The early part of the 2027 NFL Draft process started over the spring with the advance scouts putting together their preseason watchlist based on their film study and visiting colleges in their territory. The preseason watch lists are shared with the teams that are part of National Football Scouting or the Blesto scouting service. Looking at the 2026 preseason watch list, two tight ends graded out highly. LSU’s Trey’Dez Green graded out 10th overall, while Oregon’s Jamari Johnson came in at 32nd overall.

The 6-foot-6, 238-pound Green flashed dynamic receiving ability as a sophomore, hauling in 33 passes for 433 yards with seven touchdowns. Green has surprising speed and fluid athleticism for a big-bodied tight end. He could be a mismatch weapon in the NFL. As a freshman backing up Mason Taylor, Green caught four touchdowns with 101 yards on 13 catches. NFL advance scouts have Green’s 40-yard dash time projected to be 4.55 seconds, which is a fast time for a tight end with Green’s size.

While Kenyon Sadiq got the most attention, he wasn’t the only talented tight end on the Ducks, as Johnson flashed serious ability. Johnson (6-4, 245) has quality size and flashed athleticism and speed as a receiver. In 2025, he caught 32 passes for 510 yards and three touchdowns. With Sadiq in the NFL, Johnson could produce more in 2026.

The preseason grades are not set in stone, and scouts will forget them soon. In the 2018 preseason, Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray and Alabama defensive tackle Quinnen Williams were not on the preseason watch list. Yet Murray became the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, and Williams went third a few months later. There have been other late-round projections, such as Joe Burrow, who ended up skyrocketing during the season. Other players had high preseason projections but were mid- or late-round picks months later. Thus, the value is more of a watch list than a reflection of players’ abilities. But entering the 2026 season, Green and Johnson are highly rated. A few weeks ago, we reported that Texas’s Arch Manning was the highest-rated quarterback on NFL teams’ preseason watch lists. With Texas Tech’s Brendan Sorsby being denied entry into the NFL’s Supplemental Draft, there is one more early-round prospect for the 2027 NFL Draft. However, the 2027 group is a deep year for quarterback talent, and other quarterbacks had early-round preseason grades from the advance scouts. After Manning, the advance scouts had Oregon’s Dante Moore, South Carolina’s LaNorris Sellers, LSU’s Sam Leavitt, and Sorsby graded in the top 32 prospects.

Moore was a dynamic point-producer for the Ducks in 2025, making plays with his arm and legs. In 2025, Moore completed 72 percent of his passes for 3,565 yards with 30 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Moore is a dangerous quarterback who is tough to defend. In 2023 with UCLA, Moore completed 54 percent of his passes for 1,610 yards with 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Moore has a good arm and can throw some beautiful passes deep down the field. Moore has a lot of talent and upside, but against Indiana in the college football playoff, Moore struggled. He showed that he needs to improve his processing speed and was holding the ball too long, leading to taking unnecessary sacks. Team sources say that, having stood next to Moore (6-2, 215), he is nearly the same size as Rams quarterback Ty Simpson. Size was a criticism of Simpson, so Moore could have some of that next spring.

The 6-foot-3, 242-pound Sellers is known to have a great skill set with a power arm and running ability. In 2025, Sellers was hurt by an awful offensive line as he completed 61 percent of his passes for 2,437 yards with 13 touchdowns passing, eight interceptions, five rushing scores, and some yardage on the ground. In 2024, Sellers completed 66 percent of his passes for 2,534 yards with 18 touchdown passes, seven interceptions, and seven rushing touchdowns. Sellers needs to improve his accuracy and fundamentals as a pocket passer.

While recovering from a Lisfranc injury, Leavitt transferred to LSU for the 2026 season. In 2025, Leavitt completed 61 percent of his passes for 1,628 yards with 10 touchdowns and three interceptions in seven games before going out for the season in late October. In 2024, Leavitt did a good job of managing the game and using the playmakers at his disposal while leading Arizona State into the college football playoffs. He completed 62 percent of his passes for 2,885 yards with 24 touchdowns and six interceptions. Leavitt (6-2, 200) is not big, but he was an efficient passer and has some arm talent.

