2027 NFL Draft: College Game Recaps – Week 2

Entering the 2026 season, Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer has the potential to be a feast-or-famine prospect. His 2024 tape at Washington State and early 25 tape with the Sooners looked like a future first-rounder. After a broken thumb, Mateer struggled and produced some bad tape in 25. Mateer has everything riding on this season.

In the first quarter, Mateer was not getting into a groove as a passer, but he had a nice run for 13 to get Oklahoma a first down and near midfield. The drive stalled with Mateer throwing too far in front of a crossing receiver for the second consecutive drive. While Mateer was frustrated with the misses, the windows were extremely tight, and his receivers were not getting open. Mateer had some success just before half on some designed runs, and he had a nice play where he dodged a sack and then threw a short completion with defenders wrapping up his legs.

In the third quarter, Mateer threw a frozen rope on a post to tight end Rocky Beers for a gain of about 25 yards. Mateer made a good read, stepped in the pocket, and delivered a strike. Michigan had been winning with man coverage and not letting receivers get open, but they went to zone, and Mateer made them pay with a 17-yard completion to get across midfield. To cap the drive, Mateer found a receiver running wide open down the seam, and Mateer threw a perfect pass for a 22-yard touchdown. Mateer kept moving the ball with a short pass to Beers to lead him on the run and took off for a 43-yard gain. That led to a field goal to tie the game at 10 entering the fourth quarter.

Midway through the fourth quarter on a third-and-long deep in his own territory, Mateer threw a terrible pass to a blanketed receiver. The ball went right to the cornerback, who easily picked it off and had a return inside the five-yard line. That turnover was game-breaking for Mateer and Oklahoma. Mateer had one more chance, with just over two minutes left. Just past midfield on a fourth-and-7, Beer was open running a crossing route for a first down, but Mateer missed high for an incompletion. Mateer’s feet were out of whack on the throw, and that contributed to the inaccuracy. It was the fifth pass in the game where Mateer missed high. Mateer had one more chance staring back in his own territory; he started the drive with a 22-yard run, had an inaccurate pass, a good pass that fell incomplete, and then took a bad sack on the final play of the game to clinch the win for Michigan. Mateer finished completing 17-of-33 passes for 189 yards with a touchdown, an interception, and 45 yards on the ground.

For the NFL, Mateer needs to show more anticipation, accuracy, and consistency. His anticipation is lacking, and his accuracy can be streaky, with some perfect throws followed up with misses. It is too early in the season and 2027 draft process to give Mateer a true round estimate, but overall he needs to play a lot better, and this tape is going to hurt his draft grade.
Michigan cornerback Zeke Berry is an undersized corner, but he is a super gritty cornerback. Berry is similar to former Wolverine Mike Sainristil or Indiana cornerback D’Angelo Ponds. Berry was superb against Oklahoma. The Wolverines often matched him up against Oklahoma speedster receiver Isaiah Sategna, and Berry got the better of the matchup.

Early in the first quarter, Berry runs with Sategna on a crosser to force a third-down incompletion. On special teams, Berry made a good play downing the punt at the one-yard line and blocking it from rolling into the end zone. Early in the third quarter, Oklahoma tried to do a screen shovel pass, and Berry flew to the receiver to deliver a bone-rattling hit. The violence and power for a smaller corner like Berry was impressive. Early in the fourth quarter, Berry showed his special teams prowess again with an excellent open-field tackle on Sategna on a punt return. This was an excellent tape from Berry that is going to lead to some pro evaluators getting very excited about him.

