2022 College Recruiting - 10 Commits

Last Player Grade Published on Aug. 28, 2021
Ohio State logo OT George Fitzpatrick (Englewood, CO) commits to Ohio State  View Class

Fitzpatrick (6-6, 282) has good size and length, giving him the frame to likely get to around 310-315 pounds or more. He looks to be fairly athletic with good feet. Fitzpatrick moves well in general and shows adequate quickness in his lateral movement. He keeps a natural wide base that serves him well in pass protection. It's hard to tell where Fitzpatrick is with his strength, but I'm sure he'll need to get stronger in the upper body. Fitzpatrick is a little more of a developmental player than the tackles Ohio State has taken recently, but the physical tools are there, and his upside is high.

George Fitzpatrick's Player Grade: B-
Ohio State logo WR Kojo Antwi (Suwanee, GA) commits to Ohio State  View Class

Ohio State is not afraid to go into the Southeast and fight for a big fish in recruiting. Antwi (6-0, 190) is widely considered a top-100 recruit regardless of position. He can run fast and run long, and he's just smooth and clean with his movement. Everything looks natural, like he's gliding. Antwi has good hands and already seems to be able to get additional yards after the catch just because he knows how to find space between him and the defender. He can stretch the field with his impressive long speed. Antwi's hands are strong, and despite not being a huge receiver, he is physical and will fight for the football. He could be the next in a very long line of great receivers to play at Ohio State.

Kojo Antwi's Player Grade: A-
Ohio State logo CB Terrance Brooks (Little Elm, TX) commits to Ohio State  View Class

All the big guns in the nation were after Brooks (5-11, 185), one of the top cornerbacks in the country, but Ohio State came out the winner in this recruiting battle. Brooks' length makes it seem like he's a 6-foot-2 cornerback. He has some long arms and reach to challenge any pass thrown in his direction. Brooks possesses elite-level ball skills, and he is a guy who takes pride in creating turnovers and negative plays for the offense. He's not afraid of contact and will come up on the perimeter to make tackles. Brooks is explosive with good speed, but his deep speed could get better. Overall, he's a dynamic, fast-twitch athlete who projects as one of the top players in the class regardless of position.

Terrance Brooks' Player Grade: A
Ohio State logo WR Kaleb Brown (Chicago, IL) commits to Ohio State  View Class

Brown (5-11, 173) is one of the best offensive athletes in the 2021 recruiting class. He is currently a tailback, and although he's a little thin on the frame to play that position full time in the Big Ten, I see him as a player who can offer opportunities at multiple positions. If he slides to wide receiver and just focuses on being a slot guy, there's a chance he'll be the best slot receiver in the class.

Brown is what Ohio State looks for in playmakers. He can get open in space and turn small gains into chunk plays. I don't think he can offer much as an outside receiver in college. Brown is a player who needs to work in space and use his vision and quickness to get down field. A very exciting prospect to watch, Brown is going to enter Columbus with a lot of expectations.

Kaleb Brown's Player Grade: A-
Ohio State logo ATH Kye Stokes (Seffner, FL) commits to Ohio State  View Class

The Buckeyes haven't dipped as much in Florida since Urban Meyer left, but they nabbed the commitment of Stokes (6-2, 185), a versatile athlete who can line up in the secondary or at wide receiver. He has a lot of raw skills, but he possesses great size for either receiver or safety, plus he can run. I think Stokes will end up on defense, and he could either continue to put on size and establish himself as more of a strong safety who can play in the box, or he'll improve his route running and ball skills to make things happen as an outside receiver. Stokes is looking at a big senior year to establish his development and likely determine his future.

Kye Stokes' Player Grade: B
Ohio State logo CB Ryan Turner (Hollywood, FL) commits to Ohio State  View Class

A few days after Ohio State made its return to Florida recruiting by grabbing the commitment of Tampa-area prospect Kye Stokes, the program went a little further south and grabbed Turner (6-0, 180). A year ago, when I had a chance to look at Turner in a game, I thought he was more of a fringe Power Five prospect. But he made strides in the offseason and drew the attention of a top program.

Turner can play man or zone, and he does a good job of getting off the line and maintaining a good cover on his man. His insticts and timing are very good. Turner doesn't lose his man and has a good feel of when he needs to play the ball.

Ryan Turner's Player Grade: B-
Ohio State logo WR Kylon Grayes II (Chandler, AZ) commits to Ohio State  View Class

Grayes (6-1, 175) originally committed to Arizona last summer, but backed away from that commitment around Christmas time. Very technically sound as a pass catcher, Grayes does everything right from his body control to the way he brings the ball into his body. He's a good route runner who continues to expand on that aspect of his game. Grayes is good at locating the sticks and moving the chains, but he is continuing to use his speed more and stretch the defense. He has to get bigger and show more physicality to play on the outside in the Big Ten.

Kylon Grayes II's Player Grade: B
Ohio State logo CB Jaheim Singletary (Jacksonville, FL) commits to Ohio State  View Class

Ohio State started the new year going big, and Singletary (6-1, 172) is one of the top cornerbacks in the class. He has length to spare and a reported 73-74-inch wingspan. He's putting on weight and is probably closer to 175-180 pounds than the 160 pounds he played at as a junior.

Singletary moves well, he can transition and change directions with ease. His timing continues to be an asset and a strength that only gets stronger with time. Singletary has good eyes and ball skills. He takes chances from time to time, but there's been more reward than risk with those chances thus far. Singletary is classic outside cornerback who is highly competitive and always ready to go against the best the opposition has to offer.

Jaheim Singletary's Player Grade: A-
Ohio State logo OT Tegra Tshabola (West Chester, OH) commits to Ohio State  View Class

Tshabola joins the growing list of 2022 prospects to make a verbal commitment to Ohio State. Projected to be one of the top-10-12 offensive tackles in the 2022 recruiting class, Tshabola (6-6, 300) had offers from Penn State, LSU, Florida, Indiana and Kentucky, among others. Ohio State extended its offer to Tshabola back in November of 2019.

Tegra Tshabola's Player Grade: N/A
Ohio State logo CB Jyaire Brown (New Orleans, LA) commits to Ohio State  View Class

Within a 2-week span, Brown (6-0, 160) received offers from Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma and Florida State among others. The offer from Ohio State was the one that put the New Orleans prospect over. Brown's signature is over a year away, and LSU probably won't let a top in-state prospect head to the Big Ten without a battle, so keep an eye on this recruitment. For now, Brown is the third commitment for the Buckeyes in the 2022 recruiting class.
