Path to the Draft: March 29, 2011

Below, you can find various tidbits of NFL Draft rumors and information offered by Mike Mayock, Michael Lombardi and the rest of the Path to the Draft crew on the NFL Network. I posted these in my forum, but I thought it would be better to keep all the draft rumors together in this section. I'll be tweeting these during Path to the Draft at @walterfootball.

Charley Casserly: Aaron Williams will have to play corner at 190. You have to think about moving him to the safety position.

Charley Casserly: Sam Acho will be engulfed against the run in a 4-3. He is probably a 4th-round pick (gotta disagree).

Charley Casserly: "Jake Locker is too inconsistent in accuracy, too inconsistent in reading defenses. Probably 2nd-rounder."

Charley Casserly: "I'm taking Ryan Mallett over Jake Locker." (Charlie Sheen and Erik Ainge can't agree more)

Michael Lombardi: "D'Brickashaw Ferguson is the right analogy for Tyron Smith."

Judd Zulgad: "Les Frazier really wants a QB in the first or second round." Vikes will meet with Ponder this week.

Judd Zulgad: "The Vikings would like to address the defensive end position. Would not be surprised if they go DE at No. 12."

No one on Path to the Draft thinks that the Vikings should take a QB at 12. The pick will prob. be Bowers/Quinn/Watt/Jordan/Aldon

Michael Lombardi mentions Tyron Smith as an option for the Vikings at No. 12.

Michael Lombardi: "Akeem Ayers improved his status with a 4.68 and 4.71 40 at UCLA's Pro Day."

Michael Lombardi: "I don't think Rahim Moore is going to be a starter immediately." (Charley Casserly says 2nd-round prospect)

Charley Casserly: "Brandon Harris doesn't have the game speed or the ball skills."

Charley Casserly: "This is the worst senior class I've seen in a while. A.J. Green and Von Miller are the safest prospects."

Charley Casserly: I see Daniel Thomas as a late 2. He has room to grow because he played quarterback at junior college.

Charley Casserly: Mikel Leshoure reminds me of Steven Jackson. I see a lot of similarities.

If the Vikings take a DE at 12 they better rock the rest of the draft. That puts a lot of pressure on the team to find a starting QB, OT, and S past round two. And they don't have a third round pick.

I can't stand casserly, if theres a guy out there, i just dissagree with more then any, its casserly... All though, he does have a great comparison with leshoure and Steve Jackson... U gotta love Mikel Leshoure... Hes gonna be a super RB in the NFL, if not one of the best by yr 3..