For the NFL, Berry is a gritty cover corner who is physical, competitive, and aggressive. Berry shows versatility in coverage, being able to line up at the line of scrimmage, cover in off-man, or play zone. He is a twitchy athlete with quick reactions and an ability to explode out of breaks. Berry is effective in maintaining coverage, showing the ability to run the route and prevent separation. Berry lined up outside and inside with Michigan, but for the NFL, he could fit best as a slot corner. Given his size, Berry might be more of a second-round pick than a first-rounder.
Oklahoma’s wide receivers really struggled to get open against the Wolverines secondary, but Beers was superb. He created separation from coverage and was excellent running with the ball after the catch. Beers got his team going with a 25-yard gain on a touchdown drive, and his great run after a short catch for a 43-yard gain was the key play to tying the game. Beers has good size, speed, and athleticism. Beers needs to improve as a blocker, but he showed serious receiving ability with 94 yards on six catches. This tape will help his draft grade significantly, and he earned a stock-up for his performance in Ann Arbor.
Michigan stole a dangerous edge rusher from Utah in the transfer portal with John Henry Daley. Daley was superb for the Utes in 2025, and he looks just as special with the Wolverines. On a third down early in the first quarter, Daley had a big play to get his defense off the field with a spin move to the inside to get past the left tackle, and then he powered through the left guard to get a sack of Mateer. It was a phenomenal rush that showed Daley’s pass rush skill set with speed, athleticism, and moves. Shortly later, Daley got in the backfield and batted down a pass. Late in the second quarter, Daley got another sack as he bullrushed through the left tackle to take down Mateer as he stepped up in the pocket. In the second half, Daley had a nice tackle in run support.

As a pass rusher, Daley has a nice repertoire of moves and the physical talent to beat edge protectors. Daley is quick off the ball with a nice burst and has the quickness to charge upfield. He has a good spin move to move back to the inside, uses a rip move to get around the corner, and has active hands to chop and dip under blockers. Daley plays with good leverage to get underneath tackles to keep them from latching onto his chest. With his quickness, agility, and moves, Daley has a nice skill set as a pass rusher to go long with deploying a nice rush plan, setting up his different moves. Daley was not impressive as a run defender for the Utes in 2025, but he looked improved as a run defender against the Sooners. If Daley proves to be a well-rounded defender, he could be a first-round pick next April.

Team Sources Compare C.J. Carr to Purdy, Nix

The 2027 NFL Draft looks like it could be a deep year for quarterback talent. One of the quarterbacks who looks like a potential first-round pick is Notre Dame’s C.J. Carr. Carr took over as the starter in 2025 and had an impressive debut, leading the Fighting Irish to a 10-2 record. Carr completed 67 percent of his passes for 2,741 yards with 24 touchdowns and six interceptions. At 6-foot-3, 205 pounds, Carr has quality size and comes from a football family as the grandson of former Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr. In speaking with NFL sources, they compare C.J. Carr to San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy and Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix.

“I think he’s sort of Bo Nix-ish,” said a director of player personnel. “Not as mobile as Bo, but maybe a little more talented as a passer. C.J. won’t blow you away with physical talent, but he has elite intangibles. He would be great with a Sean Payton, McVay, or LaFleur.”

Nix was selected in the top-16 and led his team to the AFC Championship Game in his rookie season. Purdy was Mr. Irrelevant, but has led the 49ers to a Super Bowl.

“Watching him in person, he reminded me of Purdy,” said another source.

On top of impressing with his 2025 tape, team sources say that Carr looked really good at the Notre Dame pro day. Carr threw passes to Jeremiyah Love, Jadarian Price, Malachi Fields, and others.

“He was incredible at the pro day,” said the director of player personnel. “He hit 48-of-50 with zero practice time.”

Arizona Cardinals: Arch Manning , QB, Texas

The Cardinals add their future starter.

In the season opener versus Texas State, Manning completed 20-of-27 passes for 305 yards with four touchdowns and an interception.

In 2025, Manning completed 61 percent of his passes for 3,163 yards with 26 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He had 10 rushing touchdowns. Manning flashed his excellent skill set in relief work for Quinn Ewers in 2024. Manning has completed 68 percent of his passes for 939 yards with nine touchdowns and two interceptions. He also has two rushing touchdowns. The 6-foot-4, 225-pounder has a strong arm and is athletic with running ability for the NFL.

Las Vegas Raiders: Jeremiah Smith , WR, Ohio State

The Raiders foolishly passed on Luther Burden and Denzel Boston over the past two drafts. Las Vegas badly needs more receiving talent for Fernando Mendoza.

In the season opener, Smith caught eight passes for 151 yards and two touchdowns versus Ball State.

In 2025, Smith caught 87 passes for 1,243 yards and 12 touchdowns. Smith (6-3, 215) took college football by storm as a freshman, and he dominated for the Buckeyes. In his debut season, Smith caught 76 passes for 1,315 yards and 15 touchdowns. He showed size, speed, athleticism, and natural feel in a tremendous freshman year, helping Ohio State win a National Championship.

