

The Chiefs grab a difference-maker for the back end.

In 2025, Bolden had 76 tackles with two interceptions and five passes broken up. In a talented secondary, Bolden (6-0, 185) was able to earn playing time as a freshman and had an excellent debut next to Malaki Starks. Bolden totaled 59 tackles with one interception, one pass broken up, one sack, and one forced fumble. After gaining some experience, Bolden could be even better. He could stand to add some weight to his frame for tackling in the NFL.


16. NFL Team Logo for Patriots New England Patriots: Nick Marsh , WR, Michigan State

The Patriots add a weapon for Drake Maye.

Marsh was highly targeted in the transfer portal, and Indiana won the bidding war to add him to their 2026 roster. In 2025, Marsh had 59 receptions for 662 yards with six touchdowns at Michigan State. The 6-foot-3, 203-pound Marsh is very talented and has a ton of upside. In 2024, he caught 41 passes for 649 yards and three touchdowns. He could take off in 2025 or 2026.

The preseason watch lists are shared with the teams that are part of National Football Scouting or the Blesto scouting service. Looking at the 2026 preseason watch list, there is a large group of inside linebackers that have draftable grades. However, there are two linebackers that have created a buzz with team sources that were not included on the preseason watch list. They are Notre Dame’s Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa and Stanford’s Matt Rose.

 

Notre Dame is loaded with NFL linebacker talent, and that led to Viliamu-Asa being a rotational contributor as an underclassman. However, team sources say that Viliamu-Asa is extremely talented with an excellent skill set for the NFL. At 6-foot-3, 235 pounds, Viliamu-Asa has excellent size and sources say he is fast and athletic. In 2025, Viliamu-Asa totaled 48 tackles with three sacks, an interception, and two passes broken up while being a part-time player. If Viliamu-Asa is featured, he could be a top linebacker prospect for the 2027 or 2028 NFL Draft.

Rose (6-2, 225) is undersized, but he has incredible instincts, and some team sources say that Rose reminds them of Zach Thomas. In 2026, Rose had 106 tackles with three sacks, one forced fumble, and three passes broken up. Like Thomas, Rose is undersized, but he is a natural football player who is smart, physical, and relentless.

 

The preseason grades are not set in stone, and scouts will forget them soon. In the 2018 preseason, Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray and Alabama defensive tackle Quinnen Williams were not on the preseason watch list. Yet Murray became the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, and Williams went third a few months later. There have been other late-round projections, such as Joe Burrow, who ended up skyrocketing during the season. Other players had high preseason projections but were mid- or late-round picks months later. Thus, the value is more of a watch list than a reflection of players’ abilities.

2026 Pittsburgh Steelers Offense:
For months, it was unclear if Aaron Rodgers would return to the Steelers. The organization fired Mike Tomlin and replaced him with the lesser Mike McCarthy, whom Rodgers disliked during the latter stages of their time together in Green Bay. Pittsburgh seemed to have a backup plan for Rodgers and even used a third-round pick on quarterback Drew Allar, but Rodgers eventually made his decision to play for Pittsburgh again, citing that this would be his final season in the NFL.

Rodgers is obviously not the Hall of Fame-caliber quarterback he once was in Green Bay. Though he had some bright moments last year, particularly in an upset win at Detroit, he’s still a shell of his former self. Rodgers, turning 43 during the 2026 NFL season, is likely to decline further. There were some ugly moments last season when Rodgers intentionally threw passes into the ground because he didn’t want to get hit. Thus, the Steelers had to improve their offensive line. Instead, they will be worse in that regard because they lost their top blocker, Isaac Seumalo, to free agency. Seumalo’s departure will hurt because he’ll be replaced either by the anemic Spencer Anderson, third-round rookie Gennings Dunker, or Broderick Jones, who will be playing out of position. Fortunately for the Steelers, their other interior blockers are capable players. Zach Frazier has emerged as one of the better centers in the NFL, while Mason McCormick is a viable starter.

The tackle situation isn’t as promising. The Steelers planned on drafting Makai Lemon with their first-round pick, but the Eagles sniped them, forcing them into a backup plan, which was Max Iheanachor. The Iowa State product is a bit of a project, so he’s not expected to perform well as a rookie. Troy Fautanu, the team’s left tackle, has not performed very well in his career thus far, but hasn’t been a liability when healthy either. He’s still very young, so there’s a chance he could make a big leap in the near future.

