Arizona Cardinals (1-2) at Tennessee Titans (1-1)
Line: Titans by 3.

Thursday, 8:00 ET

The Game. Edge: None.
Outcomes of preseason games rarely have anything to do with the talent on the respective teams, since the majority of the games are played by second-, third- and fourth-stringers.

Some coaches care about winning preseason games, while others do not. Thus, betting on coaches with great preseason records is an easy way to make money.

Here are recent NFL Betting Trends: Preseason Records for every coach in the NFL.

***

Ken Whisenhunt doesn't put too much stock into these preseason games. He's coming off a win, so maybe he'll take it easy. Mike Munchak, on the other hand, has shown that he cares more. There's not a big sample size though, which is why I'm making this a small play.

The Eagles just played Monday in what was their dress rehearsal. They'll be sitting their starters. The Browns, as a young team, can't really afford to do that. I think that gives them an edge, especially considering that they're coming off much more rest.

The Patriots sat all of their starters Monday night, so they're going to treat this game as their dress rehearsal. Greg Schiano hasn't shown that he cares about preseason contests, so New England might be able to win easily.

Mike Tomlin loves winning preseason games. Chan Gailey doesn't. The one thing keeping me from making this a huge play is that Gailey is 2-0 in Week 3. However, he beat Marvin Lewis and Jack Del Rio in those contests, and those coaches definitely didn't take their matchup as seriously as Tomlin will.

So here's my Sunday card. I hit Atlanta on thursday so going into the weekend up 4 units. Plays as follow.

    1) Vikings +7 (5 units)
Have a friend that works at a vegas casino who let me know that the saints are a 95% public fade. Which is why your seeing the line go up. Usually in a game like this you'd expect the sharps to pound the game at 7.5 or higher with the home dog so if your getting it at anything above 7 congratulations. Bottom line is that Vegas rarely will just take it on the ass by that % of bets and the saints are not the same team on the road. AP should be back and the saints secondary is vulnerable. I'll be playing this one heavy.

    2) Giants -6.5 (4 units)
You want to talk about a momentum game and you have the giants beating the cowboys. The Redskins are a very popular public game which you see from the line dropping from 7 down to 6.5. Thats a relatively rare line drop. The redskins are a team coming off a crushing defeat against the Pats who the redskins hung in with too the end. Giants D is exponentially better with an equally good offense. Love the Giants here.

    3) Lions -1 (2 units)
A two unit play so you won't get a ton of analysis. This is my one public play who I think are on the right side here. Two teams who make a ton of penalties but the raiders are going in the wrong direction and palmer will be disturbed by the pressure the lions are able to apply.

    4) All Dog Parlay (this is just for fun so play it if you want but play it small. There are 3 dogs that I really like as outright winners) These are all moneyline plays!!
    Denver Broncos
    Seattle Seahawks
    Sandiego Chargers

Good Luck everyone and I will be playing the late game. I'll post a couple of hours before, I want to watch the reaction of the line a little more.

Actually tonight was just a fade the public pick for me. The public cashed in on the Monday and Thursday games so I thought I'd give TB a shot. Oops! I have no idea why vegas would make this game a 7 point spread.

yes I took miami last week but the play of the year was a joke. Dynamo posted philly as his play of the year and I just thought it was funny that he would make any game play of the year let alone a meaningless game like miami vs philly. As for tonight I wonder if you'd actually watch the buccs in previous weeks before you picked them tonight ?