Sorsby (6-2, 238) started out his college career at Indiana and was a backup in 2022. In 2023, he saw some action, completing 57 percent of his passes for 1,587 yards with 15 touchdowns passing, four rushing, and five interceptions. After that season, he transferred to Cincinnati. In 2024, he completed 64 percent of his passes for 2,813 yards with 18 touchdowns and seven interceptions. In 2025 with Cincinnati, Sorsby completed 62 percent of his passes for 2,800 yards with 27 touchdowns and five interceptions. He ran for nine touchdowns in each of his seasons with the Bearcats. Sorsby transferred to Texas Tech after the season, but entered treatment last April for a gambling addiction. Sorsby reportedly bet over $90,000 on pro and college sports, including making bets on his own team. Sorsby had a suspension from the Big 12. After successfully suing to be play, other teams in the Big 12 conference revolted, and the controversy caused Sorsby to seek entry into the NFL’s Supplemental Draft. The NFL declined to hold a Supplemental Draft and encouraged Sorsby to prepare for the 2027 NFL Draft.

Other players had high preseason projections but were mid- or late-round picks months later. Thus, the value is more of a watch list than a reflection of players’ abilities. But entering the 2026 season, these quarterbacks are highly rated. Some of them are in my my latest 2027 NFL Mock Draft, but some of them are not in the first round, and I have a different quarterback going in the first round not mentioned in the group above.

As NFL teams were winding down their offseason program and preparing to have their summer break before training camp, Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby applied to enter the NFL Supplemental Draft. It has not been clear that the NFL was going to hold a Supplemental Draft, but Sorsby is seeking that opportunity.

Sorsby started out his college career at Indiana and was a backup in 2022. In 2023, he saw some action, completing 57 percent of his passes for 1,587 yards with 15 touchdowns passing, four rushing, and five interceptions. After that season, he transferred to Cincinnati. Sorsby transferred to Texas Tech after the season, but was suspended because of his issues with gambling. Sorsby had a gambling addiction that caused him to go into rehab, and he bet on his own team in the past. After successfully suing to play, other teams in the Big 12 conference revolted, and the controversy caused Sorsby to seek entry into the NFL’s Supplemental Draft.

In reaching out to team sources, to see where they would project Sorsby. There was a lot of ambiguity.

“He’s got talent now,” said an assistant general manager. “I gave him a third-round grade last fall. He will get drafted later, red flag or not. The red flag is not good with owners and general managers. And next year’s quarterback class is loaded, but it takes just one team.”

“I thought he was a late first or solid second round quarterback last fall,” said a director of college scouting. “He would have been the third or fourth-rated quarterback in the past draft. But the gambling thing is a complete wild card. And no way of knowing what any team other than my own will do. A lot will be based off the NFL decision to: 1. Allow him to enter the supplemental draft. 2. If so, does that include any sort of suspension? 3. Teams w/ multiple 2-4 rd picks in ‘27 that need a QB would make the most sense.”

“Gambling is one of the known cardinal sins of sports and, along with not abusing women, kids, or stealing from teammates, usually included in most team mantras and mission statement as far as no-no’s,” said an area scout. “It wasn’t a 1 time slap on the wrist thing – it was done over a long period. It all depends on if a few hours of meeting with him convinces someone he’s truly remorseful. There’s no question he’s talented, but is it special enough to add the potential distraction or disruption that could come with it? All depends on who is willing to take the risk, especially if his issue was deemed real from a mental health perspective, and the mind behind what and why he did it regardless. He was being paid good money and still crafted a system to do it. That’s not just impulse, that’s working around the lines and not believing you’d get caught.

One director of player personnel (DPP) said he thought Sorsby would be a third-round pick. Another DPP said he thought he would be taken in the 4-6 round range. One national scout said a seventh-round grade. One area scout said a fifth-round pick. Overall, it sounds like Sorsby could be a mid to late-round pick in the Supplemental Draft if available.

