Lawrence Jackson Profile
|
By Matt McGuire
Strengths: Has prototypical size for a left defensive end in a 4-3 scheme, and is really what you look for physically…Is a gifted pass rusher with raw athletic talent…Has the quick-twitch instincts that you want in a pass rusher…Has been very productive at USC when they ran a 4-3 defense…Can take over a game and be a play-maker…Is a team leader with very good character.
Weaknesses: Had a disappointing junior season, which might be attributed to USC changing to a 3-4 defense in which he faced a lot of double and triple teams…Is athletic but isn’t a “freak of nature”…He doesn’t have a lot of versatility and won’t fit every scheme.
Thoughts: Jackson needs to have a big senior year if he wants to be a top draft pick in 2008…The talent is there and he is on a very good defense, so it is up to him on how well he performs.
Player Comparison: Will Smith.
