2022 College Recruiting - 10 Commits

Last Player Grade Published on Aug. 28, 2021
Alabama logo OT Tyler Booker (Bradenton, FL) commits to Alabama  View Class

Booker (6-5, 319) is a grown man who happens to be playing high school football. How special is Booker's size, speed, athleticism, etc.? Well, I've seen him line up at running back and not look out of place. Booker just has physical tools that just jump off the page. He gets off the ball so rapidly and is so quick with his initial blow at the point of contact that many defenders are caught off guard. Booker's technique is sound; his hands are good; and his feet are super quick. There just aren't too many flaws to his game. Booker is an elite prospect at the tackle position and a plug-and-play guy with All-American and first-round draft-pick type of potential.

Tyler Booker's Player Grade: A
Alabama logo LB Jeremiah Alexander (Alabaster, AL) commits to Alabama  View Class

Alexander (6-2, 227) is one of the elite defensive prospects in the 2022 class. He has the elite speed and physical tools necessary to become one of the top college football players during the next cycle. As impressive as Alexander's physical tools are, the first thing I notice on his film is his ability to read and track the game play. He has a high football IQ and is rarely caught out of position or in a spot where he can handle a blocker and get to the ball-carrier. As a pass rusher, Alexander shows next-level burst and speed off the edge. He is a playmaker who goes for the strip on the sack and tries to create turnovers. Alexander is the type of prospect who keeps Alabama at the top.

Jeremiah Alexander's Player Grade: A+
Alabama logo ATH Antonio Kite (Anniston, AL) commits to Alabama  View Class

Kite (6-1, 190) is a two-sport athlete who has legitimate interest from Division I schools to play basketball. He is going to be a corner/safety in college, and his natural fit is at free safety. Kite has high-level ball skills. He isn't just playing the football for a deflection on a breakup; Kite is looking for the turnover and making a big play on defense. He has a great frame and looks like he'll easily be able to carry 200 pounds. Kite moves well with no real signs of stiffness, and that should make him available for some cross training at cornerback. I think he could be a very good boundary cornerback and play the short-side passes or come up and help in run support. Kite is a versatile player who could fit at any one of several positions in the secondary.

Antonio Kite's Player Grade: B+
Alabama logo ATH Amari Niblack (St. Petersburg, FL) commits to Alabama  View Class

Niblack (6-4, 210) might be one of the most intriguing prospects in the nation. He is a floor guy for Alabama's recruiting class, but he could end up a top-10 pick 4-5 years from now. He came on the scene as a freshman playing wide receiver, and to be honest, he played too much wide receiver and didn't get a lick of development at his original high school.

Niblack has scene transferred to Lakewood High, which has produced current NFL players Dante Fowler, Isaiah Wynn and Shaquem and Shaquill Griffin and is in a much better situation with coaching and structure. I think Niblack, with his great athletic tools, will end up as an outside linebacker/edge rusher. He has a long way to go in terms of football development, but if he's patient and Alabama is patient with him, I believe his upside is tremendous.

Amari Niblack's Player Grade: B-
Alabama logo RB Le'veon Moss (Baton Rouge, LA) commits to Alabama  View Class

This one is a bit of a surprise because Moss (6-0, 192) was thought to be a near-lock to LSU. That being said, I've heard from a couple of people that this recruitment is far from over. Alabama, however, got Moss on an official visit and earned the verbal commitment with LSU, Texas A&M and TCU also on his short list.

Moss is a tough runner who squares up in the hole and accelerates downhill at a nice clip. He is a natural home-run hitter, and I think he'll be able to contribute more as a pass catcher in college than what he is showing in high school. Moss runs with discipline and goes where the openings are. He's not a back who looks to break everything to the outside if it's not there. Moss is a definite top=10 running back in the class and another elite player among the many who go to Alabama.

Le'veon Moss' Player Grade: A-
Alabama logo DT Jaheim Oatis (Columbia, MS) commits to Alabama  View Class

Oatis (6-4, 347) is a big space eater in the middle of a defensive line. He's been a familiar face at camps around SEC programs since he was a freshman. He is very strong and can push back piles and fight to get in the backfield. Oatis plays against mid-level high school competition in Mississippi and is basically unblockable. Tough at the point of contact and despite his size and height, Oatis knows how to play with leverage and get low to win the short-yardage battles. He is pretty raw in his development, and at his current level of competition, Oatis doesn't need to do much to dominate. He might need some time in Alabama's strength program to transform his body and playing style, but he is a unique physical prospect.

Jaheim Oatis' Player Grade: B
Alabama logo RB Emmanuel Henderson (Hartford, AL) commits to Alabama  View Class

Henderson (6-1, 185) is not only one of the top-five - or maybe top-three - running backs in the nation, but he's also from Alabama, so was there any doubt he would end up with the Crimson Tide? He has great size for a running back and the sort of power/speed combination that we've come accustomed to seeing from Alabama. Henderson also has the frame to easily add 20-30 pounds.

Henderson has shown great athleticism on the football field and the ability to play multiple positions. As a running back, Henderson shows plus-level vision and the ability to get through openings quickly. He can be effective in the passing game and shows all the necessary skills to be a three-down back. It's been an impressive line of five-star running backs to come through Alabama. Henderson has a high ceiling, but he'll face high expectations.

Emmanuel Henderson's Player Grade: A
Alabama logo QB Ty Simpson (Martin, TN) commits to Alabama  View Class

Simpson (6-2. 190) made his pledge to Alabama in an announcement that was live streamed on the CBS platforms. He shares a similar skill set to which we've come to see from the more recent Alabama quarterbacks. While Simpson isn't as athletic as Tua Tagovailoa was before the hip injury, he moves well and has the ability to make accurate throws on the run and deliver tough passes that many quarterbacks would shy away from. Simpson is comfortable in the pocket, and he can pick an opponent apart if they let him sit there and make decisions unbothered. His arm talent is just about right, and the ball comes out of his hands very quickly. Simpson makes good decisions with the football and isn't afraid to challenge defenses that dare him to beat them over the top.

Ty Simpson's Player Grade: B+
Alabama logo TE Elijah Brown (Dayton, OH) commits to Alabama  View Class

Brown (6-5, 232) is a good-looking athletic tight end who Alabama was able to pull out of the heart of Big Ten Country. He's a pass-catching tight end who can be used in various ways on the field as an inline, in the slot or on the outside. In Alabama's offense, the tight end has to be a willing blocker, and Brown is although, he will continue to develop in that area.

Brown is a big target, and he knows how to get open and get in the quarterback's eyesight. He sits down on his routes and shows soft hands. Brown will be able to contribute to the passing game early and eventually develop into a three-down player.

Elijah Brown's Player Grade: B
Alabama logo DE Walter Bob (Lafayette, LA) commits to Alabama  View Class

Bob (6-5, 251) committed to the defending national champions a week after his teammate cornerback Laterrance Welch committed to rival LSU. Bob already has the size to play defensive end, and I could see him being a moving part for the Crimson Tide once he gets to the 275-280-pound range because he's already showing the ability to rush the passer while playing the three-technique.

Bob is good off the snap, and I really like the way he sheds blocks and the way he uses his hands to free himself up. Some of the best clips in his reel, however, are him chasing down ball-carriers from behind and showing the motor and pursuit that Alabama defensive linemen are known for.

Walter Bob's Player Grade: B+