The early part of the 2027 NFL Draft process started over the spring with the advance scouts putting together their preseason watchlist based on their film study and visiting colleges in their territory. The preseason watch lists are shared with the teams that are part of National Football Scouting or the Blesto scouting service. Looking at the 2026 preseason watch list, the highest-rated quarterback is the highly hyped Arch Manning of Texas.

Manning was a highly hyped prodigy for years before he started his college career at Texas. As the nephew of Peyton Manning and Eli Manning, Arch Manning was one of the most highly coveted recruits in college football history. He picked Texas and initially was a backup to Quinn Ewers. He saw his first significant action in 2024 when Ewers was out with an injury. Manning completed 68 percent of his passes (61-of-90) for 939 yards with nine touchdowns and two interceptions. He also had four rushing touchdowns. After the season, Texas gave the starting quarterback spot to Manning after they pushed Ewers out, urging him to enter the transfer portal or the NFL Draft.

To open the 2025 season, Manning struggled against Ohio State before beating up on some weak opponents. He underwhelmed in a loss to Florida, but rebounded with a solid performance to beat rival Oklahoma. In late October, the Longhorns were way down in the third quarter to Mississippi State, and Manning led a comeback win in overtime. Manning concluded the season with solid performances against Georgia, Arkansas, Texas A&M, and Michigan. In 2025, Manning completed 61 percent of his passes for 3,163 yards with 26 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He had 10 rushing touchdowns. At 6-foot-4, 230 pounds, Manning has the size that NFL teams like in a starting quarterback. Click here for a preseason scouting report on Manning..

The preseason grades are not set in stone, and scouts will forget them soon. Other players had high preseason projections but were mid- or late-round picks months later. Thus, the value is more of a watch list than a reflection of players’ abilities. But entering the 2026 season, Smith, Moore, and Stewart are the highest-graded prospects, and I have them all going off the board quickly in my latest 2027 NFL Mock Draft.

The 2026 NFL Draft is finally here! Here are some rumors that I have heard from sources with the draft just hours away.

There are a lot of teams that want to trade down in the 2026 NFL Draft, but it isn’t clear that there are a lot of teams that want to trade up. Last night, in speaking with an AFC director of player personnel of a team picking in the top half of the first round, they said they believe the Detroit Lions are looking to move up for Alabama left tackle Kadyn Proctor. Sources say the Lions would look to move up for Proctor, offering this year’s second-round pick and next year’s second-round pick. A key to potentially getting the trade down is seeing Proctor get past the Cleveland Browns at six. Perhaps the Lions are trying to disguise their true intentions, but general manager Brad Holmes did a big trade up for Jameson Williams, and some team sources think he will do that again for another Alabama product.

The 2026 NFL Draft has zero mystery at the very top as the Las Vegas Raiders are selecting Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza. That pick has been known for months and makes for an anti-climactic opening night of the draft for Las Vegas. That is, unless the Raiders trade back into the first round from their second-round pick, the 36th overall selection. However, Las Vegas has a lot of holes on its roster, so giving up picks sounds unlikely. In speaking with sources, they say the Raiders’ preference would be to take a wide receiver early in the second round. They say they won’t force it and reach to fill the need, but all things being equal, they would take a receiving weapon for Mendoza at pick 36.

Washington has had some interesting conversations this week. It sounds like trading down is still the preferred option if a quality deal is offered. If they don’t have a deal worth taking and they are forced to stick-and-pick, sources think they would take either Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate or Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles. Not all of their evaluators are high on Tate, but he would fill an immediate need and provide a long-term weapon for third-year quarterback Jayden Daniels. Hence, some sources think that when push comes to shove, they would go with Tate. However, Styles could easily go ahead of pick seven and further push Washington towards Tate. The team absolutely loves Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love, and if he got to pick seven, sources say they would take him. Given the realistic options, sources think Washington will take Tate.

Some teams are spooked by the back injury to Miami offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa. Those teams feel that surgery is inevitable, and Mauigoa should have the procedure immediately after the draft. Otherwise, they feel it could become a problem during his rookie season and could cut the season short. They think that if he has the surgery right away, he could miss the first month of the season, but could be back by the middle of the season without any long-term concerns. Other teams aren’t worried at all, so it will be interesting to see if this medial situation causes Mauigoa to slide.