The Steelers will at least be better at receiver. DK Metcalf was a dynamic threat for them last year, but he was the only viable player at the position. The situation was so dire that Rodgers had to utilize running back Kenneth Gainwell as his No. 2 receiver. Things will be different this season in the wake of the Michael Pittman Jr. trade. Pittman is a solid possession receiver, so he’ll complement Metcalf well. The Steelers also used a second-round pick on Germie Bernard, who will play in the slot. Meanwhile, tight ends Pat Freiermuth and Darnell Washington figure to be more productive with Jonnu Smith gone.

Gainwell signed with the Buccaneers in free agency, so the Steelers countered by signing Rico Dowdle away from the Panthers. Dowdle has performed well with the Cowboys and Panthers in the past, so he figures to be an upgrade over Jaylen Warren, a mediocre-at-best runner.



2026 Pittsburgh Steelers Defense:
Although Mike McCarthy has proven to be an abysmal head coach, he’ll at least be able to get more out of the offense because of his background with that side of the ball. However, the Steelers will be trading in their defensive prowess in the wake of Mike Tomlin’s departure. With Tomlin gone, it’s reasonable to suspect a decline from Pittsburgh’s defensive unit.

Another reason to expect a decline from Pittsburgh’s defense is the expected regression from Cameron Heyward. The potential Hall of Famer turned 37 this offseason and will begin to project downward in the near future. With Tomlin gone, there’s a good chance that occurs this season. If that happens, Pittsburgh at least has Derrick Harmon to produce. Harmon had a mediocre rookie campaign, but as a first-round pick from the 2025 NFL Draft, he is expected to make a big leap soon. Heyward and Harmon will flank nose tackle Keeanu Benton, who is coming off a down year. Just 25, Benton could bounce back in 2026.

While Heyward may decline, T.J. Watt should continue to dominate as an edge rusher. Watt is one of the top pass rushers in the NFL, and his presence allows others like Alex Highsmith and Nick Herbig to place tons of pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Highsmith and Herbig notched 9.5 and 7.5 sacks, respectively, in 2025. Watt had just seven sacks on a down year, but should be able to revert back to double digits this upcoming season.

Despite Pittsburgh’s constant pressure, the team had issues covering downfield last year. This prompted the front office to give a big contract to cornerback Jamel Dean. The former Buccaneer will be a big upgrade at a position of dire need. He’ll start opposite Joey Porter Jr., while Jalen Ramsey will play in the slot. Porter had a rough start to his career, but had his best year in 2025. Rasmey, conversely, doesn’t have much time remaining in the NFL. He’ll turn 32 in October and appears to be declining rapidly.

Another new member of the secondary is Jaquan Brisker, who was signed over from the Bears. Brisker is a solid player, particularly in run support. He’ll start next to DeShon Elliott, who performed well while on the field last year. Elliott, however, was limited to just five games last year because of a gruesome hamstring injury.

Rounding out the defense, Patrick Queen and Payton Wilson will reprise their roles as the starting linebackers. Wilson had a strong rookie year in 2024, but regressed greatly last season. He’ll need to rebound because Queen was a massive liability last year, particularly in coverage.



2026 Pittsburgh Steelers Schedule and Intangibles:
The Steelers had some major kicking woes in 2015 – until they found Chris Boswell. He’s been an excellent kicker for them ever since. He was 27-of-32 last year, including 9-of-11 from 50-plus. Over the past two years, Boswell is a ridiculous 22-of-26 from beyond 50.

Corliss Waitman was the punter last year, but he left via free agency. The new punter will be Cameron Johnston, who had the worst net punting average in the NFL last season.

There’s good news and bad news regarding Pittsburgh’s schedule. The good news is that the Steelers get to play the NFC South. The bad news is that Pittsburgh has a first-place schedule and is only one of two teams that has to battle the Ravens and Bengals twice each. The Steelers have tough games scheduled against the Patriots, Eagles, Broncos, Texans, and Jaguars.