Miami Dolphins: Dylan Stewart , DE, South Carolina

Even if Chop Robinson breaks out this season, Miami could use more edge rush talent to go with him.

In 2025, Stewart had 33 tackles, 4.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and two passes defended. The 6-foot-5, 245-pound Stewart was superb for the Gamecocks in 2024. As a freshman, he was an immediate impact player, totaling 6.5 sacks with three forced fumbles, one pass batted, and 23 tackles. Stewart has a lot of potential to develop.

Cleveland Browns: Dante Moore , QB, Oregon

The Browns grab a future starter at quarterback.

In the season opener, Moore completed 28-of-37 passes for 378 yards with three touchdowns against Boise State.

Moore was a dynamic point-producer for the Ducks in 2025, making plays with his arm and legs. In 2025, Moore completed 73 percent of his passes for 3,280 yards with 28 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Moore (6-2, 215) is a dangerous quarterback who is tough to defend. He has shown impressive arm talent and feel as a passer. Moore throws some beautiful deep balls and shows impressive composure and poise for a young player. Moore has adequate size, and team sources who have stood next to and spoken with Moore and Rams quarterback Ty Simpson say they are close to the same height and weight.

New York Jets: Leonard Moore , CB, Notre Dame

The Jets grab their replacement for Sauce Gardner.

Moore played well against Wisconsin with five solo tackles, a pass break-up, blanket coverage, and a near interception.

Moore dealt with injuries but played really well in 2025. He had 31 tackles with five interceptions and seven passes defended. With Benjamin Morrison hurt, Moore was phenomenal in 2024, helping the Fighting Irish reach the National Championship. He totaled 48 tackles, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, and 11 passes broken up as a freshman. Moore (6-2, 195) has an excellent skill set with size, speed, and athleticism, and is a natural football player.

New York Giants: K.J. Duff , WR, Rutgers

I think New York made a big mistake passing on Jordyn Tyson and not giving more receiving weapons to Jaxson Dart. Here’s a playmaker that could form a special tandem with Malik Nabers.

Versus UMass, Duff caught nine passes for 196 yards and three touchdowns.

Duff has generated a nice buzz early in the process after a breakout 2025 season to go along with special height, weight, and speed. The advance scouts have him listed at 6-foot-5, 225 pounds with a projected 40 time around 4.5 seconds. His speed and size translated to being a chunk-producing receiver in 2025 with an average of 18.1 yards per catch. Duff totaled 60 receptions for 1,084 yards with seven touchdowns. Rutgers fought hard to keep Duff from leaving, and sources say they think Rutgers paid upwards of $3 million to get Duff back in 2026. Duff could be a riser for the 2027 draft.

Atlanta Falcons: Sam Leavitt , QB, LSU

Unless Tua Tagovailoa or Michael Penix proves to be the long-term starter, the new Falcons regime could target a quarterback in the 2027 NFL Draft.

As a passer, Leavitt has some talent, but he does need some development. Playing for Lane Kiffin could help his growth and ability to work out of the pocket. Leavitt has a strong arm and can fire some missiles into the intermediate part of the field. Leavitt can launch deep passes accurately, and he has the arm to make any throw. Leavitt could stand to improve his ability to work through progressions, recognize coverage, and operate smoothly and efficiently as a pocket passer. Leavitt’s running ability is special, and his legs bring a dangerous element to his offense. With quick feet and athleticism, Leavitt is outstanding at moving in the pocket to dodge the pass rush and avoid negative plays. He easily slips away from rushers and extends plays by breaking out of the pocket. From there, Leavitt is dangerous to take off down the field as he has a second gear to accelerate. He is a shifty open-field runner with size.

Thus far in 2026, Leavitt had an interception on the second play of the game, but then he settled in to lead a blowout of Clemson. Leavitt ran for 113 yards and two touchdowns while completing 16-of-28 passes for 230 yards with a touchdown.While recovering from a Lisfranc injury, Leavitt transferred to LSU for the 2026 season. In 2025, Leavitt completed 61 percent of his passes for 1,628 yards with 10 touchdowns and three interceptions in seven games before going out for the season in late October. In 2024, he completed 62 percent of his passes for 2,885 yards with 24 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also ran for 443 yards and five scores.