During the lead-up to the 2026 NFL Draft, there have been a lot of projections of the Dallas Cowboys taking a defensive lineman with one of their first-round picks. In speaking with sources, a lot of options are in play for Dallas, and adding to the defensive line is a possibility. The Cowboys do like Auburn defensive end Keldric Faulk, and he would continue the trend of Dallas getting bigger and more physical up front. It sounds like the Cowboys are not as high on Miami defensive end Akheem Mesidor and Clemson end T.J. Parker. Dallas also really likes Miami defensive end Rueben Bain, Ohio State safety Caleb Downs, and LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane. However, that trio could all go in the top 10 and not make it to their pick at 12. Hence, the talk of the Cowboys having interest in trading up in the first round. The Cowboys have a lot of options to consider at 12 and 20, but they are focused on building up the defense.

The Patriots went from picking 4th overall a year ago to picking 31st this year, and like a year ago, New England could be looking to add some help for young franchise quarterback Drake Maye. In the first round, the Patriots have offensive prospects in play for pick 31, including Utah offensive tackle Caleb Lomu and Texas A&M wide receiver K.C. Concepcion. Concepcion has character concerns, but he is alive and not ruled out by New England. Defensively, the Patriots like some of the edge rush options that are potential late first-rounders like Aggies’ Cashius Howell, Missouri’s Zion Young, and UCF’s Malaki Lawrence. Picking so late in the first round, the Patriots have a lot of routes they could go, but those are some of the options under consideration.

One of the mysterious picks in the first round is the 11th selection with the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins have many needs as this regime begins a massive rebuild. Thus, there are a lot of directions Miami could go in the first round at pick 11 and pick 30. In speaking with sources, it does not sound like the Dolphins are high on the top cornerbacks and could opt to wait to add cornerback talent. At pick 11, the Dolphins could sit tight and see what top talent falls in their lap and go with the best player available. Perhaps Ohio State safety Caleb Downs or Miami Hurricanes defensive end Rueben Bain slips out of the top 10. If they did that, the slide could end with the Dolphins for one of them. They could also address the other line, and that is what I have them doing in my final 2026 NFL Mock Draft. Miami has a lot of options and routes they could go at pick 11. The Dolphins will also listen to offers, and if they moved down, some potential targets could include Penn State guard Vega Ioane and Clemson defensive tackle Peter Woods. With two first-round picks and a lot of areas to address, Miami is a true wild card in the 2026 NFL Draft.

The 2026 NFL Draft is just one day away! Here are some rumors that I have heard from sources with the draft just hours away.

One team that is at a crossroads in the 2026 NFL Draft is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs need help in the defensive front seven at linebacker and edge rusher. Sources with Tampa Bay say addressing the defense is most likely the direction they go in the first round, but of course, that depends on who falls to them at pick 15. Sources say Tampa Bay is high on Miami edge rusher Akheem Mesidor and Georgia linebacker C.J. Allen. Those two are the top candidates for the Buccaneers. They also have some love for Texas A&M edge rusher Cashius Howell. Auburn defensive end Keldric Faulk is another candidate, but some sources with the team liked him, while others were not big fans of Faulk. Tampa Bay loves Tennessee cornerback Jermod McCoy, but the medical report will likely lead to the Bucs passing on McCoy. It sounds like Mesidor was the favorite, but the Buccaneers have been very good at hiding their true intentions, so you can’t rule out a dark horse player being a shocking pick to Tampa Bay.

The New Orleans Saints have been a mysterious team picking in the top 10 with the eighth-overall pick. There are a lot of directions the Saints could go, including a defensive end like Miami’s Rueben Bain, a wide receiver like Ohio State’s Carnell Tate, and a defensive back like LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane or Ohio State safety Caleb Downs. General manager Mickey Loomis has never traded down in the first round, but you never say never. In speaking with sources, the Saints are doing some extra late work on potential players that would be trade-down candidates. Auburn’s Keldric Faulk is one of those players, along with some other defensive backs like Delane, Hood, and Johnson. A team might want to move to pick 8 to get in front of Kansas City at 9. The Saints might make history under Loomis and actually move down. Everything is on the table for New Orleans.