2026 Pittsburgh Steelers Analysis: Mike Tomlin had never had a losing season as an NFL head coach, but he’s not Pittsburgh’s coach anymore. Tomlin held a subpar team with Scotch tape and Elmer’s glue, so now that he’s gone, things are likely to fall apart. The Steelers are now a miserably coached team with an ancient quarterback, a worsened offensive line, and a defense featuring old players set to decline. No one should be surprised if the bottom falls out for the Steelers this year.

NFL Draft Team Grade: A Grade

Goals Entering the 2026 NFL Draft: The Steelers need to find a quarterback of the future, but they’re not expected to do so in the first two rounds of the 2026 NFL Draft. They need a better environment for this quarterback, which would entail upgrading the offensive line and finding more depth at receiver. The Steelers also have to clear up some aspects of their defense as well.

2026 NFL Draft Accomplishments: Pittsburgh nearly found its receiver when it called Makai Lemon and told him that he would be the pick. However, the Eagles traded up and snatched Lemon right out of the Steelers’ hands, which could be a blessing in disguise for Pittsburgh, based on Lemon’s behavior at the combine interviews. With Lemon gone, the Steelers pivoted to Max Iheanachor to provide an upgrade to the offensive line. Iheanachor will kick one of the incumbent tackles inside – presumably Broderick Jones – which could give the team two upgrades for the price of one. If this doesn’t work, third-rounder Gennings Dunker could be a major upgrade at guard. Dunker was a steal at No. 96 because he was pegged as a second-round prospect.

The Steelers eventually found their receiver when they selected Germie Bernard in the second round. Bernard was a better value there anyway, and the team won’t have to worry about any weird antics. Another receiver, Kaden Wetjen, was added in the fourth round, but he’s more of a return specialist.

Pittsburgh’s draft was mostly positive, but one huge whiff was the third-round pick used on Drew Allar. The Penn State product has a great arm, but can’t read the field at all and is a major project. Based on how the draft unfolded, Pittsburgh could have just waited several rounds for Garrett Nussmeier. Still, this isn’t enough to ding the Steelers very much because their draft class looks like a mostly positive one.



NFL Draft Individual Grades:


21. Max Iheanachor, OT, Arizona State – A- Grade

Max Iheanachor will move one of the incumbent tackles to guard. He’s a very talented offensive lineman who doesn’t have much experience. He’s a project of sorts, but he has very high upside and could give the Steelers two upgrades for the price of one. This is a solid pick for the host of the 2026 NFL Draft.


47. Germie Bernard, WR, Alabama – A Grade

Germie Bernard has great upside, and he should have been taken about 10 spots earlier. This is a great pick for the Steelers, who had nothing at receiver outside of DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman Jr. Even better, the Steelers don’t have to deal with a receiver with some major character concerns.


76. Drew Allar, QB, Penn State – C Grade

The Steelers needed a quarterback project. Well, Drew Allar is certainly a project. He has great tools, but has no feel for the game. His field vision is awful, and I don’t have much hope for him. There is some upside that can’t be ignored, however.


85. Daylen Everette, CB, Georgia – B- Grade

Daylan Everette has big upside, but is raw. He’s someone I had in Round 4, so this range is fine. It also makes sense for the Steelers to address this position at this spot.


96. Gennings Dunker, OT/G, Iowa – A+ Grade

I can’t wait to read Charlie Campbell’s Why the Slide on Gennings Dunker because I expected him to go in the middle portion of Round 2. He’s a nasty run blocker and provides great value, all while filling a need for Pittsburgh.


121. Kaden Wetjen, WR/KR, Iowa – B Grade

Kaden Wetjen is a receiver, which is a position the Steelers needed to address. He’s a project at the position, however, but he’s a dynamic returner, so he’ll be able to contribute right away on special teams, making this a decent pick.


169. Riley Nowakowski, TE, Indiana – B- Grade

Riley Nowakowski has great hands and can make big plays after the catch. However, he’s short but blocks well. The Steelers lost Jonnu Smith, so it’s not a surprise that they grabbed a tight end. I had Nowakowki in the sixth round.


210. Gabriel Rubio, NT, Notre Dame – C Grade

Gabriel Rubio was a sound tackler in school, but he’s slow and raw. I had him as a priority UDFA, but never put him in my mock draft. Adding a defensive lineman makes sense, but the Steelers could have done better.