Carolina Panthers: Cam Coleman , WR, Auburn

Unless Xavier Legette steps up this season, Carolina could use more receiving talent to pair with Tet McMillan.

In the season opener, Coleman caught three passes for 70 yards and two touchdowns versus Texas State.

Coleman entered the transfer portal and will play with Texas in 2026. In 2025, Coleman had 56 catches for 708 yards and five touchdowns with Auburn. While other freshman receivers got more attention, Coleman (6-3, 197) flashed tremendous ability with size, speed, and athleticism. He caught 37 passes for 598 yards and eight touchdowns in his debut. If Auburn can give Coleman more consistent quarterback play, he could explode as a sophomore or junior.

San Francisco 49ers: Trevor Goosby , OT, Texas

The 49ers could use more youth on the offensive line. Here’s a blocker who could start at guard or right tackle and then take over for Trent Williams.

Goosby (6-7, 325) took over as the starting left tackle for Texas in 2025 and had an impressive debut for the Longhorns. Goosby has good size, athleticism, strength, quickness, and upside to get better as he gains experience.

Chicago Bears: Colin Simmons , OLB/DE, Texas

The Bears could consider adding more defensive front seven talent and more edge rush to go with Montez Sweat.

Simmons had a tackle and a fumble recovery versus Texas State.

In 2025, Simmons had 43 tackles, 12 sacks, three forced fumbles, and two passes broken up. In 2024, Simmons had an excellent debut for Texas and showed serious pass-rush ability with nine sacks. He also had three forced fumbles, 48 tackles, two passes defended, and one interception. Simmons (6-3, 245) has upside and could be even better after gaining experience.

Tennessee Titans: Jadan Baugh , RB, Florida

The Titans grab a running back upgrade to help Cam Ward.

Baugh was impressive with 160 yards on 14 carries and three touchdowns against Florida Atlantic. In 2025, Baugh averaged 5.3 yards per carry for 1,170 yards with eight touchdowns. He has 33 receptions for 210 yards and two touchdowns. The 6-foot, 228-pound Baugh flashed serious running ability for the Gators in 2024 as a freshman. While other backs got more carries, Baugh showed a dangerous burst and power to get yards after contact. Baugh averaged 5.1 yards per carry for 673 yards and seven touchdowns. He had four catches for 33 yards and a score. Baugh could explode if the Gators make him their feature back.

New Orleans Saints: Ashton Hampton , CB, Clemson

The Saints could use a true No. 1 corner for their defense.

To open 2026, on the second play of the blowout loss to LSU, Hampton had a nice interception of Sam Leavitt.Hampton (6-3, 204) is a big cover corner that is long and physical. In 2025, he totaled 45 tackles with eight passes broken up and an interception. He had 27 tackles with two interceptions and five breakups as a freshman. His speed and ability to run with speed receivers are a point of emphasis for his evaluation as a junior.

Pittsburgh Steelers: Darian Mensah , QB, Miami

Pittsburgh has Aaron Rodgers for 2026, but needs a long-term starter. They should have a shot at one in the 2027 NFL Draft.

Mensah ripped up Stanford on Friday night of the opening weekend in college football. In his debut with the Hurricanes, Mensah completed 27-of-30 passes for 401 yards with five touchdown passes.

Mensah (6-3, 205) played well in his season with Duke. He completed 67 percent of his passes for 3,973 yards with 34 touchdowns, six interceptions, and one rushing touchdown. After the season, he transferred to Miami to replace Carson Beck. He has a quality skill set with some arm talent and mobility. In 2024, Mensah had a good season as Tulane's starting quarterback, which led to him getting big-money offers in the transfer portal. Mensah has good accuracy and feel as a passer. He does not have elite athleticism or size, but Mensah is a dangerous passer and a point producer.

New York Jets: LaNorris Sellers , QB, South Carolina

The Jets grab a potential franchise quarterback.

Sellers completed 19-of-23 passes for 270 yards with three touchdowns in a blowout of Kent State.

Sellers completed 61 percent of his passes for 2,437 yards with 13 passing touchdowns, eight interceptions, five rushing touchdowns, and some yardage on the ground. He has been inconsistent, with some flashes of amazing passes and then missing some completions that he must complete for the NFL. In terms of his development as a football player, he probably should go back to college in 2026, but most players don’t think that way.