Sources with a few teams say the medical concerns with McCoy are getting him dropped off some boards, even though his 2024 tape was the best tape of any cornerback prospect. Some teams feel he might need another surgery. Thus, McCoy is very fluid to go in the first round or slip to day two. Sources from a few teams thought McCoy’s teammate Colton Hood would be the second cornerback drafted. Sources at other teams thought San Diego State’s Chris Johnson could be the second cornerback selected. Given the demand for cornerbacks in the NFL, sources felt that Hood and Johnson could crack the top 20 picks. They felt either one or both could come off the board in the 11-20 range.

In speaking with a team source, they said they were talking about clients with one of the top agents in the NFL, and this agent said he had spoken with 31 teams about their first-round pick. This is how the agent predicted the top 10 would go. One, the Raiders take Fernando Mendoza. He thought the Jets were taking David Bailey with the second pick. He thought Arizona was taking Jeremiyah Love with the third pick. The Titans would take Arvell Reese at 4. Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson would be the fifth-overall pick to the Giants. At 6, they thought the Cleveland Browns would take Miami offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa. They thought Washington would take Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles at 7. With the eighth pick, they thought the Saints were going with Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate, but also said Miami defensive end Rueben Bain and LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane were in the running for New Orleans. They thought the Chiefs would take Bain or Tate at 9, and at 10, they thought the Giants would take Ohio State safety Caleb Downs. It will be interesting to see how their projections pan out. I have a lot of similar picks but differ at a few spots in my latest 2026 NFL Mock Draft.

Yesterday in the Hot Press, we reported how Washington wanted to trade down in the first round, and LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane was a potential target. If the franchise formerly known as the Redskins is forced to stick-and-pick, Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles is a top candidate. Wide receiver is a huge need on the Washington roster, but in speaking with sources, it sounds like they are not in love with any of the top receiver prospects, including Styles’ teammate Carnell Tate. General manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn may decide to get Jayden Daniels a weapon, but it does not sound like Washington is in love with Tate at pick seven.

Team sources around the league were surprised that the New York Giants were able to get a top-10 pick for nose tackle Dexter Lawrence. It sounds like staff with the Giants were surprised as well. Around the league, many thought the Giants might get a late first-round pick and a day-two pick this year or next for a trade similar to what the Jets got for Quinnen Williams. However, those offers were blown away when Cincinnati offered a top-10 pick. New York gets to add a long-term starter and saves a lot of money on a contract extension. In my latest 2026 NFL Mock Draft, I have the Giants addressing a different weakness on defense that has plagued New York.

One of the more intriguing prospects to follow in the 2026 NFL Draft is Tennessee cornerback Jermod McCoy. Sources from multiple teams say that McCoy’s 2024 tape is by far the best tape of any of the cornerback prospects. However, he missed all of the 2025 season with a knee injury. While he ran a fast 40 time in pre-draft workouts, McCoy is still being eased back into practice-caliber workouts and is not doing lateral cutting. Some sources said their team flunked McCoy medically because of the knee. Other teams said he was cleared medically and is alive on their board.

With that discrepancy, sources from a few teams think McCoy will slide to the second round like Michigan cornerback Will Johnson did last year. They say that McCoy’s knee situation is even worse than Johnson’s was a year ago. McCoy will enter next fall having gone almost two years without playing football. Sources from other teams say McCoy is so talented and the tape is so good, they think he could still go in the first round. In my latest 2026 NFL Mock Draft, I have McCoy going to a team that needs a No. 1 corner and one that was mentioned yesterday as having interest in him. It will be fascinating to see when and where McCoy comes off the board.

The week before the draft, part of a letter sent by Texas A&M wide receiver K.C. Concepcion was leaked to the public. While Concepcion spoke passionately about rewarding the team that drafted him, there is some other context that could be going under the radar. Sources at multiple teams said there are character concerns with Concepcion, so perhaps that letter was sent out to teams to help address those concerns. Concepcion took a lot of top-30 visits as teams brought him into their facility to interview him. Concepcion is considered to be a pick in the back half of the first round, and if he slides to the second round, it will be from the character concerns.