224. Robert Spears-Jennings, S, Oklahoma – B Grade

Robert Spears-Jennings has great speed, and yet he struggles in coverage. The Steelers will have to develop him. He makes sense in the seventh round.


230. Eli Heidenreich, RB/WR, Navy – B+ Grade

Eli Heidenrich is a strong receiver and a tough run blocker, but isn’t a refined route runner. The Steelers listed him as a running back. I imagine they’ll use him on special teams, and he’ll be a hard worker, of course.

On Wednesday, September 10, 2026, the San Francisco 49ers and the LA Rams will invade the Melbourne Cricket Ground as the NFC rivals travel Down Under to start their respective regular season schedules. The NFL’s debut in Australia is just one game in the record-setting nine-game international regular season schedule set for 2026. Across four continents, seven countries, and eight stadiums, the league’s overseas tour is smashing last season’s seven-game slate. Just as the NBA has found international success, Roger Goodell is attempting to find the same, turning the NFL into a global sport. 

 

In 2005, the NFL made its first venture outside of the United States for a regular-season game, when the 49ers and the Arizona Cardinals made the trip to Mexico City. Since then, 63 games have been played internationally. 

 

New Faces In New Places

 

This season, the NFL is making its first appearance in Melbourne, Rio de Janeiro, and Paris, with each game representing a unique opportunity for the league. Kicking off the regular season and the international schedule in front of potentially 100,000 fans at one of the world’s most famous sports venues, the NFL has become immensely popular in Australia thanks to fantasy football and streaming services. 

 

Two weeks later, the Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Ravens will meet at Rio de Janeiro’s Maracanã Stadium. While the league has already played games in São Paulo in 2024 and 2025, Rio offers a different vibe. Maracana is one of the most emotionally energetic stadiums in the world when Flamengo and Fluminense take to the pitch, so one can only imagine what the atmosphere will be like when the NFL comes to town, especially with the Cowboys being the league’s most globally recognized team. 

 

Paris’ Stade de France welcomes the Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints on October 25th. After hosting the 2024 Olympics, the city, which is one of Europe’s most rapidly growing American football markets, still has world-class sports infrastructure and atmosphere to accommodate a primetime NFL matchup. 

 

Familiar Stomping Grounds

 

London continues to be a favorite stop on the NFL’s European schedule, once again hosting a trifecta of games, two at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and one at Wembley. The Jacksonville Jaguars, who have played 14 games in Europe, 12 as the designated home team, return for games at each of the famed soccer stadiums, taking on the Philadelphia Eagles and Houston Texans, respectively. 

 

Madrid makes another appearance on the NFL schedule after a successful impression last season, welcoming nearly 79,000 fans to Bernabéu. With Real Madrid being one of the most globally recognized sports brands, it seems mutually beneficial for the two identities to combine for another event as the Cincinnati Bengals battle the Atlanta Falcons at the Bernabéu. For fans tracking lines and odds on the early international slate of games, outlets such as mansionbet.com in NFL betting circles have already started previewing the games, a significant indication of how quickly these games are becoming a part of the mainstream NFL conversation. 

 

Munich will see its third NFL game during the 2026 season with the New England Patriots facing the Detroit Lions at Allianz Arena in November (November 15). Germany has proven to be one of the league’s most excited and eager markets, with the Munich games selling out quickly. 

 

After a four-year absence, the NFL makes a return to Mexico City. After kicking off the season in Melbourne in September, the 49ers will head south to take on the Minnesota Vikings for a late November (November 22) game at Estadio Banorte. 

 

What This Means For The NFL

 

While it is nice for players and their families to get a free trip to one or more popular international destinations for a little sightseeing and a regular-season game combo, the NFL is seeing the bigger picture. 

 

The league is no longer testing the waters to gauge its popularity around the world; it’s constructing and locking in multi-year deals with host cities, partnerships with legendary clubs such as Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, and broadcast arrangements to put games in front of audiences that weren’t easily accessible a decade ago. These games are no longer one-off experiments; they are becoming part of long-term international growth plans.