Sellers (6-3, 242) has a big-time skill set and could be a special quarterback. In 2024, Sellers completed 66 percent of his passes for 2,534 yards with 18 touchdown passes, seven interceptions, and seven rushing touchdowns. Sellers is a true dual-threat quarterback with dangerous running ability and impressive arm talent. With a cannon for an arm, Sellers can push the ball to all levels of the field with ease. His mobility, athleticism, escapability, and creativity to ad-lib his team into a big play are very desirable to pro teams.

Kansas City Chiefs: Charlie Becker , WR, Indiana

The Chiefs grab a big receiver for Pat Mahomes.

In the season opener versus North Texas, Becker had four catches for 64 yards and two touchdowns.

Becker flashed big-play ability with the Hoosiers in 2025 and showed an ability to stretch defenses downfield. In 2025, he had 30 catches for 614 yards with five scores. Becker illustrated some serious speed with his average of 20.5 yards per reception. To go along with speed, Becker has size and length at 6-foot-4, 204 pounds. He is reminiscent of Alec Pierce at Cincinnati.

16.

New England Patriots: Ryan Coleman-Williams , WR, Alabama

The Patriots add another weapon for Drake Maye. Any of Cam Coleman, Nick Marsh, Charlie Becker, or Ryan Coleman-Williams would be a great weapon to go across from A.J. Brown.

Taking on East Carolina to open 2026, Coleman-Williams caught five passes for 130 yards. In 2025, Coleman-Williams had 49 catches for 689 yards and four scores. He has had some problems with dropped passes in 2025. Coleman-Williams (6-0, 175) was very impressive in his freshman season for the Crimson Tide, catching 48 passes for 865 yards and eight touchdowns. He could stand to add some weight for the NFL, but he is a dynamic playmaker and capable of changing the game on any play.

In 2024, he caught 41 passes for 649 yards and three touchdowns. He could take off in 2025 or 2026.

The Jaguars could miss Travis Etienne this season. Here’s an upgrade for the backfield.

In the season opener, Pierre had three tackles, one sack, and an interception returned 27 yards for a touchdown.

Lacy (5-10, 205) was a tough runner for the Rebels in 2025. He showed dangerous quickness and shifty running ability while helping the Rebels make a run in the playoffs. Lacy averaged 5.1 yards per carry for 1,567 yards with 24 touchdowns. He also caught 29 passes for 177 yards.

Dallas Cowboys: Vicari Swain , CB, South Carolina

The Cowboys add a No.1 cornerback to continue their defensive overhaul.

South Carolina has had a number of good cornerbacks come through the program in recent years, and Swain will keep that tradition alive in 2027. In 2025, Swain totaled 28 tackles with one sack, two interceptions, and five passes broken up. Swain (6-1, 190) has a good skill set with size, speed, and athleticism.

Minnesota Vikings: Jelani McDonald , S, Texas

After the near retirement of Harrison Smith, the Vikings could use a long-term starter at safety.

Johnson had eight tackles versus Texas State. McDonald had a strong 2025 season for the Longhorns, showing an ability to make plays as a run defender and in pass coverage. He totaled 80 tackles with three interceptions and three passes defended. McDonald (6-2, 195) has good size and is fast.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Bear Alexander, DT, Oregon

The Bucs have contract decisions looming for Calijah Kancey after giving Vita Vea an expensive short-term extension. Given Kancey’s contract and Vea’s age, they could consider adding more youth on the interior of the defensive line.

To open 2026, Alexander has eight tackles and a sack. In 2025, Alexander had 50 tackles with one sack and one pass batted. Early in the season, Alexander did not play a lot before getting more snaps. Oregon staff told Alexander that he had to show more effort in practice to get playing time. With USC in 2024, Alexander had five tackles and zero sacks. He went out for the season in late September. Alexander totaled 47 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and two passes batted for USC in 2023. In 2022, he played with Georgia as a backup and recorded nine tackles, two sacks, and two passes batted. Alexander (6-2, 311) has a lot of talent with the upside to be a force, and he received a good grade from the advance scouts. Alexander is quick, athletic, and strong.

Denver Broncos: Sammy Brown , LB, Clemson

The Broncos could use more young talent at linebacker.