Another talented wide receiver that could slide because of character concerns is Tennessee’s Chris Brazzell. Sources say they like Brazzell’s skill set, and he flashed at times with the Volunteers, but teams that are strict on character will probably pass on Brazzell.

Louisville’s Chris Bell could have been a first- or second-round pick if it weren’t for a knee injury that happened late last season. Sources say they have some concerns about Bell learning their playbook, and coming off the knee injury, they think the earliest he will come off the board is the third round. They think that Bell is going to need a redshirt season, and drafting him would essentially be stashing him for 2027.

Team sources say the 2026 NFL Draft is really feeling the ramifications of NIL payments to college football players. Many in the league have said this is a weak draft, and the NIL money to get players to go back to school has been a big factor in reducing the talent pool. Some scouts said that there are some schools that are paying a player who might have a fifth-round grade estimation the same amount of money as a fifth-round pick’s signing bonus to go back to school. The player makes a similar amount of money but then gets the opportunity to improve their draft stock for next year.

One national scout said that Miami defensive end Akheem Mesidor is a good example. If he had entered the 2025 NFL Draft, he probably would have been a fourth-round pick based on his play, age, and injury history. The age and injury history are still hurting Mesidor now, but after a strong season with good tape, he probably will be a late first- or second-round pick.

The 2026 NFL Draft is just three days away! Here are some rumors that I have heard from sources with the draft just hours away.

There have been a lot of rumors in the media and with team people about the Dallas Cowboys trading up in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Sources at teams picking high in the first round have said they believe that if the Cowboys did trade up in the first round, it would be for Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles. There are teams that want to trade down, like the Arizona (3), Cleveland (6), and Washington (7). However, the Cowboys do not have a second-round pick from the Quinnen Williams trade, and sources say that Dallas does not want to part ways with pick 20. That is one of the selections they received from the Packers for Micah Parsons. With not having a second and wanting to hold onto pick 20, Dallas would have to get creative to move up.

Sources said the Cowboys might be able to do a smaller trade-up if Styles slides. They said a potential partner would be Kansas City at pick 9. The Chiefs could drop to 12 and get the Cowboys’ third-round pick. Sources say Kansas City’s potential pick candidates would be Miami defensive end Rueben Bain and Alabama left tackle Kadyn Proctor. Kansas City also could do something unexpected at 12, as they could also consider Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate, LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane, or Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq. It sounds like Bain is their top target, but trading down to 12 could cost them Bain, as Miami could decide to keep him playing football in South Florida. From speaking with league sources, the Cowboys and Chiefs could be trade partners, but it will depend on how the draft unfolds.

As I posted on X over the weekend, Washington would love to trade down in the first round. The franchise formerly known as the Redskins is without a second-round pick due to the Laremy Tunsil trade. Sources say Washington is absolutely in love with Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love, but they do not think he will get there. Sources say if Washington were able to move down, a potential target would be LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane. Cornerback is a big weakness on the team, and Washington likes Delane. If they are forced to stick-and-pick, it sounds like Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles could be the selection, with Delane and Ohio State safety Caleb Downs also getting consideration. While Washington wants to move down, it is always easier said than done, and they need a partner to help make it happen.

Another post I had on X over the weekend was that the Cleveland Browns would love to move down from the sixth pick. Sources say the Browns would like to move down and take an offensive tackle. In a trade down and if they are forced to stay at six, their top targets are Utah offensive tackle Spencer Fano and Alabama offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor. Both players could finish off their revamped offensive line with a long-term starter at left tackle.

Multiple team sources have been raving about Proctor over the final days before the draft. Sources at four different teams said he looked elite at the Alabama pro day. For a lot of the lead-up to the draft, Proctor has been considered to be selected after Fano and Miami’s Francis Mauigoa. The media also put the hypemachine into overdrive on Georgia tackle Monroe Freeling. However, multiple team sources think Proctor could be the second tackle off the board.