Viewership access has expanded alongside the game itself, meaning North American fans will no longer need niche streaming to watch their favorite team play overseas. Five of the nine international games will air exclusively on the NFL Network, while marquee matchups such as the Cowboys vs. Ravens game from Rio will be shown on CBS, and the Patriots vs. Lions game from Munich will be broadcast on Fox. 

 

For teams, playing a “home game” internationally means giving up a near guaranteed sellout in their own stadium, swapping home field advantage for jet lag, a hotel room, and unfamiliar field conditions. However, the marketing exposure, the increased international fanbase, and the revenue share from international contracts are hard to pass up. For teams such as the 49ers and the Jaguars, who either play multiple neutral-site games this season or are returning to their home away from home, they are using their international identity to their advantage. 

 

For international American football fans, these games mean that they are no longer limited to following their favorite team on TV, online, or for those fortunate enough to make the expensive trip to the US, but now they have the opportunity to enjoy the NFL game in person. 

 

While nine games is a record, with talk of the league hosting an 18-game regular season schedule and an international rights package worth potentially $1 billion, it seems inevitable that the NFL international schedule will continue growing well beyond 2026 as the game of American football truly becomes a global sport.

Jerk of the Week: Walter Gymnast

It feels like my kids were born yesterday, but it’s been much longer than that. My son Conrad just turned four-and-a-half, while my daughter Lilly will be three in August. They’re growing up before my very eyes, which means I have to engage them in more things.

This year’s engagement is sports. My wife decided that she wanted to sign up me and the kids for the Y so that they could do some sports there. She said she would drive over to the Y to sign up the family, but a traffic jam nixed those plans. I assumed that my wife would try again a few days later, but I was chided for not going there myself, so I took the kids and signed us up. The man who sold me the gym package told me that I could enroll both children into various sports classes online, but they would be at a first-come, first-serve basis about a week later.

The following week arrived, and my wife said she would sign up the kids at 6 a.m., which was when registration began. I work until then, so I volunteered to enroll them myself, though she was awake to give me suggestions. I signed in and began scouring the classes. I knew that Lilly wanted to do gymnastics, but they didn’t have any gymnastics classes for 2-year-olds. I tried to sign her up for the 3-year-old gymnastics class, seeing as how she would turn three before the classes were finished, but the system recognized her age and wouldn’t let me enter her. Thus, there was only one option, and that would be swim lessons, which we were already doing at the other gym.

I explained this dilemma to my wife, and she said she didn’t care either way, so I signed Lilly up for swimming again. I will have stories about these lessons in the weeks to come, but I’ll concentrate on Conrad this week. I asked my wife if he should also do swimming, but the response was negative because it was the summer, and he’d be in the pool a bunch anyway. I tried soccer because I want to increase his leg strength and foot coordination, but they had inconvenient times for soccer. The only other things that made sense were basketball and gymnastics.

“Do gymnastics,” my wife said.

I normally would have argued how gay this option was, but I was exhausted and wanted to go to bed. And thus begins the tale about how Conrad became a gymnast.

Conrad was not having a good day when it was time for his first gymnastics class. We had to go to the pediatrician’s beforehand to get a form filled out so that he could have anesthesia for two teeth extractions, which he needed because of some major cavities. I thought this was ridiculous because his baby teeth would fall out in a few years anyway, but I began thinking the pediatric dentists were correct when Conrad began crying out in pain because his teeth hurt.

Given how busy we were, Conrad had no time for a nap. He was exhausted because of that and the pediatrician visit. He began whining about not wanting to do gymnastics because, as he said, “I know I’m not going to like it.” I asked him how he’d know, and he didn’t have an answer for me, so I was thrilled to have won an argument against a 4-year-old. Checkmate.

I figured Conrad might be more enthusiastic about gymnastics once he entered the gymnasium at the Y. I asked the hot blonde at the front of the gymnasium where Conrad should go, and she told me that he would have to sit inside the red box near the wall.

I brought up the hot blonde, by the way, because there was such a huge dichotomy amongst the attractiveness of the girls teaching gymnastics. Half of them were 10-out-of-10 smoke shows, including the one at the front, while the other half were crossed-eyed homunculuses. There was no in between. There were supermodels, and there were creatures who wouldn’t be welcomed at the local underpass. Guess which ones were assigned to Conrad?

