Miami Dolphins (0-1) at Carolina Panthers (0-1)
Line: Panthers by 4.

The Game. Edge: None.
Outcomes of preseason games rarely have anything to do with the talent on the respective teams, since the majority of the games are played by second-, third- and fourth-stringers.

Some coaches care about winning preseason games, while others do not. Thus, betting on coaches with great preseason records is an easy way to make money.

Here are recent NFL Betting Trends: Preseason Records for every coach in the NFL.

I don't have much for you this week because there are too many unknowns with all of these damn new coaches. Joe Philbin may want to win his first game though. He should be able to do it against Ron Rivera, who is just 1-4 in the preseason. However, there's not much data here, so this is going to be a small play.

I don't know what Chuck Pagano wants to do in the preseason, but Mike Tomlin loves winning these meaningless games. He's coming off a loss, so he's probably pissed off.

I normally don't bet on Andy Reid in the preseason, but there's a caveat here. The Eagles will be playing their starters into the third quarter because they can't do that next week. Thanks to a schedule screw-up, Philadelphia takes on the Browns next weekend as well as Week 1 of the regular season. In other words, Reid will be treating this like Week 3 of the exhibition campaign, which is when he usually does very well.

the lions game is not meaningless. if they can get the 5 seed then they play either the cowboys or giants rather than the saints. Thats a HUGE difference. This game matters to them alot more than the pack

Anyone out there have any intel on the UNC/Mizzou Bowl Game tonight? Line is UNC -5.5 right now but these teams seem really evenly matched. The over is attractive (at 52.5) but I don't know much about either side. Thoughts?

Falcons need this way more. Niners all but have 2 seed wrapped up with only the lifeless rams left. I like the falcons for 5 units.

Thank god I hedged the over with a teaser on the bears packers game! Just curious what happened with bears d? Additionally why in the world would McCarthy challenge that catch at the end of the game? I agree with Walt on twitter McCarthy must have had money on greenbay and was worried about the spread... I bought a point to get to 14.5 that was money well spent! (glad I did not buy only .5 which was my original plan after pushing 4 bets last few weeks in big plays!)

Still lost my under pick at five units but not terrible since I put 10 units on gb and 5 on the teaser with the over.

@tim that is how you hedge...

Just curious how many people got burned by the line changing so dramatically with the 49ers game? I had them on one site at -1.5 the picked them three minutes later on another site ( which also had them at - 1.5) and the line moved to -2.5 on that site again within three minutes! my mistake for not backing off but I have never seen a line move a full point in three minutes did anybody else have the same issue? I though I won both bets then I realized this morning that I lost the vig... Talk about a bad Christmas gift lol...

"Absolute statements" like "Always" and in sports capping: "a Lock," are in the long run, ridiculous. I don't know how many decades ago this fable started, but the notion of Parlays and Teasers being "sucker bets" is just plain wrong. I don't have the time or inclination to "prove" this, but I will give you a couple of supportive points. 1. Money management, Money management, Money management. 2. Hedging techniques, Hedging techniques, Hedging techniques. For those who are nodding their heads in agreement, congratulations, you know what I'm talking about. For those who are puzzled or who are shaking their heads in disagreement, I'm sorry. All I can say is that Pars and Teasers should at the very least, be a part of your sports handicapping. For some of us, it has become the major part of our wagering. Good luck to all going forward.