Thus far in 2026, Brown has 10 tackles. In 2025, Brown had 106 tackles with five sacks, one forced fumble, an interception, and five passes broken up. Brown impressed in 2024 with 80 tackles, five sacks, and three passes broken up. The 6-foot-2, 235-pounder has good instincts.

New York grabs more defensive line talent to pair with T’Vondre Sweat.

To open 2026, Echoles had two tackles against Louisville and did a nice job of helping to shut down their rushing offense.Echoles was a disruptive force for the Rebels in 2025 and made a lot of big plays for them at the point of attack. The 6-foot-3, 310-pounder showed run defense and pass rush ability as he totaled 68 tackles with five sacks and five passes batted. Echoles has quickness, athleticism, and strength. Sources say that Echoles has great character. They say he loves football, is a team leader, hard worker, and is not motivated by money.

Seattle Seahawks: Tae Johnson , S, Notre Dame

The Seahawks lost some veteran safeties in free agency. Here’s some young talent for Mike Macdonald’s defense.

Johnson (6-1, 197) had a breakout season in 2025 for the Fighting Irish. Johnson was a playmaker showing dynamic ball skills and instincts. He totaled 48 tackles with four interceptions and three passes defended. Johnson was just scratching the surface, and he could become a dynamic safety prospect. Sources say Johnson has worked really hard and is a good character presence for his team.

Houston grabs a young tackle to pair with Aireontae Ersery.

Seaton played well against Clemson in the season opener.The 6-foot-5, 307-pounder has a good skill set with size, quickness, strength, and athleticism. He was impressive as the starting left tackle at Colorado for two seasons. It will be interesting to see how Seaton handles better competition in 2026.

Baltimore Ravens: Trey’Dez Green , TE, LSU

The Ravens could use a young mismatch tight end.

Green caught four passes for 58 yards, taking on Clemson. He had some underwhelming blocks and also helped spring his back for a touchdown run. Green flashed dynamic receiving ability as a sophomore, hauling in 33 passes for 433 yards with seven touchdowns. The 6-foot-6, 238-pound Green has surprising speed and fluid athleticism for a big-bodied tight end. He could be a mismatch weapon in the NFL. As a freshman backing up Mason Taylor, Green caught four touchdowns with 101 yards on 13 catches.

C.J. Gardner-Johnson is a locker room cancer and is not a long-term starter. Here is a difference-maker for Buffalo.

Bolden had one tackle against Tennessee State in the 2026 opener. In 2025, Bolden had 76 tackles with two interceptions and five passes broken up. In a talented secondary, Bolden (6-0, 185) was able to earn playing time as a freshman and had an excellent debut next to Malaki Starks. Bolden totaled 59 tackles with one interception, one pass broken up, one sack, and one forced fumble. After gaining some experience, Bolden could be even better. He could stand to add some weight to his frame for tackling in the NFL.

Riley Leonard was inconsistent as a passer, so Greathouse could have produced more. He totaled 42 catches for 592 yards and four touchdowns.

In 2024, with Oklahoma, an injury kept Anderson out of the season opener against Temple. He returned to the field against Tennessee before leaving the game early with another injury. He did not have a catch in 2024. Anderson transferred to LSU after the season. Anderson showed that he was scratching the surface of his potential in 2023 with Oklahoma. As a redshirt freshman, Anderson caught 38 passes for 798 yards and 10 touchdowns. That made for a superb average of 21 yards per catch. Anderson has mismatch size, but has to stay healthy and produce a consistent season for Kentucky.

Mateer enters the first big test of the 2026 season needing to impress. In speaking with some scouts in the preseason, they were disappointed in his 2025 tape after he impressed in 2024 with Washington State. The Wolverines have good defensive talent, including Berry and Daley, who could be early-round picks. Berry will get tested by some quality receivers in Livingstone, Staegna, and Harris. There is a nice draft battle in the trenches with Stone versus Link.

This will be an interesting game for the new Kentucky players. Minchey showed some promise at Notre Dame, Anderson flashed years ago with Oklahoma, and Baxter showed some potential at Texas. Pierre leads a talented Alabama defense, and Pierre could be a first-rounder next April. Brown, Sabb, and Hubbard could be early-round prospects. Coleman-Williams looked like a future first-rounder during his freshman season in 2024, but he struggled with dropped passes in 2025.