Conrad, by the way, wasn’t having it. He wouldn’t sit in the red box. He kept clinging to me, crying and not wanting to let go. The one-eyed gym instructor shook her head in disapproval. The other, a girl with a mustache and hairy armpits, told me that I could go with Conrad. And thus begins the tale about how I became a gymnast.

There were eight kids in the class. Well, eight kids and one adult, and that adult would be me. The gym instructor with the mustache and armpit hair had us stretch first. There were two issues with this. First, Conrad had no interest in stretching. He just kept clinging to me and crying while I stretched. The one other boy in the class, a redheaded kid with a bowl cut, chided Conrad and said, “He’s missing out on all the fun.”

Yeah, yeah, yeah, go back to your crappy barber.

The second issue was that I was wearing flip-flops in the 90-degree heat the entire time, so I didn’t have any socks. I was barefoot on the gym mat, which normally wouldn’t have been an issue, except I hadn’t cut my toenails in weeks. The only silver lining with having ugly gymnastic instructors was that I didn’t embarrass myself in front of any of the supermodels.

Still, this was brought up by the same douche with the red bowl cut.

“Hey, you have long nails like my mommy,” he said, pointing to my toes.

Some of the girls laughed. If I cared about the opinion of 4- and 5-year-olds, I would have stormed out of the gymnasium in tears. Instead, I swore under my breath that I would get revenge on this redheaded douche in the weeks to come.

“Gymnastics have only just begun, redheaded fiend,” I whispered to myself.

After stretching, we were led to a beam of sorts. While the mustachioed woman demonstrated, I began wondering if we were in some sort of advanced class. The girls in the class began mimicking her, and I realized that there was no way in hell that Conrad and I could copy those moves.

“Is this a class for beginners, because my son has never done that?” I asked the one-eyed woman.

“Oh, we’ll teach him,” she said.

Sure, if you say so! Conrad wasn’t up for anything unless I held his hand. He needed me to hold him on the rock-climbing wall and the beam. But then, he slowly opened up. He went on the beam by himself, and then they had him do some somersaults. I feared that I’d have to do those as well, but Conrad didn’t even look at me, so I thought I could slip away without being noticed.

I walked by the blonde smokeshow at the front and said “fingers crossed.” She laughed. I don’t know if she laughed at the situation, or at my hideous toenails, but I got her to display a positive demeanor, so I took that as a win.

Conrad finished the gymnastics class on a high note. Granted, he cried for two-thirds of it, but at least he didn’t need me at the end.

Later, at dinner, my wife asked the kids what the favorite part of their day was, as is tradition at our dinner table. Conrad wasted no time in answering.

“Gymnastics! Mommy, I did everything all by myself!”

Are you f**king kidding me!? It was your favorite part? And you did it all by yourself!?

I don’t know why Conrad was lying, but he was. And I had witnesses of my ugly toenails as proof.

2026 New Orleans Saints Offense:
The Derek Carr era in New Orleans ended unceremoniously, forcing the front office to find a viable replacement for the veteran quarterback. They used a second-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft on Tyler Shough, which drew some criticism because of Shough’s age. Shough, who was in college for what seemed like an eternity, will be 27 a couple of weeks into his second professional season.

Shough, however, outperformed all expectations last year. New Orleans supporters had to endure some miserable starts from Spencer Rattler before Shough replaced him in the middle of the season. Shough had a rough initial start against the Rams, but improved each week after that. By the end of his rookie season, Shough was performing on a high level, whether it was throwing passes or using his legs to pick up chunks of yardage on the ground.

Shough didn’t have much of a supporting cast beyond Chris Olave and Juwan Johnson last year. Granted, both had terrific seasons, but more talent was needed around Shough for him to take the next step. New Orleans recognized this and used the No. 8 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft on Jordyn Tyson. The rookie receiver is an explosive athlete and profiles as a potential No. 1 target down the road, though he has a history of hamstring issues. Still, Shough has to be thrilled with Tyson, especially if Olave’s concussion issues resurface. The Saints also used a fourth-round selection on Bryce Lance, an extremely athletic receiver.

