2012 Senior Bowl: Tuesday Rumor Mill

By Charlie Campbell - @draftcampbell

  • Georgia guard/tackle Cordy Glenn was a topic of discussion with some scouts today. The consensus scouts have is that Glenn has to be a guard at the next level. Glenn played left tackle as a senior with the Bulldogs, but it doesn't sound like he is being viewed as a possible tackle at the next level on either side of the line. Scouts told me today that Glenn does have the mobility to play in a zone blocking scheme. Even though the 6-foot-5, 346-pound Glenn fits nicely in a power man blocking scheme, they also believe he has the quickness and athleticism to be a zone blocker. That flexibility helps Glenn to appeal to more teams. Right now he looks like a potential pick in the second half of the first round.

  • Jacksonville running back Maurice Jones-Drew is halfway through his 4-year contract extension with the team that was signed in 2009. Don't be surprised if you start to hear rumblings of a new contract. Jones-Drew's agent was seen in a long, rather intense conversation with Jaguars general manager Gene Smith on Tuesday.

  • University of Regina (Canada) defensive tackle Akiem Hicks landed on a number of teams' radar at the East-West Shrine Game last week. In speaking to sources this week, a few teams have serious interest in Hicks. Those teams include the Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks.

  • Word is that the Cleveland Browns have serious interest in Ohio State offensive tackle Mike Adams. He has been inconsistent in Mobile, and that was his track record with the Buckeyes. Still, Adams plays a position with a high demand, and at the Senior Bowl he has also taken reps at right tackle. Cleveland could target Adams with their second first-round pick (from Atlanta) to upgrade their right side and replace veteran Tony Pashos. Adams could be a good bookend on the other side from Joe Thomas.

  • WalterFootball.com had some discussions with scouts about a few players who were expected to be in Mobile but didn't make it. Baylor wide receiver Kendall Wright pulled out of the Senior Bowl and Oklahoma State offensive tackle Levy Adcock did not attend. Some teams aren't interested in using a first-rounder on Wright because he is sub six-foot and there are teams that avoid using high picks on smaller receivers. Still, some scouts liken Wright to Vikings wideout Percy Harvin and they believe that Wright will be selected in the first round.

Adcock, meanwhile, could have helped himself by coming to Mobile. Scouts are unsure about him after an unsteady performance in 2011. He performed well late in the season, but struggled early and in the middle of the year. Scouts definitely believe that Adcock cannot play left tackle in the NFL. He's too slow for that. They question if he is a right tackle or guard. Had Adcock come to the Senior Bowl and performed well at right tackle he could have helped his stock significantly.

  • It sounds like there is going to be a quality market for Texans free agent center Chris Myers. He made the Pro Bowl after a strong 2011 season and is hitting the open market at a good time. There are a lot of teams that could use Myers' services, especially those that run a zone blocking scheme like Houston. It wouldn't be surprising to see Myers land with Atlanta. Veteran Todd McClure looks to be at the end of the line and the Falcons need a center to fortify the interior of their line. They run a zone-blocking scheme so Myers would be a good fit. Atlanta also is willing to beat teams in a bidding war. Don't be surprised if the Texans let Myers go; sources feel that he is a product of the system and they won't be willing to write a huge check to bring him back.

Hi there KB ... thank you so much for your message, I am doing OK. I have been hnaivg a few health problems which have been causing me some grief but surgery at the end of this month will hopefully fix that for me. My brother, who has a chronic kidney disease, has been very unwell also. His kidneys are only functioning now at 20% after a double bout of pneumonia in the last 12 months. If is kidneys deteriorate to 15% he will have to start dialysis, we are all very concerned and are hoping for a miracle. Anyway, I just wanted you to know that finding your comment was really nice, thank you.As for Gridiron.... my husband played it for 5 years & it is the longest game I think there is on the planet & they really are like 4 hours long. I watched lots of games but I still had trouble understanding all the plays etc. Rugby league is much less confusing. have great week...cheers Kath

You? are correct. NO pargorm will work unless you change your diet. If you eat bad foods and lots of calories you will stay the same. But if you do and use vibration exercise, you can lose up to 4 times as much fat as with regular exercise. You can read the report done on this by searching Congress on Obesity vibration exercise . Very impressive results.

John 62050 . I think it's 17.50 million. Chad 6 mill Carson 11.5 mill.Lots of room there to sign some Free Agents if the money is right. Worth iontng it's a rarity for the Bengals to ever be up against the CAP. With dwindling attendance, maybe Mike will get creative and sign some big time free agents.

Seems to me this lockout is nnosense. For the one day the lockout was null, the coaches rushed to get the playbook into the hands of any takers. Then afterwards they say, we can't talk to the players but nothing prevents the players from sharing! On the one hand they want to punish the players. On the other they have a vested interest that the players remain in shape and ready to go! This is all a charade.

anything. Carry on. At least we got Osama, right?I can usually teralote Simmons' NBA stuff, but his most recent mishmash of Wire quotes combined with a double-installment rambling about the first round of the NBA playoffs was perhaps the most unreadable thing he's ever posted. It's one of the few written things I've ever walked away from unfinished and I've read Atlas Shrugged.