Lacy was a tough runner for the Rebels in 2025. He showed dangerous quickness and shifty running ability while helping the Rebels make a run in the playoffs. Lacy averaged 5.1 yards per carry for 1,567 yards with 24 touchdowns. He also caught 29 passes for 177 yards. It was a breakout year for Lacy after totaling 104 yards on 23 carries with Missouri in 2024.

Haynes is a smart player who has flashed the ability to be a good contributor as a blocker and receiver.

He showed size, speed, athleticism, and natural feel in a tremendous freshman year, helping Ohio State win a National Championship. For a big receiver, Smith has a rare and special ability to use speed, athleticism, and shiftiness to uncover quickly on short and intermediate routes. He reminds this analyst of Julio Jones during his great seasons in Atlanta.

With Benjamin Morrison hurt, Moore was phenomenal in 2024, helping the Fighting Irish reach the National Championship. He totaled 48 tackles, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, and 11 passes broken up as a freshman. Moore (6-2, 195) has an excellent skill set with size, speed, and athleticism, and is a natural football player.

09/09/26: Stewart missed the season opener as he has been slow to recover from hip and back injuries sustained in 2025.

08/01/26: In 2025, Stewart had 33 tackles, 4.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and two passes defended. The 6-foot-5, 245-pound Stewart was superb for the Gamecocks in 2024. As a freshman, he was an immediate impact player, totaling 6.5 sacks with three forced fumbles, one pass batted, and 23 tackles. Stewart has a lot of potential to develop.

While other freshman receivers got more attention, Coleman (6-3, 197) flashed tremendous ability with size, speed, and athleticism. He caught 37 passes for 598 yards and eight touchdowns in his debut. If Auburn can give Coleman more consistent quarterback play, he could explode as a sophomore or junior.

08/01/26: In 2025, Simmons had 43 tackles, 12 sacks, three forced fumbles, and two passes broken up. In 2024, Simmons had an excellent debut for Texas and showed serious pass-rush ability with nine sacks. He also had three forced fumbles, 48 tackles, two passes defended, and one interception. Simmons (6-3, 245) has upside and could be even better after gaining experience.

08/01/26: Becker flashed big-play ability with the Hoosiers in 2025 and showed an ability to stretch defenses downfield. In 2025, he had 30 catches for 614 yards with five scores. Becker illustrated some serious speed with his average of 20.5 yards per reception. To go along with speed, Becker has size and length at 6-foot-4, 204 pounds. He is reminiscent of Alec Pierce with the Colts and coming out of Cincinnati.

09/09/26: Versus UMass, Duff caught nine passes for 196 yards and three touchdowns.

08/01/26: In 2025, Duff had a good season with 60 receptions for 1,084 yards with seven touchdowns. Duff is a huge receiver with mismatch size, and he showed some big-play ability with an average of 18.1 yards per carry. The 6-foot-5, 225-pounder has a great skill set and immense upside.

09/09/26: Baugh was impressive with 160 yards on 14 carries and three touchdowns against Florida Atlantic.

08/01/26: In 2025, Baugh averaged 5.3 yards per carry for 1,170 yards with eight touchdowns. He has 33 receptions for 210 yards and two touchdowns. The 6-foot, 228-pound Baugh flashed serious running ability for the Gators in 2024 as a freshman. While other backs got more carries, Baugh showed a dangerous burst and power to get yards after contact. Baugh averaged 5.1 yards per carry for 673 yards and seven touchdowns. He had four catches for 33 yards and a score. Baugh could explode if the Gators make him their feature back.

09/09/26: Goosby had a scare in the preseason, but he is healthy and playing to open 2026.

08/01/26: Goosby (6-7, 325) took over as the starting left tackle for Texas in 2025 and had an impressive debut for the Longhorns. Goosby has good size, athleticism, strength, quickness, and upside to get better as he gains experience.

Manning flashed his excellent skill set in relief work for Quinn Ewers in 2024. Manning has completed 68 percent of his passes for 939 yards with nine touchdowns and two interceptions. He also has two rushing touchdowns. The 6-foot-4, 225-pounder has a strong arm and is athletic with running ability for the NFL. In terms of skill set, style of play, and demeanor, Manning reminds me of Trevor Lawrence.

08/01/26: Lacy (5-10, 205) was a tough runner for the Rebels in 2025. He showed dangerous quickness and shifty running ability while helping the Rebels make a run in the playoffs. Lacy averaged 5.1 yards per carry for 1,567 yards with 24 touchdowns. He also caught 29 passes for 177 yards.