Tyson wasn’t the first playmaker the Saints added to Shough’s arsenal this offseason. They also signed Travis Etienne to a large contract in free agency. Etienne had a great year in Jacksonville, and he could be an upgrade over the rapidly aging Alvin Kamara. However, it’s fair to be skeptical of the signing because Etienne is just one year removed from being benched in favor of Tank Bigsby. Part of the reason Etienne was so great in 2025 was that running back whisperer Liam Coen breathed life into his career. There’s an extensive history of running backs declining after being separated from the current Jacksonville head coach.

Etienne at least has a chance behind a stellar offensive line. The Saints used consecutive first-round picks on tackles, snatching Taliese Fuaga and Kelvin Banks in 2024 and 2025, respectively. While Fuaga was decent last year, Banks was especially strong despite being a rookie. Banks showed great potential and could be much better now that he has professional experience.

The Saints also have some strong talent in the interior of their blocking unit. Erik McCoy is one of the better centers in the NFL, though he played just seven games last year due to injury. He suffered a torn biceps, so he’ll be ready to go in 2026. Guards Cesar Ruiz and Dillon Radunz weren’t as good as the other three linemen, so the Saints made a sharp move in free agency by signing David Edwards away from the Bills. Edwards is a stout guard who will provide an upgrade at one of the two spots.



2026 New Orleans Saints Defense:
While the Saints made some positive changes to their offense, they parted ways with a mainstay of their defense. That player’s departure will have a colossal impact.

That player is Demario Davis. The 37-year-old wonder had been patrolling the middle of New Orleans’ defense since 2018. Despite his age, he was still a fantastic player, so his presence will sorely be missed. The Saints countered Davis’ departure for the Jets by signing a former player of theirs, Kaden Elliss. Originally drafted by the Saints in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Elliss played three years for New Orleans before signing with the Falcons. Elliss is a jack-of-all-trades linebacker; he can do anything from play the run well, to cover the middle of the field, to rush the passer. He’ll be a very capable replacement for Davis, and he’ll play alongside Pete Werner, who is coming off a down year. Werner, however, is just 27, so he’s young enough to rebound.

The Saints also thought they would lose Cameron Jordan, but he was re-signed in June. Jordan is now 37, but he still played relatively well last year. He had a team-high 10.5 sacks, so his pass-rushing presence will be welcome for at least one more year. If Jordan regresses, Elliss will help pick up the slack, as will Chase Young, who notched 10 sacks in 2025. Carl Granderson, who collected six sacks last year, will be asked to do more. The Saints also signed former first-rounder Tyree Wilson, who was a colossal bust with the Raiders. Perhaps there’s a chance Wilson can salvage his career, though that seems unlikely.

It was expected that the Saints would use an early draft pick on an edge rusher. Instead, they spent a second-round selection on nose tackle Christen Miller to help stop the run. Miller shouldn’t have an issue unseating the anemic Davon Godchaux for a starting role. If so, Miller will be flanked by Bryan Bresee and Nathan Shepherd. Bresee is a former first-round pick who hasn’t lived up to his draft billing, but is still young enough to make a big leap. Shepherd, conversely, was the best player in this area last year, which is far from a positive because he was just a mediocre performer.

Alontae Taylor, a mediocre cornerback, signed elsewhere in free agency. He won’t be missed as much as New Orleans’ other departures, thanks to the presence of Kool-Aid McKinstry, who thrived as a second-round pick from the 2024 NFL Draft. McKinstry will start opposite Quincy Riley, who had some bright moments toward the end of last year’s rookie campaign. Replacing Taylor in the slot will be Julian Blackmon, who missed all but one game last season because of a torn labrum.

Blackmon could always move to safety if the Saints find another cornerback to play in the slot. There’s some decent competition at safety, where Justin Reid and Jonas Sanker are slated to start. Reid is a quality player, while Sanker started last year despite being a third-round rookie. He wasn’t great, but he wasn’t a liability either.



2026 New Orleans Saints Schedule and Intangibles:
The Saints were 75-45 at home this past decade-plus, including 46-33 in the previous eight years. However, they’ve suffered some horrible losses at home in the playoffs.

Blake Grupe replaced Wil Lutz as the team’s kicker three years ago. Charlie Smyth then replaced Grupe. Smith hit some big kicks last year, going 12-of-16, including 4-of-6 from 50-plus.