“Proctor has better tape than Tristan Wirfs did coming out of Iowa,” said an NFC director of player personnel. “Don’t get me wrong, Proctor has his warts, and you’ve got to see them crystal clear as a three-year starter in the SEC. But Proctor is a freak. He is always going to be heavy; he is just a massive human being. Proctor has the highest ceiling of any of the top three [Spencer Fano, Francisc Mauigoa, Proctor]. Proctor has a high ceiling. He could be comparable to Wirfs, who is probably the best left tackle in the league. [Proctor] also has a floor of being a dirty starter like Kolton Miller. Proctor is a very unique human being.”

For a long time, I have had Proctor projected to go to the Detroit Lions at pick 17 in my 2026 NFL Mock Draft. Other media have made that connection as well. The 17th pick seems like the lowest that Proctor could slide. “Brad Holmes would love it if everybody were a bunch of dummies and let Proctor fall to them,” said the assistant general manager. However, sources say there is a real chance that Proctor is gone before the Lions. The Browns, Chiefs, Dolphins, Rams, and Ravens are all candidates to take Proctor in front of Detroit.

If the Lions miss out on Proctor, I think the top candidates to go to the Lions are Auburn defensive end Keldric Faulk, Georgia offensive tackle Monroe Freeling, and Tennessee cornerback Jermod McCoy. Faulk is a perfect culture and scheme fit while filling a need. Freeling is also a great culture fit while filling the biggest need on the roster. Cornerback has been a weakness for the Lions for years, and a healthy McCoy could give them a legit No. 1 cover corner. Thus, the Lions have a lot of options at 17 even if they miss out on Proctor.

Washington wide receiver Denzel Boston has been one of the most popular NFL Draft prospects on the top-30 visits this year. Boston has taken visits to teams like the Steelers, 49ers, Dolphins, Browns, and Commanders. With all the interest and many teams in the top 20 needing wide receiver help, it leads to questioning if Boston could crack the top-20 next week. In doing a survey of team sources, they feel that Boston will be a late first-round or early second-round pick.

“I think he goes 20 to 30,” texted an AFC general manager. “Good player.”

Sources at three other teams said they had Boston as a second-round pick. “I had him as an early two,” said an NFC national scout. “I had him there, but I know he has some momentum.”

Of the five teams that Boston has visited, four of them have picks in the back half of the first round. Washington is without a second-round pick, so Boston would probably be a consideration if they traded down in the first round to recoup the second-rounder sent to the Texans in the Laremy Tunsil trade. Sources say Boston has momentum, but they do not see him going in the top half of the first round, and I have him going to a team that is known to have hosted him on a pre-draft visit.

The 2026 NFL Draft is like most other years in the draft, where teams do not have 32 players with first-round grades. Typically, that number of true first-rounders is in the high teens, and as a result, some players with consensus second-round grades get drafted in the first round out of default with 32 selections. Two defensive ends who are on the bubble of the first and second rounds are Clemson’s T.J. Parker and Miami’s Akheem Mesidor. In speaking with team sources, they were divided on which one might go in the first round.

“Most teams have second round grades on TJ, but lots of guys with second round grades get taken since most teams typically have 14-18 guys slotted in the first round on their board,” said an AFC area scout. “I think he’s a solid power rusher who owns the c-gap in the run game and has youth on his side. I’m not a big Mesidor fan. Age and durability concern me, and think he’s a finished product. I think he’ll be a good role player, but not a guy I’m fired up to take in the top 40. So for me that’s back of 2/early 3, but other guys are higher on him than I am.”

Mesidor dealt with some injuries early in his college career, and he will be old for an NFL rookie. Parker had a dip in production from the 2024 season and did not produce as much pass rush in 2025. One AFC general manager said Mesidor no, but Parker maybe could be a first-rounder. Three other team sources said they did not think Parker would go in the first, but they thought Mesidor would be selected on the opening night of the draft.

In my latest 2026 NFL Mock Draft, I have one of these edge rushers going in the first and the other sliding to midway through the second round. Both players are on the bubble of being opening night picks as neither one is a consensus first-round pick with NFL teams.
