2022 College Recruiting - 7 Commits

Kentucky logo OT Nikolas Hall (Austin, TX) commits to Kentucky  View Class

Kentucky rarely recruits in Texas, but Hall (6-6, 300) is the son of former Wildcats lineman Antonio Hall. The elder Hall was a Parade All-American in the Class of 2000 and eventually developed into a First-Team All-SEC performer at Kentucky. Nikolas Hall has very good size and length, but he is much more of an unfinished product. He gives very good effort and shows signs of being a solid blocker and pass protector. Hall has good feet and shows improvement in his hands as I go through his film. He'll need to get more athletic and more comfortable with physical play. These are things that can be improved with more reps and time.

Nikolas Hall's Player Grade: C
Kentucky logo ATH Alex Afari (West Chester, OH) commits to Kentucky  View Class

Afari (6-2, 191) was a big target for Kentucky, as head coach Mark Stoops loves big cornerbacks. Afari plays corner in high school, so he's already has some of the technique down. He can run and shows good shiftiness and fluidity for a big corner. Afari shows good hips and can charge forward to play up on the line against the run or turn and run with a receiver. His long speed is something that might need to be worked on. Right now, Afari fits the role of a boundary corner. If he eventually moves to safety, his plus-level ball skills will be a nice asset.

Kentucky logo OT Kiyaunta Goodwin (Charleston, IN) commits to Kentucky  View Class

Kentucky's recruiting has improved each year under Mark Stoops, especially on the offensive line. Goodwin (6-7, 300) might be the best prospect the program has recruited yet, and he is going to be one of the top-10 players at his position in the class. He has great length, and the weight he carries looks great on his frame. Goodwin moves win, but he's not a finesse type of offensive lineman. He is a competitor who will get dirty and physical with anyone. Goodwin is very athletic, exploding off the snap or quickly hinging into his pass-protection stance. His technique improves by the day, and he continues to put together the package of what will be the Wildcats' future left tackle.

Kiyaunta Goodwin's Player Grade: A-
Kentucky logo TE Josh Kattus (Cincinnati, OH) commits to Kentucky  View Class

Kattus (6-4, 240) is a traditional type of tight end, meaning that he's going to be an inline player who can block and fight through traffic for the balls that get thrown his way. There isn't a lot of flash with Kattus' game, but he's solid all-around and a tough competitor who will bring a lot to the running game at Kentucky as a blocker. Kattus can catch the ball and shows good hands and some ability to get yards after the catch.

Josh Kattus' Player Grade: C+
Kentucky logo K Jackson Smith (Danville, KY) commits to Kentucky  View Class

According to the ProKicker.com website, Smith (5-11, 180) is the No. 1-rated kicker in the nation and the No. 1-rated punter. He was named the Ray Guy National Specialist of the Year in 2019. Kentucky will be without a scholarship kicker after the 2021 season, and Smith will be expected to walk in and take the job. He averaged 48 yards per punt as a junior and hit 58-of-62 kicks - extra points and field goals.

Jackson Smith's Player Grade: A-
Kentucky logo OT Grant Bingham (Paintsville, KY) commits to Kentucky  View Class

Bingham (6-6, 305) is arguably the top offensive line prospect in Kentucky, and he'll being staying in state to play for the Wildcats. I like Bingham's game. He's clearly very strong for his age, and he uses that power to bully defensive linemen. Bingham can stand up his opponent at the line, and he's not bad getting out in space, showing nice lateral movement. He is strong at the point of contact, and that's an asset with his pass blocking. Bingham is guilty of playing high at times and relying on his strength in lieu of technique as well. But he is strong and tough and can play a few different roles on the line.

Grant Bingham's Player Grade: B
Kentucky logo ATH Treyveon Longmire (Corbin, KY) commits to Kentucky  View Class

Longmire (6-2, 173) is a quality athlete who could play on either side of the ball. I like him as a wide receiver, and I think he could develop into a major presence in the passing game lining up on the outside. But it appears that Kentucky wants to use him in the secondary, and Longmire definitely has the skill set to succeed in a deep safety role. He has ball skills and good speed, plus is fluid and doesn't show many signs of stiffness. He'll have some developing to do as a defensive player, especially as a tackler. Longmire, however, will get stronger and faster in college, and he should be a quality multi-year producer.

Treyveon Longmire's Player Grade: B