New punter Ryan Wright was one of the top punters in the NFL last year, ranking fourth in net average. He also did well to place the opposition inside the 20.

The Saints have a much easier schedule than everyone else in the division. Instead of battling the 49ers, Seahawks, or Rams, they get to take on the Cardinals. And instead of going against the Chargers, Broncos, or Chiefs, they’ll battle the Raiders. The Saints have just a few very tough games against the Lions, Bears, Ravens, and Bengals.

2026 New Orleans Saints Analysis: Tyler Shough improved each start he made during his rookie year. Now, with experience and enhanced weaponry, he could make a big leap and lead his team on a playoff run. The Saints are coached well and have a decent defense, and the difference between them and the other teams in the division is that they have a very easy schedule.

NFL Draft Team Grade: B+ Grade

Goals Entering the 2026 NFL Draft: The Saints appear to have hit a home run with Tyler Shough, so they need to put him in the best position possible to succeed. This means giving him some new weapons to go along with Chris Olave. The Saints also have to look at pass-rushing help and improved secondary play.

2026 NFL Draft Accomplishments: The Saints were gifted Jordyn Tyson as a result of the Giants foolishly passing on him. They desperately needed a receiver because of poor depth and Chris Olave’s concussion history. It’s possible that Tyler Shough will have two No. 1 wideouts moving forward, so he has to be thrilled with the team’s first-round pick.

The Saints didn’t stop adding talent for Shough. Following a second-round defensive tackle selection, the Saints spent their next three draft choices on Shough’s support system, acquiring a guard and two pass-catchers. Bryce Lance at No. 136 provided the most value of the trio. Meanwhile, Oscar Delp will allow Kellen Moore to utilize multi-tight end formations more often.

New Orleans’ final picks were used to bolster special teams and the secondary. The team had a strong draft class overall.



NFL Draft Individual Grades:


8. Jordyn Tyson, WR, Saints – A Grade

The Saints were able to get the No. 1 receiver in this class at No. 8. Great job! It’s nice that they can help a young (sort of) quarterback with an additional weapon, especially with Chris Olave being such an injury risk. Speaking of injury risks, Tyson has some durability concerns, but nothing like a knee or anything. Mike Evans also has hamstring issues, and I doubt the Buccaneers regret drafting and paying him.


42. Christen Miller, DT, Georgia – C+ Grade

I’m not crazy about this pick. Christen Miller has talent, but hasn’t been able to put it together on the field yet. I get the upside, but I wish the Saints would’ve used another pick to help Tyler Shough or to address a greater need.


73. Oscar Delp, TE, Georgia – B Grade

The Saints needed another tight end, so this makes sense. Oscar Delp is a very athletic tight end, and I had him going around this range. It’s a fine choice, but not a very exciting one.


132. Jeremiah Wright, G, Auburn – C+ Grade

Jeremiah Wright is a huge guard and a powerful blocker at the point of attack. He needs more development in pass protection. He’s a project, but the Saints needed offensive line depth. I had him going later.


136. Bryce Lance, WR, North Dakota State – B+ Grade

The younger brother of Trey Lance, Bryce Lance is an elite athlete, but is an unrefined receiver. He’s a project, but the Saints had a big need for receiver depth. He could be a quality No. 3 option down the road, so this is a fine pick.


172. Lorenzo Styles, S, Ohio State – B Grade

Lorenzo Styles is an incredibly athletic safety who has upside. Styles could give the Saints a future starter, or at the very least, a special teamer. I thought he could go in this range.


190. Barion Brown, WR/KR, LSU – B Grade

Barion Brown is a speedy receiver and return specialist, but is very raw. It makes sense to add a receiver and a special-teamer, but they’ll have to develop Brown. I thought he would go in this range.


219. T.J. Hall, CB, Iowa – B Grade

T.J. Hall is a smart cornerback and a terrific tackler, but has speed concerns. I had him going around this range, so this picks sense for the Saints, who needed cornerback depth.

In 2024, he totaled 37 tackles with two sacks and three passes broken up. Rucker needs to dominate to rise, and it would help him to perform well at an All-Star game against better competition.
