Washington Redskins (0-0) at Buffalo Bills (0-0)
Line: Redskins by 2.

Thursday, 7:00 ET

The Game. Edge: None.
Outcomes of preseason games rarely have anything to do with the talent on the respective teams, since the majority of the games are played by second-, third- and fourth-stringers.

Some coaches care about winning preseason games, while others do not. Thus, betting on coaches with great preseason records is an easy way to make money.

Here are recent NFL Betting Trends: Preseason Records for every coach in the NFL.

***

Chan Gailey doesn't care about Week 1 of the preseason. His team has scored 20 points in two contests, including a 42-17 blowout loss to the Redskins in 2010. Washington will want Robert Griffin to gain some confidence, so Mike Shanahan may play him more than Gailey will Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Mike Tomlin is one of the most intense coaches in football. He really wants to win these preseason games. Andy Reid, meanwhile, usually doesn't give a damn unless it's Week 3.

UPDATE: I'm dropping this down to one unit because the Eagles may want to win this game for their coach.

I'm adding this pick as of Thursday morning. Mike Smith doesn't care much about the non-Week 3 preseason games; he's a combined 3-9 in Preseason Weeks 1, 2 and 4. John Harbaugh, meanwhile, is 10-2 in exhibition contests the past three years.

Sweat Barometer picks still rolling...2-0-1 last night for a total of 15-3-1 thus far....again a warning that this winning rate is simply unsustainable but hopefully can keep rolling a bit longer....here's today picks in "tiers of preference":

    Lehigh +14.5

    North Dakota State +11

    Georgetown -5
    North Texas +4.5

    Harvard -12.5
    Fairfield +12
Weber State -14.5 (I liked this game more but just as I went to bet it the line jumped from -13 to -14.5)...word....

@dynamo...So the line for tonights game opened at -6.5 and has remained steady despite almost 90% of the bets being on Hou. You think double reverse psychology? Home dogs in which greater than 80% of the public is backing the favorite have fared pretty well ATS historically

Nice picks last night Gator, quite the momentum you have going. Totally agree with Dynamo on Houston tonight. Look for Foster to have a big night.

After a relatively easy bowl game #1 I'll be turning my attention to the NFL for tomorrow nights match up. Last week I had my first losing week for -11 units since early November. So lets get it back!!

    Houston Texans -6.5 (4 units)

Vegas scooped last week with several big dogs winning outright. Players will bounce back this week and sharps and players will be on the same side after two winning weeks for the books. Look for the Texans running attack to take advantage of Indy's awful D. They should cover easily by two scores.

    24-13

Good Luck to all: keep your eye out for my bowl game trifecta, I'm hitting all three.

If u want a solid over play take (or look into) the Baylor v Wash game. Both teams can score and neither has a great secondary.

I try to stay away from totals @Chad209. The line just went up to 10 which, if you waited is a great value hook to pick up. I wouldn't move it up to 5 units but I really like la tech for 4 units, especially with the 10.