09/09/26: Green caught four passes for 58 yards, taking on Clemson. He had some underwhelming blocks and also helped spring his bcak for a touchdown run.

08/01/26: Green flashed dynamic receiving ability as a sophomore, hauling in 33 passes for 433 yards with seven touchdowns. The 6-foot-6, 238-pound Green has surprising speed and fluid athleticism for a big-bodied tight end. He could be a mismatch weapon in the NFL. As a freshman backing up Mason Taylor, Green caught four touchdowns with 101 yards on 13 catches.

08/01/26: The 6-foot-3, 248-pound Pierre has been a tough defender for the Crimson Tide in 2025. He has been a dangerous edge rusher with speed and physicality to push through blocks. In 2025, Pierre had 52 tackles with eight sacks, three forced fumbles, and one pass batted. He is an ascending player with a ton of upside.

In 2025, Moore has completed 73 percent of his passes for 3,280 yards with 28 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Moore (6-3, 203) is a dangerous quarterback who is tough to defend. He has shown impressive arm talent and feel as a passer. Moore throws some beautiful deep balls and shows impressive composure and poise for a young player.

08/01/26: Carr (6-3, 205) developed nicely in his first season as a starter, and by the end of the year, he was showing NFL starting ability. Carr completed 67 percent of his passes for 2,741 yards with 24 touchdowns and six interceptions. He was accurate, managed the game well, has developed field vision, and is a dangerous pocket passer with functional mobility. Carr is also known to have great leadership, character, and loves football. Some team sources have told me that they comp Carr to Brock Purdy.

He totaled 48 tackles with four interceptions and three passes defended. Johnson was just scratching the surface, and he could become a dynamic safety prospect. Sources say Johnson has worked really hard and is a good character presence for his team.

Mensah ripped up Stanford on Friday night of the opening weekend in college football. In his debut with the Hurricanes, Mensah completed 27-of-30 passes for 401 yards with five touchdown passes. While Stanford is not a good team, it was an impressive debut from Mensah, working with new receivers and looking like he was in mid-season form. Mensah got his season off to a great start in Week 1.

Sam Leavitt, QB, LSU

Leavitt was more impressive with his legs than his arm against Clemson, but Leavitt showed his dual-threat ability with three total touchdowns versus the Tigers. Leavitt had an interception on the second play of the game, but then he settled in to lead a blowout of Clemson. Leavitt ran for 113 yards and two touchdowns while completing 16-of-28 passes for 230 yards with a touchdown. There are some team sources that like Leavitt and his potential to be a riser this season.

Jadan Baugh, RB, Florida

Baugh was impressive with 160 yards on 14 carries and three touchdowns against Florida Atlantic. While it was an easier opponent, Baugh was fast, physical, and elusive with some tremendous jump cuts and the power to get yards after contact. Baugh was dominant and could not be stopped. He looked like a true first-rounder to open the season.

K.J. Duff, WR, Rutgers

While Rutgers lost to UMass, Duff was incredible in the season opener. The giant receiver was unstoppable as he hauled in nine passes for 196 yards and three touchdowns. The 6-foot-5, 220-pound Duff is a dominant receiver on 50-50 passes, can make plays downfield, and is also very dangerous as a possessional receiver in the short part of the field. Duff got his season started in excellent fashion.

Dillin Jones, RB, LSU

Jones had an excellent opening to the 2026 season, running all over a talented Clemson defense. Jones totaled 113 yards on 23 carries with two touchdowns. Early in the game, Jones had some critical runs to establish control of the game for the Tigers. Jones (5-11, 211) is a physical downhill runner with quickness and an ability to generate yards after contact. He could have a breakout season for the Tigers.

Sammy Brown, LB, Clemson

Will Heldt, DE, Clemson

Brown and Heldt are potential first-round picks, but they were both quiet against LSU. Heldt was a non-factor in the pass rush and chipped in four tackles as a run defender. Brown had 10 tackles, but they were downfield and tackles in pursuit. Brown was a non-factor in stopping Leavitt on the ground or Tigers running back Dilin Jones. This tape is going to hurt both Heldt and Brown, as they did not look like first-round talents versus LSU.
