Charley Casserly's top receiving prospects since 2003: 1. Andre Johnson. 2. Calvin Johnson. 3. A.J. Green. 4. Dez Bryant. 5. Larry Fitzgerald. 6. Michael Crabtree.
Charley Casserly: One thing A.J. Green can do better than Calvin Johnson: He's a better route runner off separation.
Charley Casserly: Julio Jones is a little bit behind Michael Crabtree. He ran a 4.3 at the Combine, but he plays in the 4.5. No separation.
Charley Casserly: When receivers have busted in the NFL, it's because they haven't been able to separate.
Charley Casserly's favorite mid-round tight end: Lance Kendricks. "He can catch the football."
Charley Casserly: D.J. Williams and Virgil Green can separate, but they can't block.
Charley Casserly: Taiwan Jones caught the ball well in his workout. He's a medical risk, but he's a fast guy who plays fast. Rate him in the 3rd round, call him a specialty back. He can score from any place.
Charley Casserly: Jacquizz Rodgers is my favorite guy to watch on tape. I ask, "Is this guy Warrick Dunn?"
NFL Draft Rumors and Buzz: April 14, 2011
Below, you can find various tidbits of NFL Draft rumors and information offered by Mike Mayock, Michael Lombardi and the rest of the Path to the Draft crew on the NFL Network. I posted these in my forum, but I thought it would be better to keep all the draft rumors together in this section. I'll be tweeting these during Path to the Draft at @walterfootball.
Charley Casserly: It's doubtful Prince Amukamara will be there for the Lions. Something to watch is Detroit moving up.
Charley Casserly: I wouldn't take Ryan Mallett in the first round, but I don't have to stand on the sideline and have Joe Webb as my quarterback. If you take Mallett, and the concerns surface, you'll be looking at a new quarterback in a few years. If you pass on Mallett, it could be a long season. I'd pass on Mallett and find a quarterback later.
Charley Casserly: The Bears will look at defense at No. 29. But a guy they could trade down for is Titus Young.
Charley Casserly: The Packers have to look at left tackle. Kyle Clifton (sic) has to go in Green Bay. Derek Sherrod would be good value at No. 32.
Brian Billick: It's unlikely the Broncos will do anything at quarterback in the first two days of the draft.
Tom Waddle: Marcell Dareus, to me, is a can't miss. You have to be able to play the run in the AFC West. They need an anchor for the 4-3.
Charley Casserly: Von Miller has to be in the conversation because the Broncos can get a defensive tackle at the top of the second round, but they can't get a linebacker at the top of the second round.
